Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel could be on the roster bubble if he struggles during training camp. The team would save $4.15 million in salary cap space if he is released.
Huddle Up: It's beginning to look and sound like a winner-take-all QB race in Buffalo as there also has been speculation that former first-round pick EJ Manuel will be released or traded if he doesn't win the job. Stay tuned ...

Buffalo Bills QBs Matt Cassel and EJ Manuel both worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Wednesday, June 3.
Huddle Up: due respect to Tyrod Taylor, this is your quarterback competition in Buffalo. Enjoy.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel believes the talent in Buffalo exceeds that of the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs squad he was a part of. "We've got all the pieces to the puzzle here to be a successful football team," he said. "Our offense has the best skill players in all the league in my opinion."
Huddle Up: LeSean McCoy. Sammy Watkins. Percy Harvin. Charles Clay. Cassel does have a case, but he left unsaid that it's going to take strong and solid play from the QB position -- something the Bills haven't had in many a season -- to make it all work.

The Buffalo Bills acquired QB Matt Cassel from the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, March 4. The Bills swapped their 2015 fifth-round pick for the Vikings 2015 sixth-round draft pick. Minnesota will also receive a 2016 seventh-round draft pick.
Huddle Up: Cassel moves to the top of the Buffalo depth chart, the Vikings upgrade a Day 3 pick this year and get an extra one for next year, and Minnesota now needs to find another insurance policy for Teddy Bridgewater.

Minnesota Vikings QB Matt Cassel (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list, Wednesday, Sept. 24, which ends his season.
Huddle Up: It was only a matter of time until Teddy Bridgewater took over, and Cassel's season-ending injury expedited the process.

Despite throwing four interceptions in a 30-7 loss to the New England Patriots Sunday, Sept. 14, Minnesota Vikings QB Matt Cassel will remain the starter. "As I've said before, I'm going to hold the quarterback position just like every position here to the same standard," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. "And I also said I wasn't going to have a quick hook. Matt needs to play better. It's pretty obvious he needs to play better."
Huddle Up: Cassel wasn't the only issue for the Vikings in the Week 2 loss, but if they are to be without Adrian Peterson for any length of time it would likely expedite the rebuilding process--in which case no reason for Teddy Bridgewater not to get some on the job experience.

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder had a solid training camp and likely saved his job with significant work and production in the preseason finale. He might have some value if the team is not ready to put QB Teddy Bridgewater onto the field and they need someone to fill in for QB Matt Cassel.
Huddle Up: Ponder may end up sticking with the Vikings but it's unlikely the team will turn to him if they bench Cassel. Bridgewater also played well this preseason and if Minnesota makes a move at QB, it will be to the more talented Bridgewater.

Minnesota Vikings QB Matt Cassel was named the team's starting quarterback over QB Teddy Bridgewater.
Huddle Up: This is how the Vikings preferred things to play out, and Cassel has looked solid through the preseason. While Bridgewater is most definitely the Vikings' future at the position, Cassel is more than capable of keeping Cordarrelle Patterson, Kyle Rudolph, and even Greg Jennings fantasy relevant.

Minnesota Vikings QB Matt Cassel could play the entire first half of the team's second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 16, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.
Huddle Up: Cassel looked better than rookie Teddy Bridgewater in the Vikes' preseason opener, and will be looking to add to his lead with a strong couple of quarters Saturday night vs. the Cards.

Minnesota Vikings QB Matt Cassel will start the second game of the preseason over QB Teddy Bridgewater.
Huddle Up: Cassel looked solid in leading the Vikings to a touchdown in their preseason opener, while Bridgewater demonstrated that he's still a rookie with some refining to do. It will take some major happenings this August for Bridgewater to leapfrog Cassel on the depth chart.

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater saw reps with the first-team offense in practice Wednesday, July 30. According to NFL Network's Albert Breer, QB Matt Cassel appears to lead the race for the starting quarterback job, but Bridgewater has closed the gap.
Huddle Up: Bridgewater continues to draw raves from OC Norv Turner, and he's being at least worked in with the first team in just about every opportunity. The Vikings may prefer to start the season with Cassel under center, but if Bridgewater continues to perform he may make that decision a whole lot more difficult.

Minnesota Vikings QBs Matt Cassel, Teddy Bridgewater and Christian Ponder have been evenly splitting reps during the early part of training camp, according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Turner will split the reps two ways after the team's upcoming off day.
Huddle Up: Cassel is believed to have the edge but Bridgewater is making a strong case to start. The battle will continue during the preseason but the rookie Bridgewater could be under center when the Vikings open the season in St. Louis if he performs well in August.
