Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers refuted reports Tuesday, Jan. 17, that claimed he asked for a trade or wanted to be dealt, specifically to the San Francisco 49ers. Rivers has a no-trade clause in his contract.

Huddle Up: Rivers should enter 2017's fantasy draft season as a sound QB2. While he doesn't offer much upside for a monster season, the veteran is capable of turning in a few huge games during the course of the year as a matchup play.

  • Posted: 1/4/2017 3:54pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers achieved one of the most underappreciated seasons of the year, throwing for 4,390 yards and 33 touchdowns -- ranked fifth and fourth, respectively, among quarterbacks.

Huddle Up: Rivers has seemingly been underrated throughout his career, but he has made his mark in the fantasy realm. He keeps putting up QB1 numbers despite a plethora of injuries to his offensive counterparts. He should be drafted as a QB1 again in 2017.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 2:11pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 24 of his 47 pass attempts for 321 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: The Bolts haven't had a great season, but Rivers has been a bright spot with eight straight games tossing two or more touchdown passes.

  • Posted: 12/13/2016 4:44pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers has played in 20 career games opposite the Oakland Raiders, completing 409 of 650 passes (62.9 percent) for 4,835 yards with 31 touchdowns versus 15 interceptions, resulting in a 91.8 QB rating. The Chargers are 14-6 in those 20 games.

Huddle Up: Rivers is normally in the QB1 discussion, but he might deserve a little extra consideration for fantasy owners in the postseason this weekend, as he's put up some impressive numbers against the division rival Raiders. Furthermore, Oakland's defense has allowed 20 or more points in six straight contests. He's definitely someone to ponder for those who don't have their starting quarterback permanently installed.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 2:25pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 21-for-39 for 236 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against the Carolina Panthers in Week 14.

Huddle Up: Rivers lost his starting running back early in the game, so he had to throw a lot during the game. He has thrown 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over the last four games and had at least 30 pass attempts in three of those games. Rivers has plenty of weapons to work with on offense but can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback against the Oakland Raiders in Week 15.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 6:51pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 23 of his 44 pass attempts for 326 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions in the Week 10 game against the Miami Dolphins. His pick-six in the fourth quarter cost the team a victory. The four interceptions tied a career high.

Huddle Up: Rivers put up good numbers for his fantasy owners, but his four turnovers took off a little luster from an otherwise solid stat line. Fantasy owners need to go another way in Week 11 with the Bolts on a bye.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 10:25pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 24 of his 33 pass attempts for 275 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the Week 9 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Huddle Up: Rivers has two or more touchdown passes in four of his past six games, and at least one score in each of the six outings. He remains a solid low-end QB1 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 8:42pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 20 of his 47 pass attempts for 267 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 8 game against the Denver Broncos.

Huddle Up: Rivers has thrown for 267 or more yards in five of his past six games, and he has at least one touchdown pass in each of the past five, and seven of eight games this season. He remains a decent low-end QB1 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 10:02pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 27 of his 44 pass attempts for 371 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Huddle Up: Imagine if Rivers actually had an NFL-caliber cadre of receivers for a full season. He remains a decent low-end QB1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. He faces a difficult matchup in Week 8 in Denver.

  • Posted: 9/24/2016 6:49pm ET

San Diego Chargers TE Hunter Henry is a 'tremendous receiver,' according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt, and QB Philip Rivers said Henry's 'catches are coming.'

Huddle Up: Henry is set for plenty of snaps against the Colts in Week 3 with Antonio Gates banged up. He is worth a flier in DFS formats.

  • Posted: 9/19/2016 12:10am ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers threw for four touchdown passes during his team's 38-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Huddle Up: Rivers has always mastered the Jaguars defense, but this is good news for a team that could sure use it. He remains a solid QB1 option moving forward and is also worth the money in two-QB leagues.

  • Posted: 9/16/2016 11:18am ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers is a combined 80-of-108 for 962 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions against the Jacksonville Jaguars - their Week 2 opponent - over the last three seasons.

Huddle Up: Without Keenan Allen last year, Rivers lit up the Jaguars for 300 yards and four touchdowns in what was his most productive fantasy day of the season. In their 2014 meeting, the 34-year-old signal-caller exploded for 377 and three, respectively. Jacksonville has improved defensively this season, but Rivers remains a low-end QB1 in this matchup even with Allen out for the rest of the season.

  • Posted: 9/9/2016 9:34pm ET

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin's ability to stretch the field should open up space for intermediate passing routes, and QB Philip Rivers said it took him a while to adjust to Benjamin's speed and realize he couldn't overthrow him on deep routes.

Huddle Up: Benjamin won't be as consistent as Keenan Allen or Antonio Gates, but he should deliver his share of big plays and have an occasional big game. He is an all-or-nothing play in standard leagues and daily formats.

  • Posted: 9/9/2016 7:54pm ET

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen appears to be even faster this season, QB Philip Rivers said.

Huddle Up: Allen was on his way to a huge 2015 campaign before suffering a lacerated kidney, and he opens 2016 comfortably in the WR2 range.

  • Posted: 1/26/2016 10:17pm ET

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers considered retirement after the 2014 season when he dealt with rib and back injuries. He eventually signed a four-year contract extension last August, and Rivers now says he feels far better this offseason than last. 'This year, physically, I'm great. Emotionally, it's been rough, but I'm excited -- I really am excited about who the new core is going to be. I'm excited to be part of that group. I'm waiting for it, kind of letting them take it. ... It's not going to be the buddies I came with; they're going to be gone,' Rivers said.

Huddle Up: The 34-year-old QB hit career highs in attempts (661), completions (437) and yards (4,792) while throwing for 29 TDs and 13 interceptions, and certainly sounds no worse from wear.
