Dallas Cowboys QB Matt Cassel will start over QB Brandon Weeden in Week 7 against the New York Giants, according to ESPN and other media reports Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Huddle Up: Weeden has completed 72.4 percent of his passes and only has turned the ball over twice in 3 1/2 games. But at the same time, he's only guided the Cowboys to 26 points over the last 10 quarters, starting with the second half of the Week 3 loss to the Falcons, and the Cowboys basically have nothing to lose turning to Cassel after losing all three of Weeden's starts. Cassel last started in Week 3 of last season with the Vikings, but will have had roughly a month to learn the Cowboys' system by the time Week 7 rolls around.

Dallas Cowboys QB Matt Cassel could get a chance in Week 7 after the team's bye, as head coach Jason Garrett said Sunday, Oct. 11, he will evaluate a quarterback change during the team's bye week.
Huddle Up: Brandon Weeden has not been getting the job done for the Cowboys, and Tony Romo isn't coming back any time soon so to hang around in the NFC East Dallas needs a spark; maybe Cassel is the guy to provide it.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel was acquired by the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Dallas acquired Cassel and Buffalo's 2017 seventh-round draft pick for Dallas' fifth in 2017, sources said.
Huddle Up: The Cowboys wanted veteran insurance behind new starter Brandon Weeden, and the unproven Kellen Moore wasn't going to cut it. Moore, though, will be the No. 2 QB until Cassel gets up to speed on the offense.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel was released Saturday, Sept. 5.
Huddle Up: Cassel thought he was safe but that's not the case. Cassel loses out to Tyrod Taylor and E.J. Manuel. He'll try to catch on with another team as a backup.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel said the team has indicated that they will hold three quarterbacks on the roster heading into the regular season. Head coach Rex Ryan was vague on whether he will keep three quarterbacks. Cassel played in only four series in the preseason.
Huddle Up: Tyrod Taylor will begin the season as the Bills' starter. If Buffalo does keep three quarterbacks, it's anyone's guess who will come in should Taylor struggle or get injured. The smart money is on E.J. Manuel.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel could be cut by the team, as they are internally discussing the option.
Huddle Up: Rex Ryan is all in on Tyrod Taylor, and the club is only a couple years removed from investing a first-round pick in EJ Manuel so he's not going anywhere, either. The veteran Cassel could catch on as a clipboard holder/insurance policy elsewhere, and the Bills may give him that opportunity sooner rather than later.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel will be in uniform but is not expected to play Thursday, Aug. 20, against the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Rex Ryan.
Huddle Up: Fellow offseason acquisition Tyrod Taylor gets the start tonight after Cassel started the Bills' exhibition opener and completed 7-of-8 passes for 45 yards. 2013 first-round pick EJ Manuel will play in the second half, and might be in line to start the team's third preseason contest if Buffalo follows its rotation.

Buffalo Bills QBs Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel are all listed as the starting quarterback on the team's depth chart. Cassel, however, will start in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 13.
Huddle Up: Yeah, the well-traveled Cassel is getting the first starting nod, but that only means he has the first chance to lose ground in this tight battle that's expected to last most of the preseason.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel is expected to be the starting quarterback for the team's first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Friday, Aug. 14.
Huddle Up: The veteran acquired in a trade with the Vikings, was penciled in atop the Bills' depth chart following OTAs and none of the other three contenders has been able to unseat him -- so far. The quarterbacks' play in the first few preseason games, though, will likely be more of an accurate barometer.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel opened training camp Friday, July 31, as the first-team quarterback.
Huddle Up: The well-traveled veteran remains the front-runner to start in Buffalo, but 2013 first-rounder EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor, who's made an impression this offseason, will get ample August opportunities to show their wares as well. In the end, it may not matter too much for standard--league fantasy purposes, but it should be an intriguing battle to watch, nonetheless.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel could be on the roster bubble if he struggles during training camp. The team would save $4.15 million in salary cap space if he is released.
Huddle Up: It's beginning to look and sound like a winner-take-all QB race in Buffalo as there also has been speculation that former first-round pick EJ Manuel will be released or traded if he doesn't win the job. Stay tuned ...

Buffalo Bills QBs Matt Cassel and EJ Manuel both worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Wednesday, June 3.
Huddle Up: due respect to Tyrod Taylor, this is your quarterback competition in Buffalo. Enjoy.

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel believes the talent in Buffalo exceeds that of the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs squad he was a part of. "We've got all the pieces to the puzzle here to be a successful football team," he said. "Our offense has the best skill players in all the league in my opinion."
Huddle Up: LeSean McCoy. Sammy Watkins. Percy Harvin. Charles Clay. Cassel does have a case, but he left unsaid that it's going to take strong and solid play from the QB position -- something the Bills haven't had in many a season -- to make it all work.

The Buffalo Bills acquired QB Matt Cassel from the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, March 4. The Bills swapped their 2015 fifth-round pick for the Vikings 2015 sixth-round draft pick. Minnesota will also receive a 2016 seventh-round draft pick.
Huddle Up: Cassel moves to the top of the Buffalo depth chart, the Vikings upgrade a Day 3 pick this year and get an extra one for next year, and Minnesota now needs to find another insurance policy for Teddy Bridgewater.
