Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf said the team received the boost it was looking for when it signed QB Brett Favre. Wilf made it clear Favre would be welcome to return in 2010 to play the second season of his two-year contract.
The Huddle Take: So, will he retire? Or will he come back? C'mon, it's not too early to start everybody's favorite offseason game!
Posted: 11/12/2009 5:57pm et
Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (hip, groin) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 12, but will start in Week 10.
The Huddle Take: Favre will play, but there are two factors weighing against him from a Fantasy perspective. No. 1, even though he did throw for two TDs in his last meeting with Detroit, logic dictates the Vikings will run the ball against the Lions' horrible run defense more than they will throw against the Lions' horrible pass defense -- all in an effort to save more wear-and-tear on Favre. No. 2, since it's a very good bet Minnesota will have this game put away fairly early, Favre will likely be pulled once the game is well in hand. That could happen by halftime. It's probably advisable to sit Favre unless he's far and away your best Fantasy QB option this week.
Posted: 11/12/2009 11:27am et
The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre is dealing with a pulled groin muscle, but he said he believes he will be fine.
The Huddle Take: At age 40 you have to expect Favre to deal with an increasing assortment of bumps and bruises; plus, after seeing the Jets get slapped with a fine for not disclosing Favre's injury last year maybe the Vikings are providing a little too much information regarding their quarterback's status. There's little chance he'll miss the Vikings' Week 10 home date with the Lions, though—as has been the case all year—Brad Childress won't be afraid to go to Tarvaris Jackson for mop-up work if the Vikings have this one in hand in the fourth quarter.

Peter King, of SI.com, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre said he pulled or strained his groin in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, and took it easy in practice for the rest of the week. Favre said there was never any question he would play. However, about an hour before the game, during pregame warmups with the groin wrapped tightly, Favre aggravated the muscle on the field. "I told T-Jack (backup Tarvaris Jackson) and (offensive coordinator) Darrell Bevell I may not be able to do it," Favre said. "I didn't know if I'd be able to drop back very well. After I aggravated it, there was no way I was going to be able to move around in the pocket very much. We never called one bootleg the whole game. But we made it through OK." Favre said he was in throbbing pain four hours following the game.
The Huddle Take: Oh, the drama! Can you imagine if Favre's iron man streak had ended at Lambeau with him in purple? Thankfully the Vikings have a bye this week so the old man can rest his many maladies.
Posted: 11/1/2009 10:07pm et
The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre was 17-for-28 for 244 yards with four touchdown passes Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers.
The Huddle Take: What is there to say but Incredible! Favre continues to amaze the football world with his durability and longevity that has kept him on the field every week for more than a decade. The NFL ironman Favre continues to rewrite the record books almost every week and showed the Packers exactly what they have given away by defeating the Packers twice in 2009. He remains a No. 1 quarterback for fantasy teams and has the Vikings well on their way to a playoff berth and a potential Super Bowl run this year.
Posted: 10/9/2009 5:22pm et
Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (ankle, knee, foot) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 9. He is listed as probable for Week 5 and will play.
The Huddle Take: Don't worry about Favre. He'll be fine and should put up some solid numbers against the Rams. He probably won't be the machine he was against Green Bay, but solid nonetheless.
Posted: 10/7/2009 11:10pm et
Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (foot, ankle, knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The Huddle Take: It would be hard to imagine Favre not playing after the tremendous Monday night performance against the Green Bay Packers. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status throughout the week but expect the star quarterback to be in the lineup and leading the offense once again. He should be considered a No. 1 quarterback as long as he is not limited by his injuries.
Posted: 10/6/2009 9:01am et
The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre was 24-for-31 for 271 yards with a three touchdown passes Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers.
The Huddle Take: This was one of the few no-brainer weeks to start Favre. Week 5 should also be one, as the Vikings play the Rams.
Posted: 10/1/2009 11:23pm et
Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.
The Huddle Take: Despite the injury there is little chance that Favre will miss the game on Monday night against his old team the Green Bay Packers. The future hall of famer should be considered as a No. 2 quarterback with upside for the remainder of the season in Minnesota's balanced offensive attack.
Posted: 9/28/2009 12:10pm et
The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre was 24-for-46 for 301 yards with two touchdowns and an interception Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers. It was Favre's first 300-yard game since Nov. 22, 2007.
The Huddle Take: This is why the Vikings got Favre, who also provided Minnesota with its first 300-yard passing game since the days of Daunte Culpepper. The Vikings shouldn't need 300 yards and a miracle finish from Favre on a regular basis, but when Adrian Peterson and the ground game are getting shut down it's a great fallback plan.
