Washington Redskins general manager Doug Williams said the decision to determine if QB Dwayne Haskins would be the club's starting quarterback would not be made solely by head coach Jay Gruden. Williams, team president Bruce Allen and owner Dan Snyder are also likely to have some input on the situation.

Huddle Up: Even if Haskins beats out Case Keenum and Colt McCoy for the starting job in the preseason, he should be viewed as no better than a low-end QB2 in deeper fantasy football leagues this year, with added value in dynasty formats.

Washington Redskins rookie QB Dwayne Haskins shouldn't be under center for the team early in the season, according to former QB Joe Theismann. Washington will open the 2019 campaign against the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago Bears. 'To put him out there early against those teams, it's just a formula for disaster for the team, for (head coach) Jay (Gruden), for the fans and everybody else,' Theismann said. 'I think the young man is our future, and let's protect the future, instead of throwing it out there right now and saying, 'Okay, go get 'em.' The schedule we're playing is not a 'go get 'em' schedule.'

Huddle Up: Haskins doesn't have much value in redraft leagues whether he starts in Week 1 or not. The No. 15 overall pick from the 2019 NFL Draft should be viewed as nothing more than a late-round flier as a QB2, even if he's able to beat out veteran Case Keenum for the starting job.

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins says adaption to the NFL has been a challenge this offseason, but he, his coaches and teammates have been pleased with his progress. 'It's been a process,' Haskins said Tuesday, June 11. 'but every day I feel like I'm getting better at it.'

Huddle Up: Even if Haskins is eventually able to beat out veteran Case Keenum for the starting gig, he projects as no more than a low- end QB3 as a rookie.

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins deserves a shot to start, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Huddle Up: Haskins could beat out Case Keenum, but he'll have to have a great camp. He's a low-end QB2 in traditional leagues but a solid dynasty chip.

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins said he is taking 'baby steps' during OTAs, and head coach Jon Gruden said he is using the spring practices to decide if Haskins is a 'serious competitor' for the starting job heading into training camp.

Huddle Up: Haskins obviously has plenty of long-term potential in keeper leagues, but even if he wins the starting job, he will be a speculative QB2 in redraft leagues in 2019.

Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins was selected by the Washington Redskins with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Huddle Up: Haskins should have a chance to compete with Case Keenum and Colt McCoy for the starting job during training camp, but the Redskins may want him to sit out his rookie season. He should be a popular choice in keeper leagues but can be avoided in standard leagues unless he wins the starting job.
