Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate is expected to be covered by New England Patriots CB Darrelle Revis, while CB Brandon Browner figures to cover WR Calvin Johnson in Week 12.

Huddle Up: No reason to make any rash moves, but it's not exactly the news Tate owners wanted to hear with the WR coming off his worst outing (2-41) of the season in the Week 11 loss to the Cardinals.

  • Posted: 10/22/2014 12:07am ET

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate is one of just two receivers to have at least five receptions in each of the first seven games of the season.

Huddle Up: That means Tate was even producing way back when Calvin Johnson was healthy and is well on his way to becoming the first pass-catcher to lead the Lions in receiving since Megatron's rookie year of 2007.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 5, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Huddle Up: Given Calvin Johnson's lingering ankle issues, Tate could be in line for a second straight big game following his 8-116 showing vs. the Jets. He was targeted a team-high 11 times in the contest, and no other Detroit WR or TE had more than 4.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate said he believes his numbers can go up this year despite moving from the top option in Seattle to the No. 2 option in Detroit. 'I think my numbers can be way better in this offense naturally how it's set up,' Tate said. 'I was coming from, you gotta think I was in the toughest division with the 49ers, Rams and Cardinals, defensively, with a run-heavy offense and now I'm going to a pass-happy offense where I'm on the same team as the best player in the league, one of the best players in the league who is going to draw a lot of attention, a lot of double coverage, which is going to leave me with a lot of single coverage with a lot of No. 2 and No. 3 cornerbacks.'

Huddle Up: The Lions will throw the ball infinitely more than Tate's former team did in Seattle, so that alone should increase his opportunities. And while he's running as the WR2, playing Calvin Johnson's wingman should yield plenty of chances to face single coverage. In other words, fantasy owners should join Tate in expecting big--or at least improved--numbers this season.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) was removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 28, and he is expected to take part in the team's first training camp practice later in the day. Tate missed part of the team's spring workouts with a shoulder injury and said his shoulder was 'just a little soreness' in June.

Huddle Up: Tate's injury was never thought to be serious. He has a good opportunity to put up career-best numbers in Detroit's offense this season.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (undisclosed) will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform List, according to a league source.

Huddle Up: Tate should have time to carve out his wingman role opposite Calvin Johnson, assuming his undisclosed injury doesn't keep him on the sidelines for an extended period.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate said he expects to catch more passes in 2014 than he did last season because opponents will be focusing on trying to cover WR Calvin Johnson. 'I think if I can stay healthy ... it's going to be fun,' Tate said. 'I have a chance to catch a ton more balls. I'm going to see a lot of single coverage. I'm probably going to see a lot of No. 2 and No. 3 cornerbacks because everyone's going to be on No. 81.'

Huddle Up: The Lions throw more in one game than Tate's former team threw in a month, so even if he's the second option for Matthew Stafford he'll see plenty of balls in Detroit this season.

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate said he has learned about 70 to 80 percent of the offensive playbook so far. 'I think I understand the majority of the material. I think I understand the concepts. I'd say around 70, 80 percent,' Tate said. 'The last 30 will really be understanding how to run their routes and how it's supposed to be executed.'

Huddle Up: Tate will be trying to repeat Nate Burleson's 2010 & 2011 stat-line feats as he's been the only No. 2 wideout to top 40 catches in a season playing alongside Calvin Johnson over the past 6 years.

The New York Jets could pursue Seattle Seahawks impending free-agent WR Golden Tate this offseason, because general manager John Idzik is familiar with Tate from his time with the Seahawks.

Huddle Up: The Jets are searching far and wide for offensive playmaker help, and Tate will be an option if his pricetag falls out of the Seahawks' range. Fellow Seattle WR Sidney Rice could also be an option.

  • Posted: 2/2/2014 11:30pm ET

The Seattle Seahawks will try to re-sign impending free-agent WR Golden Tate if they have enough money to spend this offseason.

Huddle Up: Tate had a career-high 64 receptions for 898 yards and 5 TDs in leading the Seahawks, but Seattle most certainly isn't going to overpay for Tate given the other similarly talented wideouts on the roster.
