Impending free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams is unlikely to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Huddle Up: The Steelers may have tipped this off when they signed Karlos Williams to a Reserve/Future contract last week, but DeAngelo Williams is set to turn 34 in April. Given Le'Veon Bell's recent issues and current contract status, Pittsburgh likely wants someone more dependable than the former Williams and younger than the latter Williams. Expect the Steelers to add a back in the draft in about three months.

  • Posted: 1/22/2017 6:57pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams rushed 14 times for 34 yards and a touchdown filling in for an injured RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) on Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. Williams added 51 yards on seven catches.

Huddle Up: Williams is a free agent this March, and given how well he has played backing up Bell through the past few seasons, it stands to reason that Pittsburgh will look to offer him another contract. He is nothing more than a handcuff in deep leagues, however, when Bell is on the field.

  • Posted: 12/31/2016 9:50am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Fitzgerald Toussaint is expected to receive a solid amount of playing time against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. RB DeAngelo Williams is also expected to receive carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Williams is coming off a knee injury and may be the first running back used so he can work his way back, but Toussaint could receive a majority of the carries during the game. Owners in deeper leagues may want to consider either running back as a flex option because of the favorable matchup.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams may receive a solid amount of playing time in Week 17 because he missed several weeks with a knee injury, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.

Huddle Up: Williams may be the starting running back with Le'Veon Bell sitting out and should receive most of the carries during the game. He played well earlier in the season and can be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 12/20/2016 10:20am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) is expected to play Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: Williams was supposed to play last week as well, but some fluid buildup in his surgically repaired knee led to him being inactive. He is merely a handcuff for Le'Veon Bell and probably won't see more than a touch or two this weekend with Bell playing as well as he ever has.

  • Posted: 12/13/2016 9:42am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) as a 'legitimate' chance to play in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Huddle Up: With Le'Veon Bell coming off a 42-touch, 298-yard effort in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills, it may not be the worst idea to give Williams a few snaps this week. Owners of Bell are advised to pick up Williams if they don't already have him on their roster, as he remains one of the best handcuffs in fantasy football and would be in line for a huge workload should something happen to Bell.

  • Posted: 12/6/2016 9:26am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) may be able to return to practice this week, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Huddle Up: Williams has been out since undergoing knee surgery after Week 9. The 33-year-old doesn't hold much fantasy value at the moment with Le'Veon Bell healthy and hogging all the touches out of the backfield, but he is one of the most valuable handcuffs in fantasy football and should be owned by forward-thinking Bell owners.

  • Posted: 11/29/2016 9:56am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) is 'perking up' and appears to be on track to return Week 13 against the New York Giants after undergoing minor knee surgery about three weeks ago, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Huddle Up: Le'Veon Bell has operated as the clear featured back in Pittsburgh since his return from suspension and there is little reason to believe that will change barring injury. However, Williams is one of the most valuable handcuffs in fantasy football, making him a smart stash for any owner.

  • Posted: 11/17/2016 5:27pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Huddle Up: Despite the injury, Williams should remain stashed in all formats in case Le'Veon Bell misses any time in the coming weeks.

  • Posted: 10/21/2016 11:29am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) has been ruled out Week 7 against the New England Patriots.

Huddle Up: Williams did not practice all week. While Fitzgerald Toussaint moves up a spot on the depth chart for now, Williams' status this week all but locks Le'Veon Bell into a massive workload for an offense that was already missing Ben Roethlisberger.

  • Posted: 10/13/2016 6:49pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) returned to practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Huddle Up: Williams isn't worth starting as long as Le'Veon Bell is healthy and staying out of trouble, but he is a must-own handcuff for Bell owners.

  • Posted: 10/12/2016 2:10pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: Williams has received only five carries since Le'Veon Bell has returned to the lineup and should continue to see limited playing time moving forward. Owners should keep Williams on the bench unless Bell suffers an injury.

  • Posted: 10/11/2016 9:42am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) was among the injured players head coach Mike Tomlin discussed with the media Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Williams only received one carry against the New York Jets in Week 5, so this might help to explain that. Unfortunately, owners won't know anymore until the Steelers return to practice Wednesday, but his status is much less important in fantasy now than it would have been about two weeks ago. Given his high-profile status as perhaps the best handcuff in fantasy, he's obviously well worth holding in the event of another injury or suspension to Le'Veon Bell.

  • Posted: 10/5/2016 2:13pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Huddle Up: Williams will be fine for Week 5 and will have a limited role with Le'Veon Bell back in the lineup. He could be a flex option in some leagues but he is no longer a must-start option.

  • Posted: 9/22/2016 7:40pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 22, after being given a day off Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Huddle Up: Williams has 237 rushing yards and 10 catches through two games, and he should be considered a RB1 in Week 3 in what will likely be his final start before Le'Veon Bell returns.

  • Posted: 9/21/2016 5:13pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Huddle Up: Williams will be fine for the team's Week 3 game and will be receiving his last start before Le'Veon Bell returns. Williams has been one of the best running backs through the first two weeks of the season and should be a starter in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 9/18/2016 10:28pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams carried 32 times for 94 yards in the Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he added four receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown on five targets.

Huddle Up: Williams is filling in admirably for the suspended Le'Veon Bell, who is out at least one more week. Williams remains a low-end RB1 in all fantasy formats the way he is performing.

  • Posted: 9/15/2016 5:37pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 15, after receiving a rest day.

Huddle Up: Williams faces a tough matchup against Cincinnati in Week 2, but he should see enough touches to deploy as a RB2.

  • Posted: 9/14/2016 2:19pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Huddle Up: Williams is receiving a rest day and should see most of the carries in Week 2 after rushing for 143 yards in the opener. He should be a starting option in all leagues even though he will be facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals defense.

  • Posted: 9/12/2016 7:54pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams carried 26 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 1 game against the Washington Redskins and he also racked up six receptions for 28 yards.

Huddle Up: D-Will, subbing for the suspended Le'Veon Bell, had a huge game and is a viable RB2 in all fantasy formats until Bell returns in Week 4. Don't drop Williams, though, once Bell is back, as he should still have some kind of role in the offense.
