Carolina Panthers WR David Gettis (hamstring) said he is getting closer to practice and hopes to get some playing time during the preseason.

Huddle Up: Gettis missed all last season with a torn ACL, so the balky hamstring is no surprise. Still, the Panthers were hoping to see something out of Gettis this preseason and have the third-year wideout challenge Brandon LaFell for the starting position opposite Steve Smith.

Carolina Panthers WR David Gettis (knee) said he has been taking the rehab from his torn anterior cruciate ligament slowly this offseason because he wants to be careful with the injury. He does believe he will be able to go full speed once training camp begins.

Huddle Up: Gettis is vying for the No. 2 WR spot but Brandon LaFell is in the driver's seat right now.
