Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams was waived Sunday, Sept. 3.

Huddle Up: This move leaves the bills perilously thin at running back behind LeSean McCoy, as fullback Mike Tolbert and journeyman Joe Banyard appear to be the main backups for now. Considering McCoy's history of soft-tissue injuries, it is very likely the Bills are on the verge of signing a running back in the very near future. Williams will almost certainly find a new home, but being unable to stick with a running back-needy team like Buffalo does not speak well for his long-term future.

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams (hamstring) participated in practice Friday, Aug. 11, even though he suffered a hamstring injury during the first preseason game.

Huddle Up: Williams appears to be on track to be the No. 2 running back for the Bills this season. He will only see limited touches as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy and probably should only be selected as a possible handcuff to McCoy.

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in a 17-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 10.

Huddle Up: As the primary backup to an aging running back in a run-heavy offense, Williams should be considered one of the top handcuffs this season -- if this injury turns out to be minor.

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams won't be disciplined by the NFL under the substance abuse policy. Williams was recently found not guilty in a case involving a DWI.

Huddle Up: Williams is expected to be the team's second running back behind Shady McCoy with Mike Gillislee bolting to New England. He's worth a late-round flyer and could be an RB4 if McCoy's workload is scaled back at all.

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams has worked on improving his ball security this offseason after head coach Sean McDermott said it was an area Williams needed to work on. Williams lost two fumbles on 28 carries in 2016.

Huddle Up: Williams should be the No. 2 running back for the Bills this season and will see limited work behind LeSean McCoy. Owners in fantasy leagues could consider Williams as a late-round option and a possible handcuff to McCoy.

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams' development will be vital to the Bills' future success, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Huddle Up: Williams is an underrated weapon for the Bills with Mike Gillislee gone. Williams takes over the backup role behind LeSean McCoy and is a good handcuff candidate despite missing five games in his rookie year.
