Huddle Up: Good to see Gerhart back on the field, as the Jags will be counting on him to be their backfield workhorse this season.

Huddle Up: With Gerhart's ADP ranking 22nd among RBs this summer, nervous fantasy GMs would certainly like to get a glimpse of him in his new role this preseason.
Posted: 8/9/2014 2:56pm ET
Huddle Up: Gerhart could be held out one more preseason game but it's not a major issue. Gerhart is scheduled for a big workload in Jacksonville this season assuming he can stay healthy.

Huddle Up: Definitely no sense pushing the issue this early in the preseason with your No. 1 RB.
Posted: 8/5/2014 11:18am ET
Huddle Up: Gerhart is dealing with a hip flexor injury. Given that he's expected to carry a heavy workload during the season, there's no issue with him not getting a ton of reps in August. However, it's a new team and he does need to get familiar with the offense. Missing a couple days now shouldn't be a big deal; if his absence extends into August, start sliding him down your cheat sheets.

Huddle Up: On one side, it's only the early preseason, but it also reinforces the concern that the unproven Gerhart just might not be able to handle a full-time starting RB gig.
Posted: 8/2/2014 11:06pm ET
Huddle Up: The injury is nothing to be concerned about going forward. Gerhart is expected to be a three-down back for the Jaguars this season and should dominate touches as long as he stays healthy. Gerhart is currently going off the board in the early fourth round on average.

Huddle Up: Gerhart may have to create his own holes behind a rebuilt line in Jacksonville, so a little girth to his frame isn't a bad thing. It's easy to forget he was a Heisman finalist in college and is a more complete back than he's been given the opportunity to show as Adrian Peterson's caddy in Minnesota--though he may not have the blazing speed you associate with a home-run back.

Huddle Up: There's a bit of a conundrum when assessing Gerhart, who on the positive side only has accumulated 353 career touches in 4 pro seasons. Still, on the flip side, fantasy GMs are right to wonder if the RB will hold up shouldering the main load after never accumulating more than 109 rushes or 132 offensive touches in any one season so far.
Posted: 6/19/2014 2:11am ET
Huddle Up: Right now the Jaguars roster is thin on playmakers, so Gerhart is as good a choice as any to carry the team offensively. He has the potential to be a significant fantasy value this season.

Huddle Up: It's easy to forget Gerhart was a multi-purpose Heisman finalist in college, and he was productive when spelling Peterson in Minnesota. The Jaguars don't have much else offensively, so through sheer volume he'll have an opportunity to be a productive fantasy contributor.
Posted: 4/28/2014 11:26am ET
Huddle Up: Gerhart is low mileage after backing up Adrian Peterson in Minnesota. In Jacksonville, his backups are Denard Robinson and Jordan Todman, so expecting Gerhart to see 15-plus carries a game seems conservative.
Posted: 4/24/2014 1:08am ET
Huddle Up: Right now there's no competition on the Jacksonville roster, so free agent acquisition Gerhart has the gig by default. That could change during the upcoming NFL draft, but Gerhart was solid in limited relief appearances for Adrian Peterson in Minnesota so he could surprise if given a legit opportunity at 20 touches per game.
Posted: 3/24/2014 12:34pm ET
Huddle Up: There's fantasy value to be had here, if for no other reason than sheer quantity of touches. Don't overlook Adrian Peterson's former backup on fantasy draft day.
Posted: 3/11/2014 10:50pm ET
Huddle Up: If the Jags part ways with Maurice Jones-Drew as expected, Gerhart could get his long-awaited chance to be a No. 1 RB. He has logged only 276 carries in 4 NFL seasons playing in the sizable shadow of Adrian Peterson.
Posted: 3/9/2014 3:48pm ET
Huddle Up: Gerhart wants out from behind Adrian Peterson's large shadow in Minnesota, and the Niners could fill that bill with their run-first attack and the advancing age -- he'll be 31 in May -- of starter Frank Gore.
Posted: 3/2/2014 5:14pm ET
Huddle Up: Gerhart, who turns 27 later this month, is in his prime and it's now or never for the RB, who has 276 career rushing attempts in 4 seasons, including only 86 over the last two campaigns.
Posted: 2/10/2014 1:45pm ET
Huddle Up: Gerhart had decent success filling in for Adrian Peterson in Minnesota. He's also a complete back, with power, speed, and pass-catching ability that would make him a tempting free agent option for any back-needy team.
Posted: 12/24/2013 12:06am ET
Huddle Up: Just in case you were eyeing Gerhart given Adrian Peterson's uncertain Week 17 status with his foot and groin issues.
Posted: 12/16/2013 2:41pm ET
Huddle Up: Again, don't bother with Matt Asiata.
Posted: 12/15/2013 10:33pm ET
Huddle Up: Matt Asiata had a huge game, but Gerhart could be back next week.
