The New England Patriots have re-signed restricted free-agent TE Michael Hoomanawanui. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. It is not known if Hoomanawanui signed his tender offer or if it is a new contract.
Huddle Up: Hoomanawanui was viewed as insurance for Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, and with Gronk's broken forearm not yet healed that insurance may come into play this season.

The New England Patriots are set to sign TE Michael Hoomanawanui to their 53-man roster, pending a physical, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Patriots OC Josh McDaniels knows Hoomanawanui from their time together in St. Louis. The Patriots are pretty set at the tight end position, but Hoomanawanui provides depth at the position--while draining vowels from the team seamstress' letter bag.
