Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he wants LB Brian Orakpo rushing the quarterback more often this season. 'We want to get Brian rushing more than he has in the past, especially on third down,' Gruden said. 'Turn him loose, meaning also that when he has his hand down and he's rushing, he needs to rush. There's sometimes he's just peeking around and not getting up the field. Brian Baker ... will help him out quite a bit.'
Huddle Up: Orakpo made an instant impression with 11 sacks as a rookie in 2009, but has fallen short of that mark in the 4 seasons since. He did, however, come close with 10 sacks this past year.

The Washington Redskins continue to talk with impending free-agent LB Brian Orakpo about a new contract, but no timetable has been set at this point. The Redskins still have the option to place the franchise tag on Orakpo if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement.
Huddle Up: Orakpo, who missed all but 2 games in 2012, is coming off a solid bounce-back season in which he paced the Skins with 10 sacks -- the second-highest season total of his career.

Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo looks good in practice, with no apparent carryover from the pectoral tear he suffered in 2012.
Huddle Up: Orakpo just turned 27 and had missed only 1 game in the 3 seasons prior to last year so there's no reason not to expect a full recovery.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo said he is not ruling out the possibility of signing a contract extension before the start of training camp. Orakpo is entering the final year of his current deal.
Huddle Up: A bit of a tough time to be eyeing an extension coming off a torn pectoral muscle that sidelined him for 1.5 games of the 2012 season. Orakpo, though, had only missed 1 game in 3 seasons prior to that, so there's no reason to believe it's really anything more than a 1-time stroke of bad injury luck.
