Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker remains the starting quarterback, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Sunday, Sept. 21, that he never considered benching Locker despite a lopsided loss in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He said Locker is his quarterback, and the coach will be patient with him.

Huddle Up: Locker has been awful the last two weeks. If Tennessee's backup wasn't Charlie Whitehurst, Locker would be on a much shorter leash. He hasn't shown much so far in his NFL career.

Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt is looking to make QB Jake Locker a pocket passer in his offense even though mobility is one of Locker's strengths. The team will still use rollouts and bootlegs at times but most of Locker's passes will come out of the pocket. Whisenhunt has been happy with how well Locker has picked up the offense this offseason. 'Jake works hard,' Whisenhunt said. 'He's done a great job as far as studying the offense and understanding his reads. He's really done a good job with a lot of little things -- his footwork, his techniques.'

Huddle Up: Whisenhunt has had offenses run by pocket passers (Philip Rivers, Kurt Warner) in his last 2 coaching stops, but keep in mind Ben Roethlisberger's success using his mobility under Whisenhunt for the first 3 years of his career.

  • Posted: 4/27/2014 9:54pm ET

Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said this upcoming season will be a make-or-break season for QB Jake Locker. Locker is entering the final year of his contract, and the team is does not plan to exercise his fifth-year option.

Huddle Up: Locker did show flashes of improvement last season, but No. 1 on the QB's priority list will be staying healthy as he's nearly missed as many starts (14) as he's made (18) over the last 2 seasons.

  • Posted: 4/4/2014 10:34am ET

The Tennessee Titans are hopeful QB Jake Locker (foot) will take part in on-field work in late May, which is ahead of schedule.

Huddle Up: Getting Locker reps with his new coach and in the Titans' new offense would be a huge step towards the new regime getting off on the right foot--no pun intended.

  • Posted: 3/29/2014 3:46pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) has moved on to a different stage in his rehabilitation and is no longer in a walking boot. Locker is hoping to take part in organized team activities in June. 'Surgery went really well. Foot feels awesome and rehab is up and rolling,' Locker said. 'Doctors were happy with how things looked so (I'm) just continuing to follow that trend.'

Huddle Up: While there's still a big contract deadline looming with Locker, all indications are that the team plans to move forward with him as their franchise quarterback--and that he'll be healthy enough for the Titans to make the necessary evaluation and switch plans if need be.

  • Posted: 2/20/2014 1:36pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker has the support of team president Tommy Smith. Smith thinks head coach Ken Whisenhunt will be good for Locker moving forward. "Absolutely. I do like Jake, and I think Ken is going to be very good for Jake. Jake is a competitor. He is a smart guy. I think he has the ability. He is the quarterback. That's what I have told him every time I see him. And that's the way it is."

Huddle Up: It sounds as if Locker has the full backing of the Titans for now, but he'll open the season with much to prove, including his ability to stay healthy after making only 18 starts over the past 2 seasons.

  • Posted: 1/31/2014 2:45pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) is hopeful to be ready for organized team activities in May. Locker will be working with his third offensive coordinator in four years.

Huddle Up: The Titans have a new coach who needs to see Locker on the field before deciding what direction to go at the quarterback position, plus Locker has a contract that calls for a decision on an extension prior to his expected return to the field. Should make for an interesting offseason in Tennessee.

  • Posted: 1/15/2014 10:20am ET

Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster indicated Tuesday, Jan. 14, that the club plans to give QB Jake Locker another chance to prove himself. He remains under contract through 2014, but the team must decide by May if they're going to pick up an option for 2015. 'I think that's something we'll continue to discuss and go through,' Webster said. 'But I would anticipate Jake having a good chance to do that.'

Huddle Up: Tough to see the Titans committing to a contract extension based on the limited body of work Locker has put together. Plus he'll have a new coach calling the shots, and new coaches tend to prefer their own guy at the helm. But maybe the marriage of Locker and Ken Whisenhunt will take root quickly; let the courtship begin.

  • Posted: 11/14/2013 7:54pm ET

The Tennessee Titans are currently unsure if they will proceed with QB Jake Locker as their franchise quarterback, given his checkered injury history.

Huddle Up: The Titans definitely have a tough decision on their hands as Locker has put some break-out numbers this season but as of Thursday night is missing eighth start since the beginning of last season.

  • Posted: 11/13/2013 10:53am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) is going to need surgery for his Lisfranc injury, according to a source. The surgery has not yet taken place, however.

