Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper became the first rookie tight end to catch a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5, and he is the first rookie to have a receiving touchdown since retired WR Torry Holt in Super Bowl XXXIV.

Huddle Up: Hooper isn't a consistent part of Atlanta's passing attack yet, but he is one of the more promising young players at the position. For now, his fantasy value is limited to keeper formats.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) did not practice Friday, Dec. 30, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

Huddle Up: With Hooper and Jacob Tamme sidelined, Atlanta doesn't have a tight end worth using in fantasy circles.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) will not be able to play in Week 16 because of his knee injury.

Huddle Up: Levine Toilolo and Joshua Perkins will both see time at tight end with Hooper out of the lineup, but neither player will have a big role in the passing game. Owners in all leagues should avoid the Falcons tight ends.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Hooper's status for Week 16 is uncertain, so owners should check on his status later in the week. He has not posted more than 10 yards in any of his last five games and should be avoided in all leagues.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) was carted off in the fourth quarter of the Week 15 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a left knee injury.

Huddle Up: The source and severity of the injury is not yet known. If Hooper misses time it would be Levine Toilolo taking over as the starting tight end, but he would have minimal fantasy appeal.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper made the start in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he made just one grab for eight yards on three targets.

Huddle Up: Hooper could not take advantage of the absence of Jacob Tamme. Going forward he isn't worth using in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues. The Falcons are off in Week 11.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper posted five receptions for 41 yards on five targets in the Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers, stepping up once TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) went down.

Huddle Up: Hooper might be worth a look as a bye-week replacement heading into Week 9 against the poor Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass defense if Tamme is forced to miss the game on a short week.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught five passes for 50 yards in a 17-6 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 25.

Huddle Up: Hooper is currently stuck behind Jacob Tamme, but he should be the starter in the near future and is worth grabbing in rookie drafts and dynasty startups.

  • Posted: 6/25/2016 10:54pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper has impressed offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan with his route-running ability and ball skills. 'He really comes off the ball hard,' Shanahan said. 'He's not the fastest guy in the world, but he's fast enough. He's got good cutting ability, so he can break guys off at the top of his routes.'

Huddle Up: Hooper was drafted to fill the role vacated by Tony Gonzalez. Those are big shoes to fill, but it's a positive sign that the rookie is impressing coaches early on in the process.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper will take part in the club's mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday, June 14. He was unable to participate in three weeks of organized team activities because Stanford's academic calendar had not been completed.

Huddle Up: That's put the third-round pick behind the rookie learning curve, and he'll have to put in double time in minicamp and early in training camp. Still, the opportunity for PT remains in ATL with veteran Jacob Tamme and Levine Toilolo the two TEs ahead of him on the depth chart.

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper will help the Falcons in the red zone, where they ranked 17th in the league with a 54.7 percent conversion rate last season. Stanford tight ends coach Morgan Turner was most impressed with the red-zone production Hooper had in a 41-31 win over USC. 'If you go back and watch the game, he goes up and on a corner route, high-points the ball over two DBs,' Turner said. 'He makes another catch when it's Cover 0; a contested catch. Both were in the red zone that got us down to the 1- and 2-yard lines. He's definitely a threat because he will make contested catches.'

Huddle Up: Don't be surprised if the 6-4 third-round pick beats out veteran Jacob Tamme for the starting tight end gig, and shows glimpses of becoming the tight end the Falcons have lacked since Tony Gonzalez's retirement.
