The New England Patriots released WR Michael Jenkins.
Huddle Up: The Patriots have several younger options--notably Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson--who they believe can do the job every bit as good as Jenkins.

New England Patriots WR Michael Jenkins has spent a lot of time this offseason picking the brain of QB Tom Brady or listening in on conversations Brady has had with other receivers.
Huddle Up: Jenkins, entering his 10th NFL season, hasn't had more than 53 catches or 777 receiving yards in any one season but is clearly in the best situation of his career as the senior member of a young and unproven New England WR corps.

New England Patriots WRs Michael Jenkins and Donald Jones may have to compete for one roster spot during offseason workouts and training camp because of the additions of WRs Aaron Dobson, Josh Boyce and Julian Edelman.
Huddle Up: Jenkins (40-449-2 with the Vikings) and Jones (41-443-4 with the Bills) are coming off decidedly mediocre seasons in 2012, and even with Tom Brady now throwing them the ball, the winner of the derby shouldn't expect too much of a jump considering all the other weapons in New England.

The New England Patriots signed WR Michael Jenkins (Vikings) Thursday, Mar. 28. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Jenkins, who will turn 31 in June, is more of a possession option as he he's averaged more than 12.7 yards per catch only once in his past 7 seasons with the Vikings and Falcons.

The Minnesota Vikings have released WR Michael Jenkins.
Huddle Up: This move comes as no surprise. Jenkins could be back with the Vikings given his blocking acumen and familiarity with OC Bill Musgrave from their time together in Atlanta, but expect Minnesota to use the draft and perhaps free agency as well to upgrade their wide receivers.
