The San Diego Chargers signed free-agent WR Lavelle Hawkins (49ers) and elevated LB Thomas Keiser from the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Huddle Up: Hawkins is a journeyman who spent 5 seasons with the Titans, and is strictly bottom-of-the-depth-chart fodder with Malcom Floyd landing on IR Tuesday.

New England Patriots WR Lavelle Hawkins is likely to get an opportunity to return punts in the preseason.
Huddle Up: Hawkins is a journeyman wideout who notched 47 receptions in his best season (2011) with the Titans, but only had 24 catches combined in his other 4 seasons in Tennessee. Don't expect much in New England, even with the Pats' current need for pass-catchers.

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR Lavelle Hawkins signed a two-year deal worth as much as $3.065 million.
Huddle Up: Throw Hawkins into the collective of Patriots receivers, though he's unlikely to rise through the ranks to a point where he becomes a fantasy factor.

The New England Patriots signed free-agent WR Lavelle Hawkins (Titans) to a two-year deal.
Huddle Up: Hawkins, a fourth-round pick by the Titans in 2008, has had one semi-productive year (47-470 in 2011) in 5 NFL seasons. In the other 4, he's finished with single-digit receptions, including his 5-62 2012 campaign in which he was slowed by an ankle injury. In New England, he joins an ever-expanding WR cast which includes free agents Danny Amendola, Michael Jenkins and Donald Jones and draft picks Josh Boyce and Aaron Dobson.

The Tennessee Titans have informed WR Lavelle Hawkins that he will be released.
Huddle Up: The Titans drafted Justin Hunter in the second round to go with former first-rounders Kenny Britt and Kendall Wright; add in Nate Washington, newly signed Kevin Walter, and Damien Williams and there just isn't a place for Hawkins on the roster.

Tennessee Titans WRs Lavelle Hawkins and Marc Mariani likely will have to compete for roster spots during training camp because of the addition of WR Kevin Walter.
Huddle Up: Mariani has return skills, which could give him a leg up. Aside from Mariani's return yardage, neither has done enough to warrant much fantasy attention; that doesn't look like it will be changing any time soon.
