Houston Texans impending free-agent QB Ryan Mallett is drawing interest from the New York Jets, according to a source.
Huddle Up: The Jets reportedly are also kicking the tires on ex-Brown Brian Hoyer in their search for another QB to challenge incumbent Geno Smith. Hoyer has a small edge in experience, but Mallett has more upside.

Houston Texans impending free-agent QB Ryan Mallett (pectoral) is recovering from surgery on a torn pectoral muscle. Mallett said he's already thrown a football and that the recovery process is day-by-day.
Huddle Up: The Texans have said they'd like to keep Mallett around and continue to develop him, and with this year's quarterbacks crops--both in the draft and free agency--so thin it's probably the team's best move. If they're convinced of how his recovery is progressing, they'll be first in line to offer him a deal.

Houston Texans impending free-agent QB Ryan Mallett is likely to be re-signed by the team this offseason, in the opinion of HoustonTexans.com's Drew Dougherty.
Huddle Up: Mallett only had one healthy start for the team last season before tearing a pectoral muscle and with QBs in even shorter-than-usual supply via the draft and free agency this offseason, it's a solid bet that the Texans will give Mallett another chance.

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett (pectoral) is expected to miss the rest of the season because of the pectoral injury he suffered in Week 12.
Huddle Up: The Texans will turn back to Ryan Fitzpatrick for the short-term but could take a look at rookie Tom Savage late in the season if they fall out of playoff contention. Mallett enters the offseason a free agent with minimal starting experience but he's likely to draw interest from QB starved teams.

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett (pectoral) suffered a pectoral injury in the Week 12 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he will go for an MRI. He might miss several games if the test shows a tear. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to return to a starting role.
Huddle Up: Houston's passing game has been limited this season with both quarterbacks. We should know Mallet's diagnosis on Monday. Fitzpatrick is nothing more than a middle-of-the-road QB2.

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett has been named the team's starting quarterback moving forward.
Huddle Up: Mallett, a 2011 third-round pick, is the very definition of an unknown quantity with no starts and only four passes attempted in three-plus seasons. Previous starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, though, threw only 11 TD passes with no 300-yard games in the first 9 starts of the season, so it can't be too much worse for the Houston pass-catchers, can it?

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett was named the team's backup quarterback, with rookie QB Tom Savage the No. 3 quarterback.
Huddle Up: No surprise here, and this is who you'll see at the Texans' controls if Ryan Fitzpatrick pulls a Matt Schaub and gets himself benched.

The Houston Texans have acquired QB Ryan Mallett from the New England Patriots, in exchange for a sixth-round pick, according to multiple sources.
Huddle Up: Mallett, a 2011 third-round pick who's attempted 4 regular-season passes, is a lot closer to seeing the field now that he has Ryan Fitzpatrick in front of him instead of Tom Brady. Fourth-round pick Tom Savage is the only other QB on the roster as Case Keenum has been released.

New England Patriots QB Ryan Mallett (undisclosed) missed his second straight practice Monday, Aug. 11.
Huddle Up: Mallett's injury, coupled with his shaky outing in the exhibition season opener, will make it tough for the Patriots to trade him for anything similar to what they received for Matt Cassel a few years back.
