New England Patriots QB Ryan Mallett continues to draw rave reviews at practice. 'He's got arm strength like I've never seen. Ever,' RB Shane Vereen said. 'He uses that really well. He's got tremendous leadership ability. He just needs his opportunity, I think.'
Huddle Up: It appeared as if that opportunity might come earlier this offseason with the Browns, among other teams, rumored to be in hot pursuit, but the Pats are in no hurry as Mallett's value should continue to trend upward the longer he sits behind Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots have fielded multiple calls for QB Ryan Mallett.
Huddle Up: With starter Tom Brady, who turns 36 in Aug., stating that he wants to play until age 40, Mallett doesn't figure to see any action in New England any time soon after appearing in only 4 games and attempting 4 passes over his first 2 seasons. Then consider that the current draft crop of QBs is not exciting anyone, and it's clear the interest in Mallett will continue as long as he's carrying a clipboard with the Pats.

The New England Patriots are reluctant to trade QB Ryan Mallett because they want a viable backup quarterback in case something happened to QB Tom Brady.
Huddle Up: Mallett has been the subject of some trade speculation -- involving teams such as the Browns, among others -- but if a deal doesn't get done before the draft, the chances will dip from slim to none.

The New England Patriots may be willing to trade QB Ryan Mallett this offseason. The Cleveland Browns could be interested in Mallett becomes available.
Huddle Up: Mallett hasn't seen nearly as much action as Matt Cassel, whom the Patriots turned into a first-round pick a couple years ago, but he has the tangy zip of potential and there are some seriously quarterback-starved teams out there.
