Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) has shed the walking boot on his surgically repaired right leg and is back home in Hawaii, where he is running on the beach as part of his rehab from a broken fibula that he suffered Dec. 24. He expects to be ready by training camp.

Huddle Up: Mariota continues to be on track in his recovery, as the goal has always been for him to be ready by training camp. At this rate, it looks like he'll be back at 100 percent going into next season, meaning owners can draft him with high expectations after his breakout campaign in 2016. Mariota could easily wind up being one of the best value picks at quarterback, having legitimate QB1 potential.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) has ditched the scooter that helped him keep weight off his repaired right leg and switched to a walking boot Tuesday, Feb. 28. It's the next step in his recovery from surgery to fix a broken fibula.

Huddle Up: This is right on schedule for Mariota, as he continues to be on track to return in time for training camp. As long as he returns at 100 percent, he could offer fantasy owners sneaky good value, after exhibiting shades of being a legitimate QB1 in his sophomore campaign this past season. Before going down in Week 16, Mariota registered 3,426 passing yards and 26 touchdowns compared to just nine interceptions. He also ran for 349 yards and recorded two rushing TDs.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) is 'doing very well' in his rehab from a broken fibula, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Huddle Up: The Titans plan on holding Mariota out of OTAs in an effort to make sure he doesn't suffer any kind of needless setback, so he is a very good bet to be fully healthy by the time training camp rolls around. Assuming Tennessee lands a top-notch receiver in the draft as expected, Mariota stands a very good chance of settling in as a midrange QB1 in 2017.

  • Posted: 2/20/2017 1:23pm ET

In 2016, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota became the seventh player in NFL history to throw for at least 6,000 yards and rush for at least 600 yards in his first two seasons combined.

Huddle Up: Mariota appears to be the real deal, although his running ability may get him into trouble. He's already missed five games in his first two years. Even so, he's a low-end QB1 to high-end QB2 consideration for next season's fantasy drafts.

  • Posted: 2/15/2017 11:12am ET

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said the team will be very cautious with QB Marcus Mariota (leg) and probably will keep him out until the start of training camp. Mularkey said Mariota's recovery is on schedule.

Huddle Up: Mariota will have the entire offseason to recover from his fractured fibula and should be ready for training camp. He improved in his second year in the NFL and finished with 3,426 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also added 349 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Mariota should continue to improve and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 2/7/2017 8:36pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota became the first player in franchise history to post back-to-back seasons with a passer rating of 90 or better. In his rookie season in 2015, Mariotta finished with a 91.5 QB rating, before wrapping up his sophomore campaign this past year with a 95.6 QB rating.

Huddle Up: There's no doubt Mariota is one of the league's brightest young quarterbacks, and his fantasy outlook in the years ahead looks very promising due to his dual-threat ability. While his status going into training camp is still a bit up in the air after he fractured his fibula late in the year, Mariota could potentially return terrific value in '17 as long as he's healthy.

  • Posted: 1/25/2017 3:52pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota threw for 1,654 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions at home this season while throwing for 1,772 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions on the road.

Huddle Up: Mariota had a terrific second season in the NFL but probably will miss some of the offseason workouts because of his fractured fibula. He should be an attractive option for fantasy owners next season as long as he is healthy and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback.

  • Posted: 1/19/2017 9:11am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) recently met with a doctor and is on track in his recovery from a broken fibula. Head coach Mike Mularkey said he is not sure when Mariota will be able to practice but expects him to be ready for the start of the season.

Huddle Up: Mariota probably will miss some of the offseason workouts but likely will be ready for training camp. He posted solid numbers this season and could be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback next season.

  • Posted: 1/2/2017 11:53am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) will have the aid of a knee walker/scooter for eight weeks, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Huddle Up: Mariota has plenty of time to make a full recovery from a broken fibula and subsequent surgery. He should be good to go when offseason activities commence and has QB1 potential heading into the 2017 season.

  • Posted: 12/26/2016 4:50pm ET

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said the team believes QB Marcus Mariota (leg) has a chance to be ready for offseason workouts. Mariota is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: The Titans probably will take things slow with Mariota this offseason but he could see some work during the workouts if he is cleared. He finishes the 2016 season with 3,426 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions and also added 349 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a high-end No. 2 quarterback in leagues next season.

