Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers said he is not worried about his contract situation and is willing to play out the last year of his current contract.

Huddle Up: Rivers has thrown for at least 4,000 yards in each of the last six seasons and has thrown 25 or more touchdowns in each of the last 11 seasons. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 1/25/2019 12:41pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers is taking a 'year-by-year' mentality to his playing future but believes he has a 'handful' of seasons left, according to comments he made during a recent interview with XTRA 1360 San Diego.

Huddle Up: Rivers is entering the final season of the five-year contract he signed in 2015 and just turned 37, but he played at an MVP level for a while in 2018, finishing with 4,308 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a 105.5 passer rating to go along with a 68.3 completion percentage. With the glut of enticing options available at his position, Rivers will likely be a value pick once again as a fringe fantasy QB1 in 2019.

  • Posted: 1/17/2019 5:06pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers likely will have contract extension talks with the team this offseason, according to general manager Tom Telesco. Rivers said he would like to play several more seasons.

Huddle Up: Rivers finished in the top 10 in passing touchdowns, passing yards and completion percentage this season. He likely will have most of his weapons back in 2019 and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback next season.

  • Posted: 1/13/2019 1:39pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 25-of-51 passes for 331 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the AFC Divisional Round playoff game loss against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 13.

Huddle Up: Rivers finished the regular season with 4,308 passing yards, good for eighth in the NFL, and he had 32 touchdowns to finish sixth. It was also his sixth straight season with 4,000 or more passing yards, and the 10th time he reached the mark in his NFL career. He'll head into 2019 as a low-end QB1 yet again for fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 1/6/2019 1:42pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 22-for-32 for 160 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card playoff game. He also rushed for 15 yards on three carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Rivers has been held to under 200 yards in each of the last three games, but two of the games were against the Ravens. He should have more success next week against the New England Patriots and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 1/4/2019 6:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers faces the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round, and his 30.2 Total QBR against the Ravens in Week 16 was his worst of the season. The meeting with Baltimore was also the only game this season when Rivers failed to throw at least one touchdown.

Huddle Up: Rivers had an excellent season, but Baltimore's defense is at or near the top of the list in almost every category. Even with limited options available, you will want to go with another quarterback for your fantasy contests.

  • Posted: 12/22/2018 8:57pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 23 of his 37 passes for 181 yards and two interceptions in a 22-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16.

Huddle Up: It was a rough outing against an excellent Baltimore defense, but he has a great chance to rebound in Week 17 against a Denver defense he torched for 401 yards earlier this year.

  • Posted: 12/13/2018 8:32pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 26 of his 38 passes for 313 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions and the game-winning two-point conversation with four seconds left in a 29-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15.

Huddle Up: Rivers helped the Chargers put up 15 points in the final minutes to lead the comeback, and he has thrown multiple touchdowns in 13 of the 14 games this season. A tough matchup with Baltimore looms in Week 16, but Rivers will still have low-end QB1 potential.

  • Posted: 12/12/2018 4:54pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers has produced his lowest passer rating (84.2) against the Kansas City Chiefs compared to any other opponent whom he's faced more than three times in his 15-year career. He faces the Chiefs in Week 15 on Thursday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: It's a pretty interesting stat, given that Thursday's outing will mark Rivers' 27th career start opposite Kansas City -- his most games against one opponent. Even so, it would be hard to justify benching Rivers considering the great year he's having and the fact the Chiefs surrender the fifth-most points per game (27) in the NFL.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 6:46pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 19 of his 29 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown and gained seven yards on two carries in a 26-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14.

Huddle Up: It took until Week 14, but Rivers finally failed to throw multiple touchdowns in a game. However, he could bounce back in a big way in Week 15 in what will likely be a high-scoring shootout with the Kansas City Chiefs.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 10:57pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 26 of 36 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Rivers isn't the biggest yardage producer at the position, but he has now thrown for multiple scores in every game this season. Next week brings the free-falling Cincinnati Bengals to Los Angeles, making the veteran an attractive option.

  • Posted: 11/25/2018 6:22pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 28 of his 29 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. His 25 consecutive completions to open the game set an NFL record, and his 96.8 completion percentage was also a single-game record.

Huddle Up: Rivers continued his excellent season, and he has still tossed multiple touchdowns in every game. He hasn't always thrown for a ton of yardage, but that could change if the injury Melvin Gordon suffered turns out to be serious.

