Kansas City Chiefs RB Darwin Thompson was a 'playmaker in the passing game' during rookie minicamp, according to B.J. Kissel of Chiefs.com.

Huddle Up: Thompson has been tabbed as a potential change-of-pace back for the Chiefs, and it sounds like he could be on his way to carving out a role in passing situations. Given how explosive the Kansas City offense can be, he's not a bad rookie to take a flier on in the later rounds in PPR leagues.

Kansas City Chiefs sixth-round RB Darwin Thompson is expected to serve as a change-of-pace back for the team, according to Chiefs national scout Trey Koziol.

Huddle Up: In other words, he is expected to be what Charcandrick West was to Kareem Hunt a couple of years ago. With that said, Thompson offers more big-play ability than West ever did. While Damien Williams and Carlos Hyde are probably safe for 2019, owners need to pay attention whenever head coach Andy Reid & Co. add a running back. Whether he gets used as a change-of-pace or replaces Tyreek Hill as the primary "space player" in Kansas City, Thompson should have a notable role with the team as a rookie.
