Chris Johnson - RB - Free Agent

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson's (Titans) visit with the New York Jets reportedly went well Tuesday, April 15, but he left without a deal. Other teams are involved with him, too.
Huddle Up: Johnson, who will be hard-pressed to find a better fit, would bring the speed and playmaking ability the Jets need. He's never gained fewer than 1,422 yards from scrimmage in his 6 NFL seasons, while the Jets only have had one RB (Thomas Jones in 2008 & '09) reach that total over the past decade.
Dion Jordan - DE - Miami Dolphins
(4/15/2014 10:19pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Miami Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey is expecting big things from DE Dion Jordan in his second season this year. "He's a very talented player, and this is a big offseason for him," Hickey said. "Last year with his shoulder he didn't have an opportunity to have a full offseason. That's so important. Developing and getting your body -- not just the physical reps but the mental reps -- getting in the weight room and all those things is such an important part to get these guys ready to make that jump."
Huddle Up: The third-overall pick had to deal with a preseason shoulder injury and never found a groove, recording only 2 sacks and accounting for 26 total tackles as a rookie. From there, the only place to go is up.
Sidney Rice - WR - Free Agent
(4/15/2014 10:19pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Carolina Panthers might show an interest in free-agent WR Sidney Rice (Seahawks), but only at the right price.
Huddle Up: The Panthers have already signed Jerricho Cotchery, Jason Avant and Tiquan Underwood this offseason, so why not throw another veteran wideout with something to prove into the mix as they completely rebuild their WR corps?
Ryan Clark - S - Washington Redskins
(4/15/2014 10:19pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Washington Redskins' Ryan Clark is expected to be the team's starting free safety this upcoming season.
Huddle Up: Clark has missed only 5 starts over the past 6 seasons in Pittsburgh, and he's averaged 98 total tackles, 6 passes defensed and 2 interceptions per year over that span. That certainly sounds like starting material for the safety-needy Skins.
Dustin Keller - TE - Free Agent
(4/15/2014 4:06pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The New England Patriots could show interest in free-agent TE Dustin Keller (Dolphins) at some point this offseason.
Huddle Up: The Pats obviously know Keller well from his days with the rival Jets, where he averaged 53 catches and 640 yards and 4 TDs a year during his first 4 seasons in N.Y., but he's coming off a multi-ligament knee injury in the 2013 preseason that cost him all of last season.
Von Miller - LB - Denver Broncos
(4/15/2014 4:06pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Denver Broncos LB Von Miller said his surgically repaired knee is feeling good and hopes to play better than he did before he suffered his injury. 'I'm a 100 percent positive I'll be able to come back not only be the same Von, (but) I got to be better. You come back and be the same guy it's like you go 'it's the same Von again' and I got to be better,' Miller said.
Huddle Up: Miller, who recorded 30 sacks and forced 9 fumbles in his first 2 seasons, has shed the extra 20 pounds that many feel hampered his play last season, and a healthy return could give the Broncos perhaps the league's best pass-rushing 1-2 punch with the signing of DeMarcus Ware.
Matt Flynn - QB - Green Bay Packers
(4/15/2014 3:56pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Green Bay Packers agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal to re-sign QB Matt Flynn on Tuesday, April 15, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Flynn will remain with the Pack and is expected to battle Scott Tolzien for the backup job. Last season, Flynn went 2-2 as a starter after re-signing with G.B., throwing for 1,146 yards, 7 TDs and 4 interceptions.
Brandon Lloyd - WR - San Francisco 49ers
(4/15/2014 3:56pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, April 15 signed WR Brandon Lloyd to an undisclosed 1-year deal.
Huddle Up: Lloyd sat out last season after his 74-catch, 911-yard 2012 campaign in New England and gives the Niners some veteran insurance behind starters Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin. Don't be surprised, however, if the Niners still draft a wideout next month.
Kyle Rudolph - TE - Minnesota Vikings
(4/15/2014 3:56pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (foot) said he has been running since mid-February and has experienced no foot problems.
Huddle Up: Rudolph missed half of the Vikes' season a year ago with a foot injury and is a strong fantasy bounce-back candidate in light of his 53-493-9 campaign in 2012.
Chris Johnson - RB - Free Agent
(4/15/2014 3:56pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The New York Jets are visiting with free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Titans) Tuesday, April 15.
Huddle Up: Could the CJ2K sweepstakes come down to a pair of AFC East rivals with the Bills also rumored to be interested in the RB, who has averaged 1,661 yards from scrimmage in his 6 NFL seasons? The Jets would seem to be a better fit, but stay tuned . . .
Sidney Rice - WR - Seattle Seahawks
(4/14/2014 11:12pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Free-agent WR Sidney Rice (knee) has been cleared to participate in football activities by Dr. James Andrews, according to a source. The Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers are believed to have some interest in Rice.
Huddle Up: Rice is among a handful of solid veteran wideouts still looking for a team this offseason. Now that he's healthy, he can start demonstrating his wares and land a club before offseason workouts ramp up.
Aldon Smith - LB - San Francisco 49ers
(4/14/2014 10:47am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers LB Aldon Smith was released from a Los Angeles jail Sunday, April 13, after posting $20,000 bail, shortly after being charged with making a false bomb threat earlier in the day at Los Angeles International Airport. A LAPD spokesman said although it was observed Smith may have been drinking prior to the incident, it was not a factor to his arrest.
