Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said he was not happy with the play of QBs Thaddeus Lewis and Jeff Tuel during the second preseason game. Lewis went 1-for-6 for 18 yards and an interception, while Tuel went 5-for-9 for 48 yards and a fumble. The competition for the No. 2 quarterback job is still considered open.

Huddle Up: Not a good situation for the Bills' pass-catchers if starter EJ Manuel underperforms or gets hurt again this season.

Buffalo Bills QB Thaddeus Lewis (ribs) was limited in practice Friday, Nov. 1, but is listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. QBs Jeff Tuel or Matt Flynn will start if Lewis doesn't play. Tuel received most of the first-team repetitions in practice this week in Lewis' absence. 'It's a point of the soreness of the ribs,' head coach Doug Marrone said. 'Really just being able to turn and throw. That's the one thing that's holding him back. If he can get by that, then he will be able to play.' Lewis worked on footwork ant timing Friday but did not throw any passes.

Huddle Up: It's a stretch that the battered Lewis will see the field. In the meantime, it looks like it'll be Tuel time in Orchard Park on Sunday -- more good fortune for the K.C. defense which has faced a string of second- and third string QBs (Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum and Jason Campbell) already this season.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills QB Thaddeus Lewis (illness, ribs) is expected to play in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs despite missing practice due to illness and an injury to his ribs, according to a league source. It is uncertain whether he'll be able to practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Huddle Up: The Bills are desperately thin at quarterback with E.J. Manuel still recovering from a knee injury. If Lewis can't play, the Bills will be forced to start Matt Flynn or Jeff Tuel against the tough Chiefs' defense.

Buffalo Bills QB Thaddeus Lewis (foot) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 17.

Huddle Up: That's 2 straight days of full workouts for Lewis, it's going to take a serious late- week setback for him not to start Sunday in Miami.

Buffalo Bills QB Thaddeus Lewis (foot) is working with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, Oct. 16, and appears to be moving around well on his injured foot.

Huddle Up: Lewis provides the most upside in that Bills offense, so hopefully he is the starter for the sake of Robert Woods and Steve Johnson.

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said QB Thaddeus Lewis (foot) is considered day-to-day after an MRI and X-rays on his foot came back negative.

Huddle Up: It will be interesting to see what the Bills do this week given his performance against the Bengals. He certainly provides the most upside of anyone currently healthy. If he sits, downgrade everyone else on that offense.

Buffalo Bills QB Thaddeus Lewis has a mild foot sprain, but no ligament damage. He is day to day.

Huddle Up: The Bills are treating quarterbacks like Spinal Tap treats drummers. They've even gone so far as to kick the tires on Matt Flynn. Doesn't bode well for the fantasy prospects of Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods.
