Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki was present for the start of a three-day voluntary minicamp Tuesday, April 16, but he did not participate. He is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery at the end of last season. The team expects him to be ready to participate soon.
Huddle Up: Moeaki will compete with Anthony Fasano for reps in what should be a productive new offensive system for Chiefs' tight ends. Good for him to be at the minicamp sessions, but getting back on the field and getting reps with Alex Smith would certainly help Moeaki distance himself from Fasano.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (knee) has looked good in training camp, as he makes his way back from a serious knee injury, and he is expected to see time in the team's first preseason game Friday, Aug. 10, against the Arizona Cardinals. Moeaki is also expected to see time in a scrimmage with the Cardinals Tuesday, Aug. 7.
Huddle Up: K.C. will welcome Moeaki back with open arms after he missed the entire 2011 season with a torn ACL suffered in the Chiefs' preseason finale. In his absence, K.C. tight ends accounted for 34 receptions, 325 yards and a TD, with the bulk of the production coming from Leonard Pope. In his rookie season of 2010, Moeaki had 47 catches for 556 yards and 3 scores. The Chiefs have added free-agent TE Kevin Boss, but there's no reason Moeaki shouldn't equal or eclipse his 2010 stats this season, barring of course another injury.
