New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire likely will be the No. 2 running back for the Jets next season.

Huddle Up: McGuire played well during the second half of the season and probably will see a handful of touches in each game in 2019. He can be a late-round option in some leagues and could be a flex option against certain opponents in point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 1/25/2019 6:51pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire said he used the time he missed with a foot injury at the start of the 2018 season to log 'mental reps' in the film room, which helped him become a better blocker and better understand what opposing defenses are trying to do.

Huddle Up: The Jets have plenty of question marks at running back heading into 2019, and there is a chance that both Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell could be gone. Depending on how the offseason plays out, McGuire could have a chance to carve out a steady role.

  • Posted: 12/30/2018 1:17pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire rushed for 41 yards on 18 carries against the New England Patriots in Week 17. He also caught two passes for 24 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: McGuire probably will not be the starting running back for the Jets next season but could be the No. 2 back. He could be a late-round option in deeper leagues next season if he receives around 10 touches per game.

  • Posted: 12/25/2018 2:43pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire has scored four touchdowns and averaged 79.6 total yards over the last three weeks while catching three passes in each contest.

Huddle Up: McGuire is an RB1 over his last three games and has held his own while taking over for Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell. His yards per carry (3.2) leave something to be desired, but his star is on the rise, especially if Powell leaves in free agency next offseason.

  • Posted: 12/23/2018 6:35pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire rushed 14 times for 35 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 50 yards and a touchdown in a 44-38 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 16.

Huddle Up: McGuire has now topped 70 total yards and scored at least once in each of the last three games. Keep running him out there as a flex option to wrap up the season.

  • Posted: 12/21/2018 3:06pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (ankle, quadriceps) practiced in full for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 21 and he is off the injury report ahead of the Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: McGuire is expected to handle a lion's share of the totes against the Pack, so he is a sneaky low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/20/2018 2:32pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (ankle, quadriceps) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: McGuire should continue to receive most of the carries in the running game and probably will see some targets in the passing game as well. He can be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option in most leagues this week.

  • Posted: 12/19/2018 3:28pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (ankle, quadriceps) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Huddle Up: McGuire has received at least 20 touches in each of the last two games and has two touchdowns during that span. He will continue to be the main option at running back for the Jets and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/15/2018 5:22pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire managed 21 touches for 71 yards and a touchdown in a loss versus the Houston Texans Saturday, Dec. 15.

Huddle Up: McGuire was the feature back tonight with Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell out. The rushing average could have been better, but his 16.2 PPR points will do just fine. Keep tabs on Crowell's status for next week as it will obviously negatively impact McGuire's value.

  • Posted: 12/13/2018 2:59pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Huddle Up: McGuire is in line to start this week with Isaiah Crowell ruled out and likely will receive plenty of touches against the Houston Texans. Owners in most leagues can consider McGuire as a flex option this week.

  • Posted: 12/11/2018 12:43pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (ankle) missed practice Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Huddle Up: McGuire broke out last week to the tune of 93 total yards and a touchdown. New York's backfield is hurting, though, and the upcoming workload is unclear at this point. If Isaiah Crowell is inactive and McGuire is able to play then McGuire must be viewed as a PPR RB2 candidate.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 2:30pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. He also caught three passes for 23 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: McGuire may receive the start next week depending on the severity of Isaiah Crowell's injury. He should be a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option next week if he receives a majority of the work at the position.

  • Posted: 11/23/2018 2:43pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Huddle Up: McGuire has posted decent numbers since returning to the lineup and will continue to be part of the running and passing game. He may not be a starting option this week, but owners should keep an eye on him over the next few weeks.

  • Posted: 11/22/2018 12:28pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 22.

Huddle Up: McGuire has been involved in the running and passing game since returning from injury and should have a similar role this week. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues but is not a must-start player for owners.

  • Posted: 11/11/2018 2:40pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire rushed for 30 yards on six carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 10. He also caught three passes for 27 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: McGuire has had two similar performances since coming off the Reserve/Injured list and will continue to be involved in the running and passing game. He could be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues in Week 12 against the New England Patriots.

  • Posted: 11/8/2018 11:18am ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) put in a full practice Thursday, Nov. 8.

Huddle Up: McGuire stepped right into Bilal Powell's role a week ago, catching three passes and totaling 67 yards. He's a flex candidate in deeper PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 11/7/2018 3:25pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Huddle Up: McGuire received 10 touches in his season debut last week and finished with 67 yards. He should continue to have a solid role in the offense and could be a possible flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 11/4/2018 9:36pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire ran for 30 yards on seven carries and turned five targets into three catches for 37 yards in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: On an otherwise miserable day for the offense, McGuire was one of the brighter spots. He immediately filled the Bilal Powell role in this offense and finished with a backfield-high 36 snaps per Pro Football Focus, 13 more than Isaiah Crowell. McGuire, who had not played all season due to a midsummer foot injury, showed impressive quickness and figures to see plenty of time moving forward as the Jets are sorely lacking weapons on offense. He should be a solid flex play against the Buffalo Bills in Week 10.

  • Posted: 11/2/2018 10:16pm ET

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) was officially activated from the Reserve/Injured list on Friday, Nov. 2.

Huddle Up: It might be a little aggressive to plug McGuire into your lineup right away, but he'd be a nice grab and stash candidate as he's set to assume a sizable role and is fresh after not playing since July.

  • Posted: 11/2/2018 10:56am ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) is 'trending toward playing' in Week 9, head coach Todd Bowles said Friday, Nov. 2, and a decision will be made this weekend.

Huddle Up: The Jets are in need of RB help with Bilal Powell done for the season, and check to see if McGuire is activated off the Reserve/Injured list Saturday. If so, plug him in a what-the-heck flex option if needed.

  • Posted: 7/29/2018 7:46am ET

Updating previous reports, New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) will undergo surgery on his broken foot this week and is expected to miss three to six weeks, according to a source.

Huddle Up: It appears that McGuire could miss the first game or two of the regular season, but this injury likely ends his bid to be the third-down back. Expect Bilal Powell to see more work, especially at the beginning of the year, making him worthy of consideration as a flex option.

  • Posted: 7/28/2018 1:05pm ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (foot) suffered a fracture in his foot earlier this week and will need to undergo surgery, according to a source. He is expected to miss an extended period of time and could start the season on the Reserve/Injured list.

Huddle Up: McGuire was expected to have a decent role this season but likely will be out multiple weeks because of the injury. Bilal Powell likely will receive more touches with McGuire out and could be a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 6/15/2018 7:16am ET

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire is expected to be the third-down back, in the opinion of beat writer Manish Mehta.

Huddle Up: Add McGuire's name to your list of RB5 sleepers come draft day.
