The Cincinnati Bengals acquired QB John Skelton off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals Wednesday, April 3.

Huddle Up: Skelton and Josh Johnson will battle to back up Andy Dalton.

The Arizona Cardinals have released QB John Skelton.

Huddle Up: Skelton was released with Brian Hoyer signing his tender and Carson Palmer all but out the door in Oakland and on his way to Arizona. Don't expect a hugh battle for Skelton's services to erupt amongst NFL teams.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton threw four interceptions in a Week 14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He made bad throws into coverage during the game and managed just 74 yards passing. Skelton also fumbled twice, losing one of them. "For them to come out and dominate the way they did in every phase of the game it's embarrassing," Skelton said after the 58-0 loss. It was the first time Arizona was shut out since losing to the Seahawks 38-0 in 2003.

Huddle Up: So much for the thought that Skelton might be an upgrade to Ryan Lindley. It's become crystal clear the Cardinals need to make some major changes at the quarterback position this offseason--either that or find a way to encase Kevin Kolb in bubble wrap.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he was happy with the improvement QB John Skelton showed in Week 9 after struggling in Week 8.

Huddle Up: With no timetable for Kolb's return, Wisenhunt might as well be happy with Skelton. He is all he has got at the position.

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton said Wednesday, Oct. 10, that his injured ankle is about 90 percent recovered, and he could play in Week 6 if circumstances warranted it.

Huddle Up: Kevin Kolb is slated to start, but Ken Whisenhunt has said he doesn't believe a player can lose his starting job due to injury so things could get interesting next week.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton (ankle) was able to take part in a full practice Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Huddle Up: Skelton appears close to playing again, but Kevin Kolb seemingly has a strong grip on the team's starting position with 8 total TDs (1 rushing) and only 2 interceptions since replacing the injured Skelton in Week 1. Kolb's passing yards have also increased each game, with the latest effort being this past Sunday's 324-yard outing against the Dolphins.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Huddle Up: Hey, the Cards are one of the NFL surprises at 2-0 and with Kevin Kolb completing 60 percent of his passes and posting a 2-0 TD-to-interception ratio, Skelton will be given all the time he needs to recover from his ankle sprain suffered in Week 1.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 14, and is listed as doubtful for Week 2.

Huddle Up: It's the Kevin Kolb show for now. If he come out firing like he did at the end of the game against Seattle, he could put up some decent numbers. More importantly, he got the ball to Larry Fitzgerald where Skelton couldn't for most of the game.

Posted: 9/10/2012 11:51am et

Updating a previous report, initial tests indicated Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton had a sprain but no fracture in his right ankle. If he has a high ankle sprain, he might be sidelined several weeks. QB Kevin Kolb rallied the team to a win off the bench in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: Early indications are that this is in fact a high ankle sprain, which likely puts Skelton on the sidelines for a month or more. Kevin Kolb takes over in Arizona, and so long as he throws to (at?) Larry Fitzgerald early and often fantasy owners won't mind the switch.

The Arizona Cardinals will start QB John Skelton at least in Week 1.

Huddle Up: His job is on shaky ground, but Skelton starting is good news for Larry Fitzgerald owners. He averaged 2.5 more targets and scored six more touchdowns with Skelton at the helm than with Kevin Kolb last season. Of course, Skelton is one stinkbomb away from Kolb taking over, so don't overdo it on that celebration jig.