  • Posted: 12/26/2016 1:43pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) will undergo surgery on his broken fibula Wednesday, Dec. 26. A plate will be inserted and a four-to-five month recovery period is expected.

Huddle Up: Mariota will have all of the offseason to heal from his serious injury. Matt Cassell is not a recommended starter for seasonal leagues or daily contests. If Mariota can make a full recovery, he'll be a borderline QB1 draft consideration next year.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 1:38pm ET

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) suffered a fractured fibula in the Week 16 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Mike Mularkey confirmed Sunday, Dec. 24.

Huddle Up: With Mariota down and out for the season, Matt Cassel will steer the Titans ship home. Even if you are looking for a DFS value in Week 17, Cassel has very little in the way for fantasy appeal against a Top 5 Houston Texans pass defense in the final week.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 12:20pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (ankle) was carted off the field after suffering an apparent ankle injury in Week 16. Mariota's right ankle was placed in an air cast.

Huddle Up: It appears like Mariota suffered a serious injury and probably will not be able to play in Week 17. Matt Cassel will start as long as Mariota is sidelined but should be avoided by owners.

  • Posted: 12/18/2016 8:01pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 19 of his 33 pass attempts for 241 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the Week 15 game against the Kansas City. He rushed once for minus-2 yards.

Huddle Up: Mariota was very valuable to his real team, but did little for his fantasy team. He'll look for better results in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team ranking in the Top 5 in pass defense in the NFL.

  • Posted: 12/16/2016 9:09pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has eight touchdowns since his last turnover, and quarterbacks coach Jason Michael said Mariota is doing drills designed to help him protect the football two or three times per week.

Huddle Up: Mariota's turnover-free streak faces a tough test in Week 15 against an opportunistic Kansas City defense, but he is still a low-end QB1.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 7:04pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed just six of his 20 pass attempts for 88 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos. He also added eight runs for 38 yards.

Huddle Up: Mariota has had some great fantasy performances this season, but this was a complete stinker at a critical juncture for his owners. It wasn't shocking since Denver is tops in the NFL in pass defense, but this was a really poor stat line.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 4:56pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 15 of his 23 pass attempts for 226 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears. He also rushed four times for 46 yards.

Huddle Up: Mariota has two or more touchdown passes in eight straight outings, and 10 of his 12 starts overall. He has emerged as a solid low-end TE1 in all fantasy formats, although you'll need to make alternate plans in Week 13 with the Titans on a bye.

  • Posted: 11/19/2016 8:45pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has thrown an NFL-high 17 touchdown passes since Week 5.

Huddle Up: Mariota has Tennessee's offense firing on all cylinders, and he is a QB1 in Week 11 against the porous pass defense of the Colts.

  • Posted: 11/16/2016 10:48pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will meet the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. The Colts rank last in the AFC, and 31st in the NFL against the pass, allowing 287.9 yards per game with 17 touchdowns through nine games.

Huddle Up: Mariota has thrown for two or more touchdowns in six straight games, including Week 7 against Indianapolis. Through 10 games Mariota has 21 TDs and just eight interceptions. He has emerged as a solid low-end QB1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

  • Posted: 11/16/2016 9:16am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has been a top-five quarterback the last five weeks in standard fantasy leagues. He has thrown for 1,394 yards and 14 touchdowns to only three interceptions with 111 rushing yards and one rushing score in five games.

Huddle Up: The matchups haven't been stifling, but he hasn't seen paper-thin fronts during the stretch either. He has a rematch against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. He was 22-for-37 (59.5%) for 232 yards and two scores against them in Week 7. The Colts present a decent matchup for him this week.

  • Posted: 11/15/2016 3:35pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has thrown multiple touchdown passes in six consecutive games, tying him with former QB Warren Moon for the longest such streak in franchise history. Moon accomplished the feat in 1987.

Huddle Up: Mariota has been as hot as any quarterback in the league over the past several weeks, and with a tasty matchup on tap against the Colts in Week 11, he has a very good chance of surpassing Moon for the franchise record. He's quickly becoming a perennial QB1 in all leagues, being one of the few true dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL.

