NOTE: These player rankings track a player's value for the remainder of the season and are intended to be used as a tool, not necessarily a definitive guide to player valuation. The scoring system is performance PPR. Return each Tuesday for an update following the outcome of Monday Night Football, any new developments, and further review of situations. There is no exact science behind season-long rankings, considering all of the variables and situational uncertainties at work.

Tuesday Update

Chicago Bears running backs

Jordan Howard beasted in Week 8 to the tune of 199 offensive yards, which helps ease concerns over what seemed on its way to becoming a three-headed monster. In his return, Jeremy Langford didn't rush the ball and caught one pass, while Ka'Deem Carey showed to be the favored RB2 for John Fox.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running backs

A foot sprain has Jacquizz Rodgers on the mend, so it will come down to a combination of RBs Antone Smith, Peyton Barber and Mike James. Eventually, perhaps, we'll see Doug Martin back on the field.

RB Don Jackson, Green Bay Packers Up

Jackson was given a mild boost with the release of Knile Davis. James Starks should return in a few weeks, and the versatility of WRs Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb as backfield options continue to add uncertainty to an already weak running game.

Arizona Cardinals defense Down

Losing safety Tyrann Mathieu for up to six weeks is devastating, even if he wasn't playing his best football.

WR Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings Up

Minnesota's horrid offensive line plan has me nervous, but in the face of a heavy pass rush Monday night, Diggs still mustered a strong showing.

WR Travis Benjamin, San Diego Chargers Down

The explosive receiver is getting a second opinion on a knee injury, which rarely is a good sign. I barely changed his ranking; consider him trending downward and brace for a season-ending prognosis.

Unsettled Situations

Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks

You know the drill ... Entering Sunday Night Football, smart money was on Dak Prescott remaining the starter. After a shaky performance, his game-winning heroics likely cemented his starting status.

Kansas City Chiefs running backs

It appears Jamaal Charles is at best going to be limited if he plays in the next week or two, and Spencer Ware's concussion leaves his value in doubt for the short term. Charcandrick West would get a bump if Ware is to miss extended time. Check back Tuesday for more details.

RBs Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon, Baltimore Ravens

West exited early but returned in Week 7 and mustered 10 yards on eight carries versus the New York Jets. A bye week later, how much of a factor Dixon becomes is the question needing an answer.

Chicago Bears running backs

Jordan Howard started hot but has been stymied over the past few games. Jeremy Langford is set to return, and Ka'Deem Carey has been serviceable. Facing Minnesota in Week 8 isn't likely to be a good barometer of the upcoming committee split.

WR Will Fuller, Houston Texans

A leg injury knocked him out of Week 8, which is concerning given his recent battle with a hamstring strain.

WR Torrey Smith, San Francisco 49ers

Smith has been rumored to be on the trading block before Tuesday's deadline.

WR DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins

So much for being a coveted sleeper entering the year ... or is it? Parker, coming off a bye week, has a friendly schedule over the next month or so, but I want to see one game's worth of involvement before bumping him. He hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt. Consider him a potential buy-low candidate.

RBs James White and Dion Lewis, New England Patriots

It's really a guessing game when it comes to the Patriots, but Lewis is inching closer to a return and White didn't stand out in Week 8. In his defense, it was an unfavorable matchup. New England has another week to think about it with a bye.

WR Cameron Meredith, Chicago Bears

I left him unchanged because there is obvious talent here. The concern is what will happen with Jay Cutler back in the lineup. Much like the aforementioned running back situation in the Windy City, the Vikings are not the best opponent to use as a gauge.

Overall Player Movement

Last week, after the rankings reset, I said we'd return to a line-item review of player changes. After giving it further consideration, I'm addressing the significant moves rather than each market correction. Discussing the obvious player movement is a waste of your time, so -- as always -- if you have questions that were not answered in this space, reach out to me on Twitter @Cory_Bonini and/or through the forums with a direct message.

QB Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals Up

Dalton was given a mild boost to reflect a healthy Tyler Eifert's return to the field. It gives the quarterback more options in the red zone and a dependable safety valve.

RB Rob Kelley, Washington Redskins Up

Kelley was given a substantial bump after a respectable Week 8 showing. Matt Jones is banged up and was in the doghouse before the injury for his consistent battle with protecting the football. This one really could be in the "unsettled" department, too, but I suspect Jones will be worked in enough to keep Kelley at arm's length from a starting fantasy lineup.

WR Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs Up

Hill went up again after another quality showing. The quarterback situation is of little concern, as it is a system-driven situation. Hill's explosiveness offsets any concerns. All of that noted, Hill is a fill-in to cover a bye or an injury at this point.

WR Anquan Boldin, Detroit Lions Down

The crafty veteran will maintain some value because of his prowess near the end zone, but the return of Theo Riddick and Eric Ebron, as well as Golden Tate getting his head on straight, severely cuts into Boldin's targets.

TE Martellus Bennett, New England Patriots Down

There are so many mouths to feed in New England that it will be a matchup game every week, and even then, fantasy gamers' confidence in Bennett cannot be too high.

TE C.J. Fiedorowicz, Houston Texans Up

If it were not for him leaving early due to a concussion, I think this may be too low of a ranking. He has been involved with regularity and is exploiting the matchups that are expected of him. Rarely do concussions keep players out for more than a week, and Houston is off in Week 9.
