Huddle Up: With the legal system being notoriously slow while grinding its gears, Hardy's owners in IDP leagues can expect to have the DE's services for a full season.

Huddle Up: It's hard to envision the Panthers flat-out waiving the DE, who tied the franchise single-season sack record with 15 last year, but a team- or league-mandated suspension is pretty much a certainty if Hardy's guilty verdict stands after his appeal is heard.

Huddle Up: Any NFL penalties likely will wait until after the appeal is heard. And that appeal now is almost sure to cut into the season for the Pro Bowl DE -- not good news for the Panthers or Hardy's IDP owners.

Huddle Up: Hardy's career year (15 sacks, 65 total tackles) was a big reason why the Panthers' D made the jump to No. 2 in the league in both points and yards allowed in 2013, but Tuesday's lurid testimony is another reminder why the team franchise-tagged the DE instead of putting more effort into working out a long-term deal.

Huddle Up: The Panthers and the league will be watching with interest, and so will IDP league GMs with the DE having finished third in the league in sacks (15) and tied for fifth in tackles for loss (17) a year ago.

Huddle Up: This is just a preliminary report and more details are forthcoming, but this isn't exactly the offseason headline the Panthers wanted to see from their franchise-tag DE, who recorded a career-high 15 sacks this past season. See what develops here.

Huddle Up: With step No. 1 done, the Panthers now are looking to lock up Hardy for seasons to come with a long-term deal for the DE, whose sack totals have increased in each of his 4 seasons in Carolina.

Huddle Up: No surprise here, as Hardy is a valuable component of the Carolina defense.

Huddle Up: Hardy, who just completed his 4th season, finished third in the league with a career-high 15 sacks and is in line for a big contact, whether he remains in Carolina or not.

Huddle Up: Hardy wrapped up the regular season with a monster performance (4 sacks, 8 total QB hits) vs. the Falcons, and his health will be vital in a toss-up divisional-round game vs. the Niners. He should be good to go by Sunday, but monitor his progress the rest of the week.