  • Posted: 11/15/2016 9:02am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has posted a 65.4 completion percentage and taken only two sacks while throwing for 30 touchdowns versus no interceptions in the red zone since entering the league in 2015.

Huddle Up: Mariota, who is riding a six-game streak with multiple touchdown throws, has been so efficient as a passer lately he's only needed to run for 47 yards over the last four games. Last year's No. 2 overall pick has certainly been helped by one of the best offensive lines and rushing attacks in the league this year, but there is little doubt he has emerged as an every-week starter in fantasy. Look for the good times to keep rolling in Week 11 against the Indianapolis Colts.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 4:56pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 19 of his 26 pass attempts for 295 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 10 game against the Green Bay Packers. He also ran four times for eight yards.

Huddle Up: Mariota picked on a poor and banged up Green Bay secondary, and he'll have another favorable matchup in Week 11 on the road against the defensively challenged Indianapolis Colts.

  • Posted: 11/9/2016 8:02pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (ankle) does not appear on the team's injury report this week, and he was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9, after suffering a minor ankle injury in the Week 9 loss in San Diego.

Huddle Up: Mariota is expected to be ready to face the Green Bay Packers. He is a solid streaming option in most fantasy leagues this week if you need a bye-week replacement, as the Packers secondary is awfully banged up.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 10:46pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 27 of his 43 pass attempts for 313 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 9 game against the San Diego Chargers. He also ran three times for 14 yards with a touchdown.

Huddle Up: Mariota was a solid streaming option this week, and he is worth using again in Week 10 against a beat up Green Bay Packers secondary when they visit Nashville.

  • Posted: 10/27/2016 9:12pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 18 of his 22 pass attempts for 270 yards and two touchdowns and had three carries for 11 yards in a 36-22 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, Oct. 26.

Huddle Up: Mariota has now registered four straight multi-touchdown games, and he is proving to be a potential QB1 against the right matchups. At the very least, he is a must-own fantasy backup.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 3:04pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota threw 22-for-37 for 232 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, Oct. 23, in a 34-26 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Huddle Up: Mariota did not allow an interception, which is very good news, and his overall numbers were decent. Mariota continues to have a good sophomore season at QB.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 2:31pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-26 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday, Oct. 16.

Huddle Up: Mariota is showing no signs of a second-year slump as the Titans are now 3-3 after going 3-13 last season. He shouldn't be a QB1 just yet because of struggles against some teams, but Mariota is a decent option.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 1:19pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota was 20-for-29 for 163 yards and three touchdowns Sunday, Oct. 9, in a win over the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Yardage leagues were hurt somewhat by Mariota's performance, but scoring leagues saw benefit. Mariota was fairly effective, and this may be a case where less is better for the second-year QB.

  • Posted: 10/4/2016 7:01am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has connected on 41 of 80 targets to wide receivers this season. Head coach Mike Mularkey said he plans to devote more practice time toward bettering the chemistry between Mariota and the wide receivers.

Huddle Up: Mariota is likely a backup in most fantasy settings, but his dual threat could have him in your lineup in certain matchups if he irons things out.

  • Posted: 10/3/2016 5:13pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has struggled so far this year with new wide receivers. 'I think [the chemistry] will improve, I'm almost ensuring that it will improve,' head coach Mike Mularkey said. Mularkey said the receivers need to run more precise routes, while Mariota must be more accurate and less hesitant. 'We've got to just be more precise outside, and I think you'll see better production in the passing game.'

Huddle Up: Tennessee's passing game has been gruesomely underwhelming through the first four games of the season. Delanie Walker and DeMarco Murray have produced more than any receiver yet. Tajae Sharpe and Rishard Matthews are still the top receivers for Tennessee, but it's difficult to start either of them until they can develop a better rapport with Mariota.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 5:38pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 13 of his 29 pass attempts for 202 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans. He also ran four times for 20 yards.

Huddle Up: Mariota had Delanie Walker back from injury, but he still struggled for a second straight week with zero touchdown strikes. He is only worth using as an emergency fantasy option or bye-week replacement.

