Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) is going to be fine following surgery to repair a fractured fibula, according to Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles, who had the same surgery in 2006. 'So Marcus is going to be good to go,' Sproles said. 'He'll probably be better than ever.'

Huddle Up: Mariota showcased a high ceiling last year, and with Tennessee likely to add a weapon or two on the offensive side, he is a QB1 candidate in 2017.

  • Posted: 12/30/2016 7:24am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles plans to play one more season in 2017.

Huddle Up: Sproles will be in his usual role as a receiving/change-of-pace back behind Byron Marshall against the Dallas Cowboys. As is the case every week, he's a risky flex option in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 12/21/2016 11:51am ET

Contrary to a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (concussion) is not on the injury report for Week 16. He fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Sproles should share work with Ryan Mathews during the game and likely will be more involved in the passing game. He will be a risky option because of his concussion but can be a flex option in some point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 12/20/2016 10:40am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (concussion) logged another full practice Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: Along with Monday's full session, this should put him on track to play Thursday night, assuming he has cleared the league's concussion protocol by then. Sproles projects to be a better fantasy play then teammate Ryan Mathews considering how well the New York Giants have played defensively lately, although he will still be hard to trust as anything more than a flex in fantasy championship week.

  • Posted: 12/19/2016 2:49pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (concussion) participated fully in practice Monday, Dec. 19.

Huddle Up: As stated earlier, Sproles is too risky of a start this week coming off the concussion and as part of a backfield committee.

  • Posted: 12/19/2016 1:17pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (concussion) is expected to return for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Even with Sproles likely returning, he'll be returning on a short week and will still be part of a backfield committee. He's just too risky to start, even in PPR leagues and especially with a fantasy championship on the line.

  • Posted: 12/15/2016 9:18am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (concussion) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 15.

Huddle Up: It is looking like Sproles may not be able to play in Week 15 but still has a few days to be cleared. Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner probably would share work if Sproles is not able to play. Mathews could be a flex option in most leagues, while Barner probably should be avoided.

  • Posted: 12/12/2016 9:17am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (concussion) was placed in the league's concussion protocol Monday, Dec. 12.

Huddle Up: Sproles suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Week 14 when he got blasted on a dirty play by the Washington Redskins' Deshazor Everett during a punt return before he even had a chance to receive the ball. Everett was somehow not flagged and Sproles needed several minutes on the ground before making his way to the locker room. He did not return. Consider Sproles extremely doubtful for Week 15 against the Baltimore Ravens.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 8:33pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed seven times for just 14 yards, but he was able to score a rushing touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also had six receptions for 35 yards on six targets.

Huddle Up: Sproles is healthy after dealing with a rib injury and he remains a solid play in most PPR fantasy formats. He has less value in standard leagues.

  • Posted: 11/28/2016 8:51pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (ribs) rushed three times for just six yards in the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers Monday, Nov. 28. He added five receptions for 48 yards on seven targets.

Huddle Up: Sproles also had one long reception in the second half nullified by a holding penalty. Fantasy owners can't complain too much, as this is what he does. He is a solid flex option in PPR leagues, and more of an RB4 in standard formats.

  • Posted: 11/26/2016 12:20pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 26, and is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Huddle Up: Sproles should share work with Wendell Smallwood in Week 12 and probably will be more involved in passing game. He should be considered a flex option in most leagues but can be a low-end No. 2 running back in deeper point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 11/26/2016 10:14am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) is set to play Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: This has been the expectation, as Sproles practiced in full all week. With Ryan Mathews ruled out, it is quite possible the veteran will go back to being the lead back as well, although Wendell Smallwood is going to be involved one way the other. Sproles should be considered a RB3/flex option with RB2 upside this week.

  • Posted: 11/25/2016 1:09pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 25.

Huddle Up: It appears like Sproles will be able to play in Week 12 as long as he can handle the pain. He probably would share work with Wendell Smallwood if Ryan Mathews is not able to play. Sproles can be a flex option on most leagues if he is active for the game.

  • Posted: 11/24/2016 9:32am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Huddle Up: It appears Sproles has a solid chance to play this week despite his injury. He could receive more work than usual if Ryan Mathews misses the game. He has been able to produce in the running and passing game over the last several weeks and can be at least a flex option if he plays.

  • Posted: 11/23/2016 8:35am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) is out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Huddle Up: Sproles hasn't been very useful in fantasy the last few games, but he did have eight grabs two weeks ago against Atlanta. He's a risky flex against the Green Bay Packers, and he doesn't warrant consideration outside of PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 11/21/2016 9:59am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) has been diagnosed with a rib fracture, but he is expected to be 'good' for Week 12 as the injury is in a 'safe area', according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman.

Huddle Up: It sounds as if owners can plan on having him available next Monday against the decimated Green Bay Packers defense. While it is a good bet Philadelphia will choose to attack Green Bay with its running backs, it is much more of a mystery if the Eagles will their plethora of backs to pound away at the Packers on the ground or get Sproles out in space. With so little clarity in the Philly backfield, owners should consider all Eagles' backs flex plays at best.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 3:59pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles WR Darren Sproles (ribs) left the Week 11 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an injury to his ribs and he did not return.

Huddle Up: Sproles joined Ryan Mathews on the sidelines. If both are forced to miss time going forward it would be rookie Wendell Smallwood and Kenjon Barner seeing a bump in touches.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 6:28pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed two times for 19 yards in the Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons and he added eight receptions for 57 yards on 10 targets.

