New York Jets RB Joe McKnight's roster spot could be in jeopardy if the team decides to sign free-agent WR Joshua Cribbs because Cribbs could handle the kick return duties. The Jets also added RBs Chris Ivory and Mike Goodson this offseason.

Huddle Up: McKnight definitely looks to be on the hot seat, and with Ivory and Goodson added he's lost what little fantasy value he was clinging to.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team plans to use a three-man committee at running back with Shonn Greene, Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight.

Huddle Up: It's understandable the Jets want to take touches away from the ordinary Greene and test-drive Powell and McKnight. However, the move comes at a most inopportune time for fantasy owners who have been eying the Jets' extremely favorable schedule for running backs and hoping Greene might provide a sneaky source of fantasy points down the stretch. Now that potential productivity will be split between the three backs, though if last week's game is any indication Greene and Powell will command larger shares of the pie than McKnight.

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight (ankle) and DT Kenrick Ellis (knee) and did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Huddle Up: McKnight missed the Jets' Week 8 game against the Dolphins and apparently still isn't quite right even with a bye last week. We'll see if he can do any more in practice as Sunday draws closer.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Joe McKnight (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Week 7.

Huddle Up: McKnight obviously would be a big help with the team's thin RB corps, and his kick-return prowess is the Jets' top special-team weapon. CB Antonio Cromartie could return kickoffs if McKnight can't give it a go.

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight accepts his new role as a cornerback, but he is not happy about the position switch. "I was drafted as a running back," McKnight said. "The way I took it as I wasn't good enough to play running back; that's what I took it as. I don't know if that's the case or not." McKnight, however, will still have a role on offense.

Huddle Up: Switching positions at the pro level is not unheard of, but it is rare. McKnight picks up value in IDP leagues, but moving him to cornerback likely means that Bilal Powell is the front-runner in the "who'll take over when the Jets finally realize Shonn Greene just isn't that good" race.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said RBs Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight could receive more carries earlier in games if RB Shonn Greene continues to struggle. Ryan said the possibility has not been discussed at this point but could be a consideration.

Huddle Up: Looks like Ryan may finally be noticing what the rest of us have understood for awhile now.

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight's status for Week 1 remains uncertain at this point due to a hamstring pull.

Huddle Up: At this point McKnight is backing up Bilal Powell as the Jets' change of pace guy, though his loss in the return game is a blow.

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight (undisclosed) was helped off the field during practice Monday, Aug. 6, after going down with an injury.

Huddle Up: We don't know what the problem is, but we do know that McKnight is a player the Jets can't afford to lose. He only had 273 total yards and didn't score a TD from scrimmage in 2011, but he was the league's top kickoff returner with an average of 31.6 yards per return. With the offseason retirement of LaDainian Tomlinson, the Jets are thin behind starter Shonn Greene. Second-year back Bilal Powell and rookie Terrance Ganaway are the the only viable options aside from Greene and McKnight.

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight understands 2012 will be a make-or-break year for him with the team. 'Yeah, it's a big year. If it I don't get it this year, it will probably be it for me,' McKnight said. 'That's how I think, I'm not saying (anything). Because it's, what, three years? After the first year, you should really have it down pat. I just have to wait and find out, see how it pans out.'

Huddle Up: McKnight's 32-carry, 158-yard performance in the 2010 season finale is a distant memory. If he really had something he'd steal more carries from the less-than-electric Shonn Greene. It's that simple.