  • Posted: 9/28/2016 8:01am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has 866 passing yards, five touchdowns, 141 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in his last three games against AFC South teams.

Huddle Up: He faces a Houston Texans defense without Brian Cushing (knee) and J.J. Watt (back) this week. Mariota had a poor Week 3, but if you're an Aaron Rodgers owner that has to cover a bye week, he's a pretty solid option.

  • Posted: 9/25/2016 8:14pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 17 of his 33 pass attempts for 214 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders. He also ran three times for 22 yards.

Huddle Up: Mariota had at least two passing touchdowns in each of his first two games, but he was awful in this one and really missed the injured Delanie Walker, his go-to receiver. Mariota is just too inconsistent to rely upon in most fantasy leagues unless using him as a bye-week replacement.

  • Posted: 9/18/2016 1:36pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 25 of 33 attempts for 238 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against the Detroit Lions Sunday, Sept. 18. He ran twice for 11 yards.

Huddle Up: Solid but unspectacular, Mariota's fourth-down touchdown pass to Andre Johnson that proved to be the game winner helped his stats. It wasn't a great day for him overall, but it should be better in Week 3 against the Oakland Raiders in Tennessee. He's a fringe QB1.

  • Posted: 8/24/2016 10:11am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said the no-huddle offense is comfortable for him because of his experience operating it last season and during college. Mariota complete all six of his passing attempts, including a 21-yard touchdown pass to WR Harry Douglas during an 81-yard drive utilizing the no-huddle offense against the Carolina Panthers Saturday, Aug. 20.

Huddle Up: Mariota boasts plenty of upside and could emerge as a weekly starting quarterback this season. His ability to pad his fantasy points on the ground is a nice bonus, too. However, he likely won't be the most reliable week-to-week option, so he might be best utilized as a streaming option in favorable matchups. He's best viewed as a late-round target for those who wait at the position.

  • Posted: 8/9/2016 1:42pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota struggled in the Monday, Aug. 8, scrimmage by throwing an interception and being flagged for a false start. 'It's unacceptable, my play today,' Mariota said. 'I can't be turning the ball over like that. I've got to be putting these guys in better situations. But all in all I'm glad we were able to come out and finish the drives that we did, and we had a pretty good red zone (drill) as well.'

Huddle Up: The NFL QB learning curve remains steep for second-year players, and we have Mariota ranked as a low-end QB2 entering Year 2 in Nashville.

  • Posted: 8/1/2016 8:07am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota won't have a set number of run plays per game, according to head coach Mike Mularkey, but Mularkey said he wants Mariota's running ability to be a threat to opposing defenses.

Huddle Up: Running the ball more would be a nice bonus, but the second-year passer must command the aerial game on a consistent basis to become anything better than a fringe No. 2 with the occasional lineup worthiness as a matchup or DFS play.

  • Posted: 6/28/2016 4:26pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said he will hand the ball off 40 times if that's what it takes to win. 'That's what's important to me, to (give) us an opportunity to win,' Mariota said. 'Having those two workhorses back there should help us out.'

Huddle Up: Despite finishing in a tie for the league's worst record (3-13), the Titans attempted the 21st fewest passes in the NFL last season, and it could sensibly dip from there Tennessee has a better team this season and has beefed up the RB position considerably with the offseason additions of DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry. In other words, you're not drafting Mariota as No. 2 QB because of his aerial-volume potential.

  • Posted: 5/25/2016 10:14am ET

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is up to 225 pounds this year compared to the 220 pounds he played at last season, not 210 pounds as previously reported.

Huddle Up: A few extra pounds should help Mariota absorb the hits he's bound to take. So long as it doesn't slow down his elusiveness, his bulking up is a positive development for the Titans.

  • Posted: 5/22/2016 2:02pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has been more vocal this offseason, according to TE Delanie Walker, and he looks more comfortable with the offensive system and is making quicker decisions.

Huddle Up: Mariota should improve and should up his fantasy-point total after missing four starts as a rookie, but he will be counting on basically the same pass-catching cast and will do good just to move up into QB2 territory.