Huddle Up: Sproles had briefly climbed ahead of Ryan Mathews in the pecking order for carries, but he was behind both Mathews and rookie Wendell Smallwood for carries Sunday. Sproles remains a decent PPR fantasy option heading into Week 11, but he is a risky play in standard leagues with a difficult matchup in Seattle.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 9:35am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles has officially moved to the front of the team's running back committee, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Huddle Up: Sproles owns a 28-9 advantage in carries over former lead back Ryan Mathews over the last two weeks, but the latter has kept pace with him in fantasy by scoring a touchdown each time. Unfortunately for Sproles and his owners, his 'promotion' hasn't resulted in much of an increase in fantasy production. The 33-year-old back's lone touchdown this season came on a receiving score in Week 3. He should be considered a flex play at best moving forward.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 4:22pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles carried 13 times for 57 yards in the Week 9 game against the New York Giants, and he added three receptions for 14 yards on nine targets.

Huddle Up: Sproles had 16 total touches to six for Ryan Mathews, two for Wendell Smallwood and one for Kenjon Barner. He is the top fantasy option in the crowded backfield heading into Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.

  • Posted: 11/2/2016 7:58pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is averaging 6.6 yards per carry over the last four games, and he has played more snaps than RB Ryan Mathews in all seven games the two have played together this season.

Huddle Up: Sproles' role and production have been increasing, and he is worth a look as a flex play in Week 9, especially in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 10/31/2016 7:05pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles could take over as the team's primary running back. Head coach Doug Pederson said Monday, Oct. 31, that he is considering replacing RB Ryan Mathews with Sproles. 'I can't say that 100 percent,' Pederson said. 'It's something we'll evaluate in these next couple of days and make that determination.'

Huddle Up: Sproles has been a very useful, and he is on pace for a career-high 105 carries and 1,040 yards from scrimmage this year. Sproles is still way more useful in fantasy formats which reward points per reception (PPR), but he is a decent flex play in standard leagues, too.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 5:26pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles posted five runs for a team-high 45 yards in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions and he added four receptions for 23 yards.

Huddle Up: Sproles should be a considered an RB3 in most standard fantasy leagues, and a low-end RB2 in formats which reward points per reception (PPR) heading into Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.

  • Posted: 9/19/2016 9:44pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles posted 12 carries for a game-high 40 yards in the Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears Monday, Sept. 19. He also had two receptions for eight yards, leading all Philly tailbacks with 14 touches.

Huddle Up: Sproles might been seeing an extra workload with Ryan Mathews dealing with a hand injury. It's a situation to watch heading into Week 3, although it's a difficult matchup for fantasy purposes against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Posted: 9/9/2016 6:26pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles will be used more as a receiver than a running back this season, and Sproles said he believes the offense will play to his strengths.

Huddle Up: Sproles could end up being a sneaky flex option in PPR formats if the Eagles are committed to using him in the passing game. He is a roll-of-the-dice play in Week 1, but he is a solid stash candidate.

  • Posted: 8/8/2016 8:45am ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is the 'best running back on the team', according to NJ.com reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Huddle Up: The statement appears to be a shot at Ryan Mathews, although Shorr-Parks could easily be referring to the Eagles' lack of healthy bodies at the position since Mathews and rookie Wendell Smallwood have both missed practice time due to injuries. Even at 33, Sproles is one of the better receiving backs in the league and figures to be a fine player to round out the back end of a fantasy roster as a RB5 in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 7/29/2016 12:22pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles signed a one-year, $4.5 million extension Friday, July 29. The two sides had worked on it since June.

Huddle Up: The Eagles reaffirmed their commitment to the 33-year-old, who is continuing his jack-of-all-trades role for a new coaching regime. He could be in for even more offensive snaps this season with DeMarco Murray no longer in the picture.

  • Posted: 6/3/2016 2:13pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles and DT Fletcher Cox are expected to be present at next week's mandatory camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Huddle Up: The soon-to-be 33-year-old Sproles is entering the final year of his contract and has skipped voluntary workouts, and although a return to his usual third-down role beckons, his time in Philly appears to be numbered.

  • Posted: 5/17/2016 1:17pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is absent from organized team activities as the team has fielded trade offers for him. The team received calls in the middle of the NFL draft about Sproles, according to sources.

Huddle Up: The soon to be 33-year-old Sproles should have another good change-of-pace season or two left in him, but it's sounding unlikely they will be in Philly, where the post-Chip Kelly purge continues. Stay tuned ...

  • Posted: 4/24/2016 5:04pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles could be traded this offseason, in the opinion of NJ.com's Elliot Shorr-Parks. Shorr-Parks views Sproles as a logical and likely trade candidate, with Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner set as the two running backs who for sure will make the final roster.

Huddle Up: Sproles will be 33 in June, and while he's not necessarily at the end yet, he was a Chip Kelly acquisition who doesn't necessarily fit into Doug Pederson's new offense in Philly. The Eagles also are likely to add another RB in the draft.

  • Posted: 4/18/2016 1:35pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles may miss the minicamp this week due to a family issue.

Huddle Up: Not ideal given that the Eagles have a new coaching staff and will be running a new offense, but Sproles is a veteran so he shouldn't be too far behind when he's able to rejoin the team.
