Drew Stanton | QB | Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he will be naming a starting quarterback before the start of training camp because he believes it is easier for a team to get behind one quarterback than have a competition. QB Drew Stanton is expected to have an early edge over QBs John Skelton and Brian Hoyer because he worked in Arians' offense this season. Arians said he does not believe the team needs to add another quarterback this offseason and will not look to reach for a quarterback during the 2013 NFL Draft. He said he would be comfortable with Stanton as the starting quarterback.
Huddle Up: Stanton's familiarity with the Arians offense definitely gives him a leg up, and we've seen nothing from either Skelton or Hoyer to think they're capable of blowing past him in a short competition. It also doesn't sound as if the Cards intend to use an early draft pick on a quarterback. That deflating sound you hear is any remaining air rushing out of Larry Fitzgerald's fantasy value.

Arizona Cardinals QBs Brian Hoyer and Drew Stanton are expected to compete for the starting quarterback job next season.
Huddle Up: Meanwhile, Larry Fitzgerald is curled up in the fetal position, emotionally looking for his happy place.

The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with free-agent QB Drew Stanton on a three-year deal. Stanton received a three-year deal worth $20 million, with $3 million in guaranteed money.
Huddle Up: Stanton is the fourth quarterback on Arizona's roster, none of them particularly distinguished. With Kevin Kolb due a $2 million roster bonus this weekend, we'll know shortly if Stanton was brought in to start or just to be another guy Arizona cycles through the position.