Huddle Up: The Titans have already ruled Locker out for the season, so there's no rush on the surgery. He'll have the offseason to rehab, but the Titans have a decision to make whether or not to sign on long-term with Locker as their franchise QB or look for a replacement in the draft or free agency.

  • Posted: 11/11/2013 12:20pm ET

The Tennessee Titans are 99 percent certain QB Jake Locker's (foot) season is over.

Huddle Up: Locker is believed to have suffered a Lisfranc injury that will end his 2013 season. Ryan Fitzpatrick will again step into the Titans' starting quarterback gig, which doesn't necessarily mean good things for anyone's fantasy stats--except perhaps those defense who face Tennessee.

  • Posted: 11/10/2013 11:49pm ET

Updating a previous report, early indications are that Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) suffered a season-ending foot injury in the Week 10 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to sources, the team believes he has a Lisfranc injury in the right foot, and more tests are being administered. Surgery is a possibility.

Huddle Up: This is a big blow for Locker—who was having a breakout season of sorts—and the Titans. Drop him.

  • Posted: 10/31/2013 1:29pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (knee, hip) is still wearing a brace on his knee, but is moving better than he did prior to the team's bye week. "I just feel a lot more confident," Locker said.

Huddle Up: Many fantasy GMs will be turning to Locker this week with 6 teams on bye and they should feel confident as the QB has thrown for a combined 5 TDs in his past 2 starts.

  • Posted: 10/19/2013 12:13pm ET

The Tennessee Titans expect QB Jake Locker (hip, knee) to start at quarterback Week 7 unless he suffers a setback.

Huddle Up: Locker doesn't have any fantasy value other than in really deep two-quarterback leagues right now but it's a good sign that he was able to come back so quickly. He has a tough match-up this week against San Francisco.

  • Posted: 10/16/2013 12:20am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (hip) will begin 'football activities' this week, according to head coach Mike Munchak. There is a chance that Locker could return in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers, but it is unlikely. RB Shonn Greene (knee) is also expected to ramp up his activities this week.

Huddle Up: Definitely don't count on seeing Locker return this week. The Titans have a bye in Week 8, so circle Week 9 matchup with the Rams as the QB's probable return date.

  • Posted: 10/14/2013 3:49pm ET

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said QB Jake Locker (hip, knee) will increase his rehab work and football activities but still has a long way to go before being available to play Week 7.

Huddle Up: Hopefully he's close to returning, both for Tennessee's sake and the sake of his skill players. Once he does, guys like Justin Hunter and Kendall Wright get a nice boost.

  • Posted: 10/2/2013 9:38am ET

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker will miss four to six weeks with hip and knee sprains.

Huddle Up: That's good news considering how awful the hip injury looked when it happened. The Titans are decently situation with Ryan Fitzpatrick taking over while Locker is out, but they were only carrying two quarterbacks on their active roster so they're in scramble mode looking for a backup.

  • Posted: 10/1/2013 3:51pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (hip, knee) was diagnosed with a sprained hip and sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee Tuesday, Oct. 1, but it should only keep him out for a few weeks. 'The area will need time to heal and strengthen, but he won't require surgery and he has already begun a rehab routine for both his hip and knee. We certainly would expect him to miss a few weeks, but we are encouraged by the news today,' the team said in a statement.

Huddle Up: Locker received excellent news today after worries that his hip injury was career-threatening. Hopefully he will be back after the team's Week 8 bye.

  • Posted: 9/30/2013 3:38pm ET

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said there is no timetable for when QB Jake Locker (hip, knee) will be able to return. Locker is scheduled to undergo another MRI Tuesday, Oct. 1, to determine the extent of the hip injury. Munchak said Locker's injury is not season-ending. Locker also suffered a medial collater ligament sprain during the game.

Huddle Up: This is great news for Locker, who was rumored to have a career-ending injury late last night. Hopefully he will be back sooner than later, as he was having a great start to the 2013 season.

  • Posted: 9/30/2013 1:50pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (hip) is likely heading to short-term Injured Reserve with a designation to return due to the hip injury suffered in the team's Week 4 game.

Huddle Up: This is a real tough break for Locker, who had been playing great thus far this season. This could be a blow to the receiving corps from a fantasy perspective, but Ryan Fitzpatrick did have a long touchdown pass after Locker left the game.

  • Posted: 9/30/2013 9:45am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker will have more tests done, but the belief is he could miss four to eight weeks.

Huddle Up: Locker suffered a hip injury in Week 4, one serious enough that he was taken from the field on a backboard. Ryan Fitzpatrick filled in Sunday and will continue to quarterback the Titans in Locker's absence.