  • Posted: 11/25/2018 7:46am ET

The Los Angeles Chargers are interested in having QB Philip Rivers continue to be their starting quarterback for years to come, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. They reportedly wouldn't mind drafting a quarterback and having him sit behind Rivers for a few seasons.

Huddle Up: Rivers, who will turn 37 in less than two weeks, is having one of the better seasons of his career, with 2,860 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions through 10 games. His current contract expires at the end of the 2019 season but Rivers reportedly wants to keep playing until the Chargers move into their new stadium in 2020, at the very least, according to Rapoport. He has thrown at least two touchdown passes in every game this season and should still be viewed as a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 11/18/2018 7:53pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 28 of his 43 passes for 401 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 23-22 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 11.

Huddle Up: Rivers can still pile up yards when he needs to, and he has thrown at least two touchdowns in every game this year. He offers a safe floor as a low-end QB1.

  • Posted: 11/11/2018 6:49pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 18-of-26 passes for 223 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 10 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Rivers has been a steady fantasy contributor this season, posting two or more touchdown passes in each of his nine starts. He'll face the Denver Broncos in Week 11 at home in the first of two meetings.

  • Posted: 11/4/2018 7:38pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 13 of his 26 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns in a 25-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.

Huddle Up: It wasn't his best performance by any means, but Rivers has now thrown multiple touchdowns in every game this year. He offers safe floor as a low-end QB1.

  • Posted: 10/21/2018 10:01am ET

Los Angeles Chargers WR Philip Rivers went 19-for-26 for 306 yards and two touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7.

Huddle Up: Rivers has thrown for at least two touchdowns in every game this season and has thrown for at least 300 yards in two of the last three games. He will be facing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9 and should be a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/14/2018 1:24pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 11-for-20 for 207 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6.

Huddle Up: Rivers has thrown at least two touchdowns in every game this season but was not asked to do a lot in this game. He will be facing the Tennessee Titans in London next week and should continue to be a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 8:22pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 22 of his 27 passes for 339 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-10 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 5.

Huddle Up: It was the second time that Rivers has topped 300 yards this year, and he has now thrown multiple touchdowns in every game. He's cruising to another QB1 campaign, but he could have his work cut out for him against a stingy Cleveland defense in Week 6.

  • Posted: 9/30/2018 9:56pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 25-of-39 for 250 yards and three touchdowns to go along with one interception in Week 4 versus the San Francisco 49ers.

Huddle Up: Rivers telegraphed his interception, badly overshooting Keenan Allen on a whip route that Antone Exum Jr. ran back 32 yards for a touchdown on his second attempt of the game. After that, it was business as usual for Rivers, who has thrown for three TDs in all but one game a quarter of the way into the season. The 36-year-old should post yet another fantasy QB1 performance in Week 5 as he draws a favorable matchup at home versus the Oakland Raiders.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 10:59pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 18 of 30 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.

Huddle Up: Even with Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib sidelined by injuries, Rivers couldn't exploit the Rams secondary. He had his moments, but it was easily his worst game of the young season. Rivers remains a strong QB2 with appeal in the right matchups.

  • Posted: 9/16/2018 2:04pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 23-for-27 for 256 yards and three touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.

Huddle Up: Rivers has been an underrated fantasy quarterback for the last few years but is off to a solid start in 2018. He will be facing a tough Los Angeles Rams defense next week but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 7:10pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 34-of-51 passes for 424 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Week 1 home loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. He passed Fran Tarkenton for sixth-place all-time on the NFL's TD passes list (343).

Huddle Up: Rivers certainly did his part, but he was plagued by a handful of drops on deep balls that should have been caught. He'll look to rally the troops in a Week 2 road trip against the Buffalo Bills and a defense which allowed 47 points in their opener.

  • Posted: 8/18/2018 10:42pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers made his preseason debut Saturday, Aug. 18 against the Seattle Seahawks. He finished 6-of-7 for 62 yards in his one quarter of action before turning it over to the second-team offense.

Huddle Up: Rivers looked sharp in his first official action, and he looks to be in line for another strong campaign. He has a solid running game and plenty of weapons at wideout, including Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin. Consider him a low-end QB1 in most fantasy formats heading into the regular season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

  • Posted: 8/16/2018 12:58pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers will play in the second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 16. Rivers did not play in the first preseason game.

Huddle Up: Rivers has been one of the more consistent fantasy quarterbacks over the last several years but is still undervalued in some fantasy leagues. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback in deeper leagues.
