Eddie Lacy - RB - Green Bay Packers
(8/1/2014 6:15pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is enjoying a strong training camp one week in, breaking powerful runs into the secondary on a daily basis. 'You know, I don't think he even cares if it's a zone or a gap scheme,' backup Packers QB Matt Flynn said. 'He's going to find the hole. He's one of those guys that hates being on the ground.' Lacy 'couldn't have looked any better,' according to one media source.
Huddle Up: Fantasy owners certainly are anticipating a big season from the second-year back as he currently owns a top-10 overall ADP and trails only LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson among RBs.
Eric Berry - S - Kansas City Chiefs
(8/1/2014 6:09pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs SS Eric Berry is expected to miss a couple days of practice with a heel injury.
Huddle Up: Berry's injury, suffered in practice Thursday, was originally reported to be an ankle injury. Continue to keep an eye on this, although indications are the All-Pro should emerge just fine after a few days off.
Datone Jones - DE - Green Bay Packers
(8/1/2014 6:09pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Green Bay Packers DE Datone Jones reported to camp at 285 pounds, which was his playing weight as a rookie, and he said he lost body fat and feels stronger. He is starting at left end in the base 3-4 defense this year and is playing alongside DE Mike Daniels in the sub pass rush. Jones has been struggling a bit in camp during rush drills, however. The common denominator appeared to be an inability to finish in drills Thursday, July 31.
Huddle Up: The 2013 first-round pick seemingly has picked up where he left off in his disappointing rookie season which netted 0 starts, 3.5 sacks and only 11 total tackles.
T.Y. Hilton - WR - Indianapolis Colts
(8/1/2014 6:03pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton returned to practice Friday, Aug. 1. Hilton is dealing with a jammed right index finger, which was wrapped.
Huddle Up: As expected, it looks to be non-issue for the big-play wideout.
Eli Manning - QB - New York Giants
(8/1/2014 6:03pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
New York Giants QB Eli Manning will play in the team's first preseason game Sunday, Aug. 3, according to head coach Tom Coughlin.
Huddle Up: Look for a series or two from Eli and his first-team running mates as we see get the first real glimpse of Ben McAddo's new offense.
Josh Gordon - WR - Cleveland Browns
(8/1/2014 6:03pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is not expected to get a decision on his appeal hearing until Monday, Aug. 4, at the earliest.
Huddle Up: Really, what's another few days in this saga which has been dragging on all offseason?
Geno Smith - QB - New York Jets
(8/1/2014 2:33pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
New York Jets QB Geno Smith will start the team's scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 2.
Huddle Up: It's the next step for the second-year QB in his bid to hold off veteran free-agent Michael Vick and grab control of the Jets' starting gig.
Eric Decker - WR - New York Jets
(8/1/2014 2:33pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
New York Jets WR Eric Decker is dealing with a minor hamstring issue, according to head coach Rex Ryan.
Huddle Up: Yeah, another camp, another player, another ailing hammy. Keep posted to see if the FA wideout can get past it fairly quickly.
Nick Fairley - DT - Detroit Lions
(8/1/2014 2:33pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Detroit Lions DT Nick Fairley was sentenced to a 6-month suspended sentence and one year of probation Thursday, July 31, for a 2012 driving under the influence of alcohol arrest. It is unclear whether he will face discipline from the NFL. Fairley intends to appeal the decision.
Huddle Up: Unfortunately, this hasn't been the only off-field issue for Fairley, so some sort of league punishment could be forthcoming for the DT, who is coming off a career-high 6 sacks and 35 total tackles in 2013 season and is entering a contract year.
Allen Robinson - WR - Jacksonville Jaguars
(8/1/2014 2:22pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson will miss at least two weeks with a hamstring injury.
Huddle Up: This pumps the brakes somewhat on the rookie wideout's camp momentum as he's in the running to start opposite Cecil Shorts. Meanwhile, fellow 2nd-rounder Marqise Lee stands as the player who could gain the most.
Arian Foster - RB - Houston Texans
(8/1/2014 2:22pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster is not practicing Friday, Aug. 1.
Huddle Up: Foster has been in and out of practices all camp, but then again there's no sense in adding extra wear and tear for the RB, who's coming off back surgery.
Jermichael Finley - TE - Free Agent
(8/1/2014 2:22pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Seattle Seahawks are not looking at free-agent TE Jermichael Finley (Packers) after losing TE Anthony McCoy (Achilles) to an apparent torn Achilles tendon.
Huddle Up: The Hawks apparently are content with the duo of Zach Miller and Luke Willson, leaving Finley still searching for a 2014 home.
Shaun Suisham - PK - Pittsburgh Steelers
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Pittsburgh Steelers PK Shaun Suisham signed a four-year extension with the team.
Huddle Up: If you're into kickers, the Steelers have theirs locked down for the foreseeable future... or at least until he misses three or four in a row.
Peyton Hillis - RB - New York Giants
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis handled the bulk of the repetitions with the second-team offense Thursday, July 31. RB Andre Williams continued to receive most of the goal line carries.
Huddle Up: Williams as the goal line guy is intriguing, especially in leagues with a TD-heavy scoring system. And with David Wilson unlikely to return, looks like Hillis is the complement to Rashad Jennings--probably good fantasy news for Jennings.