Huddle Up: Smith has already run afoul of the league's substance abuse policy, so if this incident turns out to be a relapse he could be looking at a more extended league-mandated vacation. And with the 49ers needing to make a decision on an option year for Smith prior to the upcoming draft, they'll need to thoroughly investigate the situation sooner rather than later.
Eli Manning - QB - New York Giants
(4/14/2014 12:04am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The New York Giants are concerned QB Eli Manning is entering the decline stage of his career. The team opted not to extend his deal, which runs through 2015, even though it would grant them salary-cap relief.
Huddle Up: Going by the numbers, Manning's completion percentage and TD pass totals have declined in each of the past 4 seasons, while his QB rating has dipped in each of the last 3 years. Still, other elements such as the talent around him and the pressure he's been under --he was sacked a career-high 39 times this past season -- also have to be factored in to the equation. From a fantasy perspective, Manning remains a low-end QB2 until proven otherwise.
Anthony Spencer - DE - Free Agent
(4/14/2014 12:04am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Dallas Cowboys could consider re-signing free-agent DE Anthony Spencer (knee) to a short-term contract if they are comfortable with his recovery.
Huddle Up: Provided he can pass a physical, someone -- if not his former team -- is sure to take a flier on Spencer, who had a career-high 11 sacks and 95 total tackles in 2012 before being limited to 1 game this past season.
Aldon Smith - LB - San Francisco 49ers
(4/13/2014 10:39pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers LB Aldon Smith was arrested Sunday, April 13, at Los Angeles International Airport after he made a threat that he possessed a bomb, airport police said. Smith reacted in a belligerent manner to a second security screening when he was in a security line. After making the bomb threat, he proceeded to the gate and airport police were summoned. He was detained and subsequently arrested. 'We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment,' general manager Trent Baalke said. In the past 27 months, Smith has been arrested twice for driving under the influence, and he faces three felony weapons charges stemming from a party at his home in June 2012. Smith was stabbed during that incident, and two others were shot.
Huddle Up: Another month, another off-field incident for the talented (42 sacks in 43 career games) but obviously troubled Smith, who spent some team-mandated time on the reserve non-football injury list last season to get things together after his second DUI arrest. However, his continuing legal problems might soon take those decisions out of the Niners' and NFL's hands.
Jermichael Finley - TE - Free Agent
(4/13/2014 10:39pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Miami Dolphins have talked to free-agent TE Jermichael Finley (Packers).
Huddle Up: With Miami head coach Joe Philbin having spent 5 years as the Pack's offensive coordinator, it should be no shock that the 'Fins would be interested in Finley, and if the TE is medically cleared to resume playing, don't be surprised if they're one of the top contenders to land his services.
Chris Johnson - RB - Free Agent
(4/13/2014 4:22pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Miami Dolphins likely will not sign free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Titans) because they added RB Knowshon Moreno earlier in the offseason.
Huddle Up: Yeah, a Lamar Miller-Daniel Thomas-Moreno-CJ2K backfield might get a little too crowded.
Chad Johnson - WR - Free Agent
(4/13/2014 4:22pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Montreal Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said the team has been talking with free-agent WR Chad Johnson (Patriots) about a contract and will work him out Tuesday, April 15.
Huddle Up: No vital fantasy news here -- unless you're in a long-time CFL league. In any case, just an update on the the former Ochocinco, who hasn't caught an NFL pass since 2011.
Adrian Peterson - RB - Minnesota Vikings
(4/13/2014 4:22pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could be used more in passing plays this season with the departure of RB Toby Gerhart.
Huddle Up: AD has averaged 29 catches and 242 receiving yards over his 7 seasons in Minny and was right about at his average last year with 29-171-1. That could certainly change, though, with new OC Norv Turner taking the Purple reins.
Deonte Thompson - WR - Baltimore Ravens
(4/13/2014 3:52pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The drug charges against Baltimore Ravens WR Deonte Thompson have been dropped because of insufficient evidence. Thompson was arrested in February for suspicion of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Huddle Up: Thompson appears to be in the clear off the field, but he might find it hard to land a Ravens' roster spot for a third straight season with Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, Jacoby Jones and Marlon Brown all ahead of him on the Baltimore WR depth chart.
Anthony Armstrong - WR - Free Agent
(4/13/2014 3:52pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Washington Redskins recently worked out free-agent WR Anthony Armstrong (Cowboys).
Huddle Up: Armstrong caught 44 passes for 871 yards and 3 TDs as an undrafted rookie in 2010 in D.C. but has only 10 grabs for 115 yards and 2 TDs since, including a season out of football in 2013. Even if he get a camp invite, he'll have a hard time making the Skins' roster given the team's recent signing of DeSean Jackson and its WR depth.
Rob Gronkowski - TE - New England Patriots
(4/13/2014 3:52pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski met with Dr. James Andrews this week to have his to have his surgically repaired knee examined. Gronkowski was told that his recovery is right on schedule. Gronkowski will be able to start jogging in the near future.
Huddle Up: As has been the case for the past 2 years, it's an offseason filled with checkups and medical updates for Gronk. Stay tuned to see if the progress continues.
