San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said he wants to use multiple running backs this season and will use the hot hand at the position. 'Thats the big thing. Play the hot hand while you roll. If youve got to tap out for a play or two, well put the next guy in,' McCoy said. RB Ryan Mathews has worked with the first-team and second-team offense during practice and is part of a rotation with RBs Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown.
Huddle Up: The fact that the Chargers would even consider aged Ronnie Brown in the mix says bad things about the backfield. A committee approach that uses an over-the-hill back, an injury prone back and a third down receiver just has all the markings of another lost season.

The San Diego Chargers re-signed RB Ronnie Brown to an undisclosed one-year deal.
Huddle Up: Brown will round out a San Diego backfield that includes oft-injured Ryan Mathews and newly signed Danny Woodhead. Good times!

San Diego Chargers RB Ronnie Brown (hamstring) missed practices Wednesday and Thursday was limited Friday. He is questionable for Week 17.
Huddle Up: If you're hoping to have Brown this week, it's not looking good. Meanwhile, Jackie Battle's fantasy owners stand to benefit most. Check back before Sunday afternoon just to make sure.

San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner didn't reveal his plans at running back in Week 16 after RB Ryan Mathews (clavicle) was placed on the Injured Reserve. 'Well, we've got a chance to get Ronnie Brown back' Turner said. 'Jackie Battle will get a chance to play. And Brink (Curtis Brinkley ) played some yesterday, though I don't know that he would play on third down. And we'll probably add Edwin Baker to the 53-man roster. I don't know that he would be active, but we'd have to see where Ronnie Brown is.' Brown was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday.
Huddle Up: Mathews' fantasy owners or those desperate enough to be eyeing a Chargers' back in Week 16 will have to play the waiting game and see how Brown is coming along later in the week.

San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said there is a chance RB Ronnie Brown (hamstring) will be able to play Week 16.
Huddle Up: With Ryan Mathews lost for the season, a healthy Brown would be the logical replacement. If Brown misses a second straight week, though, look for Curtis Brinkley and Jackie Battle to share the RB duties in Week 16.

San Diego Chargers RB Ronnie Brown (hamstring), LB Donald Butler (groin), OT Jeromey Clary (knee) and OG Tyronne Green (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Dec. 14, and are doubtful for Week 15.
Huddle Up: There aren't likely many fantasy GMs counting on Brown, but on the flip side, this is a bit of welcome news for Ryan Mathews' fantasy owners, who haven't had a whole lot of it this season.

San Diego Chargers' RB Ronnie Brown (hamstring), LB Donald Butler (groin), OT Jeromey Clary (knee), OG Tyronne Green (hamstring) and LB Demorrio Williams (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 12.
Huddle Up: Brown has been getting steady work -- most of it on third down -- and if he's limited or can't go Sunday, Ryan Mathews will be in line for more touches against the Panthers. Sure, Mathews has been a deep disappointment, but more work against the league's sixth-worst fantasy run defense could be a recipe for a surprise showing.
