Updating a previous report, Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing (knee) was on crutches after the Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to the left knee injury he suffered during the game. He is believed to have a torn lateral cruciate ligament in his left leg which will likely require surgery. The injury is not believed to be as bad as last season when he missed 11 games due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee, but he is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season. He is also believed to have a broken leg, according to sources. He will have an MRI Monday, Oct. 21.
Huddle Up: Cushing is snakebitten. Darryl Sharpton might be your best bet at replacing Cushing in IDP leagues.

Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing agreed to terms Tuesday, Sept. 3 on a 6-year contract extension that pays $55.643 million, with $21 million guaranteed.
Huddle Up: Cushing totalled 29 tackles, one interception, two passes defensed and a forced fumble in 5 games before an ACL tear cut his season short. There's no question the Texans' D has more teeth with Cushing in the lineup, but we'll see if he can live up to his shiny new deal.

Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing (knee) has received clearance from Dr. James Andrews to participate once training camp begins. The team likely will limit Cushing's participation early in camp.
Huddle Up: Good news for the Texans' D/ST and the team's other IDPs as Cushing is a productive team leader. Now the key for the LB is staying on the field as he's missed a combined 15 games over the past 3 seasons.

Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing (knee) expects to be back for Week 1 of the 2013 NFL season, and possibly for the first day of training camp.
Huddle Up: Cushing, the 2009 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, played only five games in 2012, and the Texans' D definitely appeared to lose some bite after he was shelved for the season. The sooner he's healthier, the better for Houston.

Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing (knee) could start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list because he is returning from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Cushing, though, reportedly is ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Huddle Up: Getting a healhy Cushing back is vital for the Texans, who were 5-0 in games started by the LB and 8-5 (including the postseason) without him.
