Chicago Bears QB Jimmy Clausen re-signed with the team Friday, March 6. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Huddle Up: Not the big QB news out of the Windy City that we're all waiting for, but good news for Clausen, whose only start last season with the Bears resulted in a concussion. Overall, the former second-round pick of the Panthers finished 26-of-48 for 223 yards, two TDs and an interception last season and now owns a 1-10 career record as a starter.

Chicago Bears QB Jimmy Clausen (concussion) suffered a concussion in Week 16 and has been ruled out for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Jay Cutler will start against the Vikings. Cutler threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns against Minnesota in Week 11 but a lot has happened in Chicago since then. The Minnesota defense is more of a plug and play this week than Cutler.

The Chicago Bears released QB Jordan Palmer on Sunday, Aug. 24. QB Jimmy Clausen has won the backup quarterback spot.

Huddle Up: The 2010 second-round pick of the Panthers is the new "Josh McCown" in the Windy City, backing up Jay Cutler, who's missed at least 5 games in two of the last three seasons.

Chicago Bears QB Jimmy Clausen was accurate with his throws during practice Monday, July 28, and he led a touchdown drive during a two-minute drill. Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com believes Clausen is 'very much' in the mix for the backup QB job.

Huddle Up: Hey, who knows, Clausen could find himself in fantasy play at the controls of one of the league's top offenses if something happens to starter Jay Cutler. Jordan Palmer and 6th-round pick David Fales also are in the running for the No. 2 QB gig so stay tuned.

Updating a previous report, the Chicago Bears have signed free-agent QB Jimmy Clausen (Panthers) to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed. The team also waived LB Lawrence Wilson.

Huddle Up: Clausen, a 2010 2nd-round pick of the Panthers, hasn't thrown a pass since his rookie season, but will be in the thick of the hunt to back up Jay Cutler considering free-agent Jordan Palmer, 6th-round pick David Fales and undrafted free agent Jerrod Johnson currently round out the Bears' QB depth chart.
