Free-agent TE Tony Scheffler (Lions) has decided to retire after suffering three concussions in the last four seasons.
Huddle Up: Scheffler was due to lose playing time in Detroit anyway given their selection of Eric Ebron in the first round, but the multiple concussions certainly didn't help the situation.

Updating a previous report, the Detroit Lions released TE Tony Scheffler on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Huddle Up: Scheffler, who has missed the past 2 games with a concussion, saw his 4-year run with the team come to an end. The Lions, meanwhile, are moving on with the 1-2 TE duo of Brandon Pettigrew and emerging rookie Joseph Fauria.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz did not rule out the possibility of TE Tony Scheffler (concussion) being placed on Injured Reserve.
Huddle Up: Scheffler, who only has 7 catches for 82 yards this season, has been lost in the Lions' TE shuffle this season with Brandon Pettigrew still around and the emergence of 6-foot-7 rookie Christian Fauria, who hauled in 3 TD receptions in Week 6.
