The Houston Texans have officially exercised the fifth-year option in DE J.J. Watt's contract.

Huddle Up: Here's a no-brainer as the Texans brace for the coming big-bucks extension for the ultra-talented DE who has an eye-popping 36.5 sacks, 27 passes defensed and 8 forced fumbles in 48 career games.

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract, and the Texans are getting closer to being forced to make a decision about the star defensive lineman's future. The team has the ability to pick up the team option for a fifth year. The team does not Watt to reach free agency.

Huddle Up: The Texans have options, including picking up Watt's option and/or using the franchise tag. Even more than deciding who they'll pick with the first selection in the draft, locking up Watt might be the team's top priority.

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt (nose) is likely to have plastic surgery in the offseason to fix a deep gash on the bridge of his nose that continues to be reopened every time he plays. The initial injury occurred in Week 4 and required six stitches. Watt said it is 'very painful' each time he gets hit. He used a different helmet in Week 16 and plans to stick with it for the regular season finale. "Once it gets time to heal up and rest, it goes back to pretty normal,' he said. 'We'll see what happens. If it doesn't heal itself, then I will look into getting it fixed."

Huddle Up: Watt has had a productive season with 9.5 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss but nothing approaching his monster 2012 season (20.5 sacks, 42 TFLs).

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt said he wants to record 20 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and 20 batted passes this season.

Huddle Up: The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has 20-20-20 vision -- numbers that would be a sight to behold for his owners in IDP leagues.

The Houston Texans are considering using DE J.J. Watt on their goal-line offense. 'We might let him in there at some point,' head coach Gary Kubiak said. 'But it's not going to be anytime soon.'

Huddle Up: Watt may steal a touchdown from Owen Daniels, but he's far too valuable on defense to spend a great deal of time moonlighting on offense. However, if you can convince the Texans fan in your league that Watt is worthy of a late-round flier as a tight end...

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt is going back to wearing the brace on his left elbow. He was limited in practice due to soreness Sunday, Aug. 4.

Huddle Up: Watt had an okay season in 2012 wearing the brace, so him wearing it again should be of no concern to IDP fantasy owners.

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt checked in at organized team activities (OTAs) this past week at 288 pounds, down seven pounds from his weight of 295 last year.

Huddle Up: Offensive linemen had hoped to hear the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year had dropped a few inches off his 6-5 frame after swatting down 16 passes in 2012, but no such luck.
