The New England Patriots are preparing to bring back free-agent WR Deion Branch (Patriots) this week, replacing the injured WR Donte' Stallworth (ankle). Branch's locker has been intact since his released, signaling he would likely be returning.
Huddle Up: Branch is always a phone call away for the Pats, but you're going to need to be in pretty deep league to count on any helpful fantasy production from the veteran WR, unless Wes Welker or Brandon Lloyd catches the team's pass-catcher injury bug.

The New England Patriots released WR Deion Branch Saturday, Nov. 17 and promoted WR Greg Salas from the practice squad.
Huddle Up: Branch had a season-high 4 catches for 30 yards in Week 10, but had been battling a hamstring strain all week. Salas, meanwhile, has been on the Pats' practice squad for most of the season. He was active for a pair of games but does not have a reception.

The New England Patriots re-signed WR Deion Branch Tuesday, Sept. 18, after cutting him three weeks ago. Branch could become a part of the team's offense immediately with TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) out until October.
Huddle Up: The fantasy wheels keep turning in New England, which earlier in the day signed free-agent TE Kellen Winslow Jr. Branch was cut at the end of training camp after catching 51 passes for 702 yards and 5 TDs a season ago. TE Aaron Hernandez and his sprained ankle figure to be out at least a month, but finding enough passes to go around on the Pats outside of top targets Rob Gronkowski and Brandon Lloyd still remains a fantasy issue.

The New England Patriots have released WR Deion Branch.
Huddle Up: This is an interesting move from the Patriots. They are obviously comfortable with Julian Edelman, who had a great preseason, as their No. 3 receiver. That makes Edelman an intriguing late-round or waiver wire prospect. The Patriots might have five or six options ahead of him, but he could break out for a game or two. He is also an intriguing dynasty stash; he would ascent to No. 2 if Welker walks next offseason and the Patriots don't sign anyone else.

New England Patriots WRs Donte' Stallworth and Deion Branch may have to compete for one roster spot during training camp if the team decides to keep six wide receivers on the roster.
Huddle Up: Even if one of them manages to beat out Jabar Gaffney, Julian Edelman and Anthony Gonzalez for the No. 3 gig, he's still essentially their No. 5 when you add TEs Gronkowski and Hernandez. Nothing to see here.
