Green Bay Packers LBs Clay Matthews (thumb) and Nick Perry (foot) took part in limited practice Wednesday, Nov. 6, and were cleared to take part in a full practice Thursday, Nov. 7. If they don't suffer setbacks, it appears they will both return in Week 10. Matthews will need to be fitted with a cast to protect his hand.
Huddle Up: Bad timing for Nick Foles and the Eagles as this will amp up the Packers' pass rush Sunday, provided the cast doesn't hamper Matthews' ability to grip and grab too much. Matthews has been out since getting injured Week 6, and Perry went out the following week.

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (thumb) had surgery on his broken thumb Monday, Oct. 7. He's expected to miss more than a month, but an exact timetable isn't known.
Huddle Up: Tough news for the Packers, who already have the 10th-fewest sacks in the league with 12 and now will have to do without their best pass-rusher for a while.

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (thumb) is expected to miss at least one month because of his broken thumb.
Huddle Up: Tough blow for the Packers' D who just got their best defensive player back from a hamstring injury. Matthews could also need surgery, and that could push back his return even later.

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (thumb), who is dealing with a fractured thumb, could need surgery that would force him to miss several games. However, it's possible that Matthews will be able to play with a protective cast on his hand if he doesn't undergo surgery. The team will know Monday, Oct. 7, if he'll need to have surgery.
Huddle Up: This would be a big blow to the GB defense and your IDP leagues if you own Matthews. Check in to see whether he will miss time or not.

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said everything looks good with LB Clay Matthews (hamstring) and he fully expects him to play in the team's Week 5 game.
Huddle Up: Looks like the Pack's early bye last week came at the right time for Matthews, who leads the team with 2 sacks and also has 13 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Sept. 30.
Huddle Up: Matthews, who has 13 total tackles, 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles left the Week 3 game early and still hasn't returned to the field a (bye) week later. See if the Pro Bowler can take some strides over the coming days.

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews signed a five-year contract extension that is expected to pay just north of $13 million dollars a season.
Huddle Up: It was just a matter of time until the Packers inked Matthews to a deal, and now it's official: he'll be wearing green and gold and terrorizing opposing quarterbacks for the foreseeable future.

The Green Bay Packers will likely have to make LB Clay Matthews one of the highest-paid linebackers in the league in order to get him to commit to a long-term deal. Matthews will count $4.91 million against the salary cap this year, making him the eighth-most expensive player heading into 2013. He will likely command a deal that would pay him $8 to $11 million per year that would guarantee him around $29.5 million. Green Bay also has the option of placing the franchise tag on Matthews for around $9 million.
Huddle Up: Matthews was limited to 12 games last year due to a balky hamstring but is certainly worth a sizable investment as he's notched the fourth-most sacks (42.5) in the league since entering the NFL in 2009.

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (hamstring) is listed as probable for the Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears, but he might be limited in his number of snaps, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. 'I think we'd be smart to watch his reps. It's something we've talked about with him personally and a number of guys coming back,' McCarthy said Friday, Dec. 14. 'This is a very important game, but there's more left to be played after this game.'
Huddle Up: Matthews has to be charged up to go after a 6-week absence, but do expect his snaps to be rationed. That said, it's a great matchup for the LB, who wreaked havoc against the Bears with 7 tackles and 4 sacks in Week 2.

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (hamstring) was participating during the media-access portion of practice Wednesday, Dec. 12.
Huddle Up: At least one of Green Bay's key defenders will be back. Charles Woodson will be out for at least one more week, but Matthews returns in what is a nice matchup against that Bears offensive line. If you own him in an IDP league and were able to hold out this long, time to get him in your lineup. This also dings Cutler a bit, though Matthews can't possibly get to him on every play, right?
