Recent Player News

  • Posted: 11/14/2018 11:33pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) said he'd like to get healthy enough to return this season if the team makes the playoffs. Walker also noted he had two titanium rods inserted in his leg during surgery for his dislocated ankle.

Huddle Up: This sounds suspiciously like the Hunter Henry news from last week where a tight end thought to be done for the year cracks open the door on a possible return, but as with Henry, Walker's unlikely return would almost certainly come too late to benefit fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 5:23pm ET

Tennessee Titans RB Dion Lewis could be in line for more targets out of the backfield, especially on third down, with TE Delanie Walker (ankle) out for the season.

Huddle Up: Lewis opened the season with 75 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and he added five receptions for 35 yards, co-existing rather nicely with Derrick Henry. In fact, he outplayed the incumbent by quite a bit. An increase in targets is music to the ears of fantasy owners in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 5:16pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Jonnu Smith is expected to move into the starting lineup now that TE Delanie Walker (ankle) went down with a season-ending injury in Week 1.

Huddle Up: Smith showed glimpses of brilliance last season and he could be a nice sleeper in fantasy once he starts getting regular reps again. He has a similar skillset to Walker, according to beat writer Turron Davenport. If you need a replacement for Walker, Smith is a good addition in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 11:22am ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) suffered a broken right ankle as well as ligament damage in the ankle. He is not expected to play again in 2018.

Huddle Up: Prior to this gruesome injury, Walker had played no fewer than 14 games in any season since his rookie year in 2006. The 35-year-old's absence takes away Marcus Mariota's favorite target, but it should allow Corey Davis to take over as the clear focal point of the passing game. Promising Jonnu Smith will get his opportunity to prove his worth and is worth grabbing as a TE2 with potential TE1 upside for owners looking to replace Walker.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 4:56pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) suffered a right ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins and he need to be carted off for what appeared to be a serious injury.

Huddle Up: Walker posted four grabs for 52 yards on seven targets, but that might be his last production for a while. If he is forced to the sidelines it would be Jonnu Smith who is the next man up. The former standout at Florida International showed glimpses of brilliance last season and might be a good pick-up for Walker owners if their guy is forced to the shelf.

  • Posted: 9/5/2018 1:08pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (toe) is not listed on the Titans' injury report for Week 1.

Huddle Up: Walker will be good to go as Marcus Mariota's go-to target. He is one of the most underrated tight ends in the NFL and a top-five performer at his position every year. Start him per usual in a delicious matchup versus the Miami Dolphins.

  • Posted: 9/3/2018 10:26am ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (toe) told reporters Monday, Sept. 3, it is 'still the plan' for him to play in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: It's not the most optimistic statement ever, but one that owners can probably count on Walker delivering on given his track record of durability. Owners should keep Jonnu Smith on their watch lists just in case Walker has an early-season setback, but the 34-year-old veteran should be counted on for now. After a bit of an unlucky season in the touchdown department in 2017, Walker should bounce back and be in the mix to finish as a top-five tight end in 2018.

  • Posted: 8/27/2018 12:18pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (toe) said he fully expects to be ready for Week 1.

Huddle Up: Walker has been slowed by a toe injury over the last week or so but probably will be back on the practice field next week. He has been one of the more consistent tight ends over the last several seasons and should be a fine No. 1 fantasy tight end.

  • Posted: 8/23/2018 3:35pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 23.

Huddle Up: Walker probably will miss the third preseason game and may not play until Week 1. Walker is a solid No. 1 fantasy tight end when healthy, but owners should monitor his situation over the next few weeks.

  • Posted: 8/22/2018 1:56pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (toe) missed practice again on Wednesday, Aug. 22, as he continues to nurse a toe injury.

Huddle Up: Walker is sidelined with what is believed to be a minor injury, and he should be ready to go once the games starting counting for real. He has posted 100 or more targets in each of his past four seasons and there is no reason to downgrade him on your fantasy draft boards due to this nagging injury.

  • Posted: 8/18/2018 4:48pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (undisclosed) will not be active for Week 2 of the preseason.

Huddle Up: Walker was banged up in practice earlier this week, but we still don't know the specific injury or its extent. Assuming it's minor, Walker remains a mid-range TE1.

