The New England Patriots have re-signed WR Julian Edelman. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Edelman was Tom Brady's favorite target last season, so at least Brady and the New England passing game will have some continuity heading into 2014.

Free-agent WR Julian Edelman (Patriots) will be testing the free-agent market, because he did not think the New England Patriots' offer was fair value. Edelman is also not happy that the team placed a deadline on him to respond to their offer.
Huddle Up: The Pats lost Wes Welker a year ago, and now they stand to lose Edelman, who hit career highs this past season with 105 catches for 1,056 yards and 6 TDs. We haven't heard from Tom Brady, but he and his keeper-league owners can't be happy.

The New England Patriots discussed a new contract with impending free-agent WR Julian Edelman Thursday, March 6.
Huddle Up: Edelman is coming off a career season (105-1,056-6), and he still would remain a very intriguing option -- particularly in PPR leagues -- if he stays with the Pats as part of an upgraded receiving corps.

It is unlikely that the New England Patriots will use the franchise tag on WR Julian Edelman this off season, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston, in part because of how much it would cost to use it.
Huddle Up: Look for the Pats to work around the tag and try to re-sign their leading pass-catcher, a year after being hurt by losing too many of Tom Brady's top weapons.

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (head) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 16. The extent of his injury is not known at this point.
Huddle Up: It looks like Julian Edelman gets new life in fantasy leagues, particularly of the PPR variety. He is worth a start if Amendola is out, which looks to be the case.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman caught a career-high 13 passes for 78 yards Thursday, Sept. 12 in the team's 13-10 win over the New York Jets.
Huddle Up: Edelman, who caught 7 passes for 79 yards and 2 TDs last week, was far and away Tom Brady's go-to receiver in a sloppy, drop-filled game, more than doubling the reception total (6) of the rest of the team combined Thursday night. With Danny Amendola out, Edelman was clearly the pass-catcher Brady trusted most, garnering 18 targets and producing big time for those fantasy owners who started him in PPR leagues.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman might benefit greatly in terms of targets in Week 2 against the New York Jets Thursday, Sept. 12, if WR Danny Amendola is inactive.
Huddle Up: Edelman has stepped into the Patriots' slot role before, at times with productive results, and last week he scored twice as one of the few receivers Tom Brady was actually familiar with. He projects to be a quality fantasy option, both this week and over the next couple of months with Shane Vereen sidelined with a dislocated wrist.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (undisclosed) left practice early Friday, Aug. 2, after suffering an undisclosed injury.
Huddle Up: Edelman had been getting some time running with the first-team offense but just as soon as he got back on the field, Edelman is injured again. Edelman showed last season that he can be a productive receiver in the Patriots' offense but his injury concerns make Edelman a risky fantasy pick.

The New England Patriots have activated WR Julian Edelman (foot) from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Edelman is participating in practice Thursday, Aug. 1.
Huddle Up: At last, some good news for the Pats. Definitely keep an eye on Edelman as his familiarity with the offense as one of the few returning New England pass-catchers could bode very well for him on the stat sheet in 2013.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman is the team's best bet to line up as the No. 2 wide receiver in Week 1, according to ESPNBoston.com writer Mike Reiss. The receiver missed a chunk of offseason activities because he was rehabbing from a foot injury, but Reiss believes Edelman's biggest advantages are the trust he has earned from QB Tom Brady and his knowledge of the offense. Reiss believes that Edelman should quickly ascend the depth chart once training camp begins, as long as he's healthy. Reiss makes a lot of sense. Edelman is receiving virtually no fantasy attention as training camps approach, but there are certainly opportunities available. Edelman's knowledge of the playbook is distinctly beneficial in his competition with all the newbies in New England. Consider him a possible deep sleeper, although the upside is probably not great.
Huddle Up: Maybe now the Pats will shift from a 2-TE oriented attack to a 2-slot receiver based offense featuring Edelman and newcomer Danny Amendola. Don't discount the idea for a moment as Bill Belichick almost always caters to his team's strengths.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman has a good chance to win a roster spot during training camp if he is able to stay healthy. Edelman has shown chemistry with QB Tom Brady in the past.
Huddle Up: With Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd gone there's a need for a receiver to step up. And if New England's tight end tandem is also unavailable for the start of the season, Edelman would open the year as the Patriots' top returning target.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman remains in a walking boot following an offseason surgical procedure on his right foot.
Huddle Up: With Edelman and TE Rob Gronkowski MIA this offseason, it's scary to think that new slot man Danny Amendola very well could enter the season as one of the Pats' healthiest pass catchers. Yikes.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman is in a walking boot after a clean-up procedure on his right foot. He's still expected to be ready for training camp, but he could miss OTAs.
Huddle Up: Edelman is in the mix for a substantial role in the Patriots' passing game, and while missing OTAs won't be a killer it does allow other receivers an opportunity to leapfrog ahead of him on the depth chart.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman is back in a walking boot after re-injuring his right foot. It is the same injury that put him on injured reserve in 2012. He likely will be limited in the team's upcoming minicamp.
Huddle Up: Edelman, who had 21 catches for 235 yards and 3 TDs in 9 games this past season, was brought back as slot insurance should new acquisition Danny Amendola miss time -- as has been his NFL M.O. That's not going to work, though, if the insurance policy also is unavailable.
