The New England Patriots have signed free-agent WR Donald Jones to an undisclosed deal.
Huddle Up: The former Bill didn't exactly distinguish himself as Stevie Johnson's running mate in Buffalo, but he'll get an opportunity to tweak his old team twice a year as a target for Tom Brady.

Free-agent WR Donald Jones said he was surprised that the Buffalo Bills did not tender him an offer but it will give him a chance to join another team. 'It was pretty upsetting to get the call today,' Jones said. 'It kind of was a shock. But it is what it is. Now me and my family will move forward to another team and hopefully I get to play against the Bills.'
Huddle Up: Jones had a career season in 2012 (41-443-4) and has improved his numbers in each of his 3 seasons, but it obviously wasn't enough for the Bills, who will be in the market for another starter opposite Steve Johnson.

With the Buffalo Bills signing RB Johnny White, it more clearly defines the roles of the wide receivers on the roster. With how practices went in the offseason, it appears that WR Donald Jones has the inside track to get the most reps at the slot wide receiver position after the season-ending injury to David Nelson (knee) in Week 1.
Huddle Up: Jones already is off to solid fantasy start with his 5 receptions for 41 yards and a TD in Week 1, and he definitely belongs on a roster in every league.

Buffalo Bills WR Donald Jones had performed well during training camp and
continues to hold onto the starting wide receiver spot opposite WR Stevie
Johnson.
Huddle Up: Good for Jones -- for now -- but this is definitely something to keep an eye on
during the preseason as Buffalo is looking for another receiving threat to establish
himself opposite Steve Johnson. Jones was KO'd by a season-ending ankle injury
in Week 11 last year, and finished with only 23 catches for 231 yards and a TD.

Buffalo Bills WR Donald Jones said he is preparing as if he will emerge as the team's No. 2 wide receiver this upcoming season. 'I feel like I have something to prove every season, but definitely this year,' Jones said. 'In my eyes I am the No. 2 receiver. I'll conduct myself in that manner.'
Huddle Up: Jones had one big game last year in Week 3 (10 targets, 5 catches, 101 yards) but missed seven of the last eight games with a left ankle sprain. David Nelson performed nicely in his absence, but the fact is that Jones is who they want at split end. Nelson is a slot guy.