  • Posted: 8/16/2018 8:53am ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (undisclosed) left practice Thursday, Aug. 16.

Huddle Up: Walker is always a sneaky PPR tight end to take later in drafts. Keep tabs on what the concern is with him.

  • Posted: 7/28/2018 11:17am ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker did not participate in practice Saturday, July 28, because it was a scheduled day off for him.

Huddle Up: Walker is one of the most consistent tight ends in the NFL and should continue to be a valuable option in all fantasy leagues. He should be a weekly starting option for owners.

  • Posted: 2/19/2018 11:22pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker reached the 800-yard mark for the fourth consecutive season in 2017. He's the only tight end to reach that plateau even once in franchise history. In addition, he became the fourth player in the history of the Titans to record five consecutive seasons with at least 60 receptions.

Huddle Up: Arguably the most underrated tight end in all of pro football, Walker is never mentioned among the uppermost top tier at his position, but perhaps he should be given his notable consistency. This past season, Walker tied for third among tight ends in catches with 74 and also finished third in targets (111) and fourth in yards (807). He'll remain a TE1 going into next year.

  • Posted: 1/28/2018 6:35pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker was named Offensive MVP of the Pro Bowl Sunday, Jan. 28, finishing with four catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Walker was one of the most productive players at his position in 2017, finishing tied for third in receptions and fourth in receiving yards among tight ends. He'll offer a safe floor as a TE1 in 2018.

  • Posted: 1/6/2018 5:08pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker caught six passes for 74 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6.

Huddle Up: Walker was the main target in the passing game against the Chiefs and continues to be a reliable target for Marcus Mariota. He should be a solid No. 1 fantasy tight end next week.

  • Posted: 12/30/2017 9:11pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker will trigger a $500,000 incentive in his contract if the Titans make the playoffs. The Titans clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17.

Huddle Up: Jacksonville's secondary is stout, but Walker is one of the most consistent tight end options, and he finished with four catches for 61 yards and a touchdown the first time these teams met. Pencil him in as a TE1.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 2:52pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker finished three grabs for 33 yards on five targets in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: Walker has posted 42 or fewer receiving yards in each of the past three games to let his fantasy owners down a bit, although he remains a decent low-end TE1 in most PPR formats. He has recorded three or more grabs in each of his 15 outings this season.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 8:15pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker finished with five receptions for 42 yards on nine targets in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Huddle Up: Walker was nursing an ankle injury in practice earlier this week but it didn't appear to hinder him in this game. He has four or more receptions in seven consecutive outings, although his touchdown streak ended at two games. He remains a low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Posted: 12/8/2017 3:40pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.

Huddle Up: Walker should be ready for a normal workload this week despite the injury and can be a No. 1 fantasy tight end in all leagues.

  • Posted: 12/7/2017 12:06pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: Walker could be a game-time decision against the Arizona Cardinals, so owners should monitor the situation. He can be a No. 1 fantasy tight end if he plays, but owners will need other options available in case Walker misses the game.

  • Posted: 12/6/2017 3:30pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Huddle Up: Owners should know more about Walker's status later in the week because he is considered day-to-day at this point. He is a solid No. 1 fantasy tight end when he is healthy, but owners will need other options ready if he is not able to play.

  • Posted: 12/4/2017 12:24pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury.

Huddle Up: Walker is another big-name player whose status will need to be monitored leading up to the weekend. The ailment doesn't appear to be too serious, but its extent is not clear. Don't make a decision on him until we know more.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 6:19pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker finished with five receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown on his five targets in Week 13 against the Houston Texans.

Huddle Up: Walker failed to score a touchdown across his first 10 games, but he is making up for lost time with scoring receptions in back-to-back games. He is heating up at just the right time for fantasy owners heading into Week 14 and the playoffs.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 3:18pm ET

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker finished with four receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts on his five targets.

Huddle Up: It was Walker's first visit to the end zone this season. He has four or more receptions in six straight outings and remains a tremendous fantasy option in PPR formats despite the lack of scores. The Titans host the Texans in Week 13.
