The Indianapolis Colts announced Wednesday, Oct. 14, that they have agreed to terms with free-agent PK Matt Stover. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Huddle Take: Stover replaces Adam Vinatieri, who will be sidelined up to two months following arthroscopic knee surgery. He has decent fantasy value as the kicker tacking on points to one of the league's more potent offenses.

The Star-Ledger reports the New York Giants worked out unrestricted free-agent PK Matt Stover (Ravens) Tuesday, Oct. 6, according to his agent.
The Huddle Take: Lawrence Tynes has missed three field goals, so his job could be in jeopardy.

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Ravens PKs Graham Gano and Steven Hauschka will be competing in training camp for the team's kicker job. Both kickers have hit over 80 percent of their attempts this offseason and the battle is currently too close to call. If the two fail to win the job, the Ravens have not ruled out a return of PK Matt Stover.
The Huddle Take: The Ravens haven't been shy about admitting that Stover is on speed dial if no winner emerges from the Gano/Hauschka battle. Keep that in mind before tossing a late-round pick on one of the Ravens' kickers; you might be best served with a more certain option.

Mike Preston, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has talked with free-agent PK Matt Stover a couple of times this offseason, once within the past two weeks. "It was a personal phone call, and he wanted to know how I was doing, and if I was still kicking, and if I was staying in shape," Stover said.
The Huddle Take: The Ravens hoped to move forward at the placekicker position, with Steve Hauschka and Graham Gano battling for the gig in training camp. If neither steps forward, however, you can expect Stover to be back with the Ravens in time for Week One.

The Carroll County Times reports Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Friday, March 6, that he is open to re-signing PK Matt Stover. "That door is not closed on Matt," Newsome said. "Both John and I met with Matt individually and he expressed his desires and what ours were. At that point, we had a very good understanding."
The Huddle Take: Stover said the Jets offered him a contract before signing Jay Feeley, so apparently at least a couple teams think the veteran can still kick in the NFL.

The Baltimore Sun reports Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome commented on the status of pending free-agent PK Matt Stover at the NFL Scouting Combine. "He's probably looking and we're looking, too. That is probably the best way to say it," Newsome said.
The Huddle Take: The last Brown/original Raven is looking elsewhere? Say it ain't so! Stover has spent 19 years in the league, and he's given no indication he doesn't want to go for 20. Nonetheless, it would certainly be odd to see him in a different uniform in 2009.
