Prediction: DEN 37, SD 24 (Line: DEN by 7)

Players of Interest: Keenan Allen

Update: Julius Thomas returned to practice and is expected to play this week.

The 7-1 Broncos are biding their time until they face the Chiefs in week 11 but this divisional game has plenty of importance. They come off their bye and should be healthier as if they needed any help. The 4-4 Chargers are 2-1 at home but a less talented Broncos swept the Chargers last year and won 35-24 in San Diego

QB Peyton Manning 350,3
WR Emmanuel Sanders 6-90,1
WR Demaryius Thomas 6-80,1
WR Wes Welker 7-90,1

PK Matt Prater 3 FG 4 XP

Pregame Notes: The Broncos season pretty much is decided with the next four games all against either divisional rivals or the obligatory trip to New England. Playing the Chiefs in weeks 11 and 13 will be much watch since it may be the only chance the Chiefs have of losing a game. The remaining four weeks are nothing special and the Broncos may end up coasting at the very end if they can sweep the Chiefs.

QUARTERBACKS: Peyton Manning comes off his bye having rested his ankles that were bothering him in the Redskins win. He's already thrown for 2919 yards in eight games which is a pace for 5838 and a shattering of the old record by Drew Brees. This is the point where we always say "but he won't maintain that pace". Not so sure that applies here.

Manning passed for 309 yards and three scores in San Diego last year.

RUNNING BACKS: Ronnie Hillman was sent to the doghouse in week eight for fumbling and marginal production. Montee Ball scored his first NFL touchdown in the Redskins win and ran for 38 yards on 12 carries. He was joined by C.J. Anderson, an undrafted running back who also looked sharp rushing for 22 yards on four carries. The duo will continue to backup Knowshon Moreno who has scored in all but one game this year. Moreno rarely has much rushing yardage but he continues to score each week and combing his receiving yardage makes him a top five back over all and every week.

WIDE RECEIVERS: No changes here to the Three Amigos. I am still amazed when I think of how this summer I said " do you really think one offense will produce three top 20 wideouts?" Because the answer for the first time in NFL history is apparently yes. Eric Decker scores every other week and is currently "due". Demaryius Thomas Is a lock to get about 70+ yards per week and a touchdown about every other. And Wes Welker just always scores - he's missed only one game so far. No need to think "should I start..." because the answer is always yes.

TIGHT ENDS: Julius Thomas injured his ankle in the Redskins game but the MRI was negative and he does not have a high ankle sprain. With two weeks to heal, he's expected to play this week. I will update as needed. So far Thomas scored in every road game. He did not practice early week but later on is when they will determine his status.

MATCH TO THE DEFENSE: Not much sense in matching up any defense against the more prolific offense this year but the Chargers did allow five teams to pass for 290+ yards and five scored multiple times via the pass. The only notable strength would be against tight ends and Thomas is already banged up anyway. The Charger had prevented any runner from scoring until last week when the Redskins pasted four touchdowns on them. This is an important game for the Broncos and one they should win handily. Start all the normal Broncos players. Do it every week. Win championships.

WHAT TO WATCH: The only development on the team is in running back depth but that's outside of fantasy relevance.

Pregame Notes: The Chargers return home from their loss in Washington and hit a four game stretch where they face the Broncos, Dolphins, Chiefs and then Bengals. The impressive start to the season has been toned down considerably and the Charger are now just another average team. After the next four games, they may now seem even that good.

QUARTERBACKS: Philip Rivers still has thrown a score in every game but his astronomic yardage has declined and he threw just four scores over the last three games played. The best that can happen here is a shootout and Rivers already has three games over 400 yards.

Rivers passes for 241 yards and two scores when the Broncos visited last year.

RUNNING BACKS: Just when it seemed that maybe Ryan Mathews was turning a corner after rushing for over 100 yards twice in a row, he again turns in a dud. Mathews only ran for 34 yards on seven carries versus the Skins and he's only scored once - against the Jaguars. Danny Woodhead has been little better with scoring or rushing but he caught at least five catches for 50 yards each week and then works up from there. His best games of the year were when the offense was falling far behind and he was used more than usual. That should happen again this week since Mathews is still inconsistnent only if you rely on his. Sproles is on pac for 98 catches this year and normally becomes a bigger factor in the more hotly contested games.

Mathews rushed for 74 yards on the visiting Broncos last time.

WIDE RECEIVERS: Keenan Allen is enjoying a break out season as a rookie and overshadowing all other first year wideouts. He's turned in 100+ yards and a score in three of the last four games and provided the only consistenty productive part of the offense. Eddie Royal scored in the last two weeks but that's never more than 70 yards per game and four catches while the four previous games were nearly absent from any yards and catches. Vincent Brown chugs along but has made no difference other than the one gain against the Raiders. Otherwise he's not been worth the soap to wash his uniform. Allen is now the key to the offense and failing to shut him down is what keeps hopes alive every week.

TIGHT ENDS: Antonio Gates hasn't scored since week four and his yardage has really dipped. He is still the most targeted and offers at least yardage each week. He's not without the occasion very nice catch but he also drops passes.

MATCH TO THE DEFENSE: On the road, the Broncos have been much more accomodating with the run than the pass. All opponents score at least once against the Chargers who shoudl see a little success running the ball sinc ehte Broncos have already allowed 11 scores to the position already though rarely any notable rushing yardage. This should be a shootout and all the notable Chargers are worth starting - Rivers, Gates, Allen, Mathews and Woodhead.

WHAT TO WATCH: Keenan Allen has been on fire and for a rookie it is even more impressive. He's the one to watch on this offense as he is the only difference maker.
