SI.com reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre sounds like he is leaning towards retirement at this point. Favre said he told Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum that "it may be time to look in a different direction" at quarterback. Favre said he will take a few weeks before deciding on his future.
The Huddle Take: Raise your hand if you're already sick of the Favre retirement saga, which has more chapters than War and Peace and more staying power than the Halloween franchise. Favre looked like a quarterback who should have retired over the final month or so of the season so his leaning that way shouldn't surprise; however, I think I speak for every American this side of Peter King when I say fish or cut bait.

The Bergen Record reports the New York Jets would like QB Brett Favre to decide whether he will retire or not before the start of the NFL Combine, which starts in late February, according to sources.
The Huddle Take: And I wanted a pony for Christmas; chances are pretty good we'll both be disappointed. Favre's track record of milking the "will he/won't he" retirement bit is almost as legendary as his two-minute drill or his interceptions. Unless the Jets firmly believe Kellen Clemens is their quarterback of the future, the smart move would be to take a long look at the 2009 quarterback class.

ESPN.com reports New York Jets RB Thomas Jones implied during a radio interview that the way QB Brett Favre played during the final weeks of the season should have merited his benching because he was hurting the team's chances to win. 'If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game. You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair],' Jones said. Favre threw two touchdowns and nine interceptions in the last five games of the season.
The Huddle Take: Despite the poor play at times from Brett Favre, the veteran quarterback is still the gunslinger he has always been that has made him one of the NFL's top passers all-time. With a decision pending on his future playing status, news like this could tend to swing Favre toward retirement than back to the team. If the Jets lose Favre after just one season the team could really be hurting at the quarterback position with Chad Pennington now implanted firmly in Miami.

The NFL Network reports the Green Bay Packers will receive a 2009 third-round draft choice from the New York Jets to complete the trade involving QB Brett Favre. The pick could have been as high as a first-round pick.
The Huddle Take: With Favre having problems with his right shoulder and talking about retirement once again, the Jets appear to have given up too much in losing a third-round pick for just one year of service. If New York was to have Favre back at least one more season then things could look better in terms of giving up the draft pick. Stay tuned in the offseason for updates on his status.

The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre went 20-for-40 for 233 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the team's Week 17 game.
The Huddle Take: Favre, who has been having problems with his shoulder during the latter stages of the season, will be faced with another decision about his future playing status in the NFL. With the N.Y. Jets falling to the Miami Dolphins 24-17 and ending their season, expect the future Hall of Famer to make his decision on his future with the team in the next few months.

Jets Confidential reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 26. He is not on the injury report for Week 17 and will start. He said he will need to undergo an MRI on his shoulder after the season.
The Huddle Take: It sounds like Favre will be ready to go against Miami in Week 17, however the table is set for Chad Pennington to return to New York just in time to spoil the party and guide the Dolphins to the playoffs. With Favre suffering from a shoulder injury, expect the Jets to run early and often with Thomas Jones in Week 17.

The NFL Network, reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre has a $13 million cap figure for next year. He will let the team know his plans are as soon as next week if the Jets lose in Week 17 to the Miami Dolphins.
The Huddle Take: Hopefully this will not be a continuation of the Brett Favre retirement tour which started around this time last season. It is hard to imagine Favre playing many more seasons but fantasy owners should probably expect at least one more year out of the veteran future Hall of Famer.
Posted: 12/21/2008 11:43pm et
The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre was 18-for-31 for 187 yards with two interceptions during the team's Week 16 game. Favre is now 1-6 in road games played in temperatures of 34 degrees or below. He was 43-6 in home games under the same conditions while with the Green Bay Packers.
The Huddle Take: Not a good day at all for the future Hall of Famer as Favre and the Jets offense struggled all afternoon against the Seattle Seahawks. Favre will have better days and with the division championship on the line in Week 17 against Miami, expect the N.Y. Jets to be ready in what should be a battle royale.

The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre is 67-23, including 2-1 this year, when the temperature is 45 degrees or less. However, he is 1-6, including the playoffs, while on the road when the temperature is below 34 degrees. It is expected to be around 34 with snow at kickoff during Week 16. WR Jerricho Cotchery said Favre was throwing the ball like it was 90 degrees out Friday, Dec. 19, when the team practiced in the snow. 'He was zipping it and every ball was a spiral. I think he's very comfortable in this weather,' Cotchery said.
The Huddle Take: It is hard to imagine the future Hall of Famer Favre having any problems with the weather since he played almost his entire career with the Green Bay Packers at frozen Lambeau field. Fantasy owners counting on Favre in Week 16 should look for a nice game from the Jets starting QB as he faces a depleted Seattle Seahawks defense at home in New York.

The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Brett Favre went 17-for-30 for 207 yards one touchdown and two interceptions in the team's Week 15 game.
The Huddle Take: Brett Favre and the N.Y. Jets didn't play their best game in Week 15 but they did manage to play good enough to defeat Buffalo 31-27. Favre has been a huge addition to the Jets this season and brings his gunslinger mentality to a team that has been predominantly conservative. Expect more of the same from Favre and the Jets as they head down the stretch with a Week 17 game against the division-rival Miami Dolphins.
