New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese is excited about what WR Louis Murphy can bring to the team as a speedy deep threat next season.
Huddle Up: Murphy feels like Victor Cruz insurance. If Cruz returns, Murphy is fighting Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Rueben Randle for snaps. Now if the Giants opt not to re-sign Cruz, or Cruz holds out, then Murphy's blip on the fantasy radar gets a little bit brighter.

Updating a previous report, the New York Giants have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Louis Murphy on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Murphy provides insurance for the Giants' receiving corps should another team try to sign Victor Cruz away via restricted free agency, as well as depth behind a unit that has been plenty banged up over the past few seasons.

The Carolina Panthers sent an undisclosed conditional pick to the Oakland Raiders for WR Louis Murphy.
Huddle Up: It's potentially a productive move for Carolina, as Murphy possesses real talent. Murphy's had some nagging leg injuries but his career average per catch is a gaudy 15.2.

Oakland Raiders WR Louis Murphy (hamstring) missed the first two weeks of organized team activities (OTAs), but he was a full go last week, and he figured to remain as such for this week's mandatory mini-camp. 'It's important, it's important for me to go out there and help the team win,' Murphy said. 'Whatever the coaches see best for me, that's where I am going to be at. It's a crucial year for me and I am just accepting it with open arms.'
Huddle Up: Murphy is a heckuva raw talent who can burn single coverage, but since 2010 he's missed seven games and parts of two or three others. With a healthy Murphy the Raiders have the fastest top-four WRs in all of football, along with Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore, and Jacoby Ford.