Mohamed Sanu - WR - Cincinnati Bengals
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu is generating strong buzz in camp, which could lead to more time in the slot and more catches this season if things work out.
Huddle Up: Sanu projects to be a complementary part of the Bengals' receiver rotation, but if he plays well he could push the currently-sidelined Marvin Jones for wingman duties alongside AJ Green.
Dez Bryant - WR - Dallas Cowboys
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
The Dallas Cowboys will have the franchise tag exception ready for WR Dez Bryant in the 2014-15 offseason, but the club has said it remains committed to locking Bryant up to an extension before then.
Huddle Up: Jerry Jones wants to keep Bryant around and has the money and flexibility to do so. It'll happen, be it sooner or later.
DeSean Jackson - WR - Washington Redskins
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
A federal court hearing will take place Monday, Aug. 4, to determine whether Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson will have to repay agent Drew Rosenhaus $516,000 as an NFL arbitrator previously ruled.
Huddle Up: A little off-the-field drama for D-Jax, though his paychecks from Dan Snyder should soften the blow of serving up half a mil to Drew Rosenhaus.
Ryan Broyles - WR - Detroit Lions
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') is trying to take things one day at a time after two days of training camp following a torn Achilles' tendon in 2013, saying he feels 'pretty good right now.' Broyles missed time in 2011 and 2012 with torn anterior cruciate ligaments in both knees, and he understands how to prepare for a season while rehabbing a major injury. Broyles has a new speed coach and is working on becoming more explosive, while not putting too much stress on his knees.
Huddle Up: If Broyles can stay healthy he could be a real threat against defenses focused on stopping Calvin Johnson. Of course, if the Lions believed Broyles could stay healthy they wouldn't have signed Golden Tate in the offseason to be Megatron's wingman.
Cole Beasley - WR - Dallas Cowboys
(8/1/2014 11:17am et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley may not come off the field when Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is moved around. Beasley primarily works out of the slot, but Bryant sometimes will move into the slot to take advantage of a mismatch. Bryant went as far as calling Beasley a 'rare talent' and praised the third-year receiver's ability to get open and make plays. Beasley has worked to improve his blocking skills, an area of his game he noted needs to get better. Beasley is stronger, which will help him beat press coverage, according to Dallas head coach Jason Garrett.
Huddle Up: Regardless of how good Beasley looks, he's fighting an uphill battle in the Dallas receiver rotation. At best he projects to be a WR3, where he'll contend with TE2 Gavin Escobar for playing time and Tony Romo's attention.
Julio Jones - WR - Atlanta Falcons
(7/31/2014 11:59pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is working with a restricted snap count during training camp and is wearing special shoes designed to take stress of the bone that he fractured in his right foot last season.
Huddle Up: As fully expected, Jones is taking it slow along the comeback trail. Expect his exhibition game snaps to be limited as well.
Brian Hoyer - QB - Cleveland Browns
(7/31/2014 11:59pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer and QB Johnny Manziel remain in a close battle for the starting quarterback job, according to offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan said the competition has been 'back and forth' and that he doesn't 'think one is in front of the other.'
Huddle Up: May be a little diplomacy on Shanny Jr.'s part as most reports out of Browns camp have had Hoyer with a solid lead. Shanahan did add, though, that Manziel will be spending some time working with the first-team offense to even up the competition. We'd say to stay tuned to this situation, but you really have no choice if you follow the NFL at any level.
Pat Angerer - LB - Atlanta Falcons
(7/31/2014 11:59pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Atlanta Falcons LB Pat Angerer suffered a head injury during practice Tuesday, July 29, and has yet to be cleared through the NFL's concussion protocol.
Huddle Up: Just the latest setback for the star-crossed LB who is trying to help fill the void created by Sean Weatherspoon's season-ending injury earlier in camp.
Reggie Wayne - WR - Indianapolis Colts
(7/31/2014 11:47pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne said he hasn't had any problems so far with his surgically repaired right knee.
Huddle Up: So far so good this summer for the soon-to-be 36-year-old Wayne. Nonetheless, there will be much more competition for targets with the emergence of T.Y. Hilton, the free-agent signing of Hakeem Nicks, the selection of Donte Moncrief in the third round and the return of TE Dwayne Allen, who missed all but 1 game last season with a hip injury.
Donald Brown - RB - San Diego Chargers
(7/31/2014 11:47pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
San Diego Chargers RB Donald Brown returned kicks in practice Thursday, July 31.
Huddle Up: You wouldn't think Brown received the big free-agent $$$ to serve as a kickoff-return specialist, particularly since he's only had one career kick return (for 21 yards) in his 5 seasons in Indy. See if it continues as the preseason progresses.
Darrius Heyward-Bey - WR - Pittsburgh Steelers
(7/31/2014 11:47pm et)  Share this news item on Facebook! Tweet this news item!
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey reportedly left practice Thursday, July 31, with concussion symptoms.
Huddle Up: Not that concussions ever arrive at opportune times, but it's particularly bad timing for DHB who's already facing an uphill battle to land a roster spot in the Steel City.
