Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said Tuesday, March 5, in a radio interview that QB Andy Dalton needs to improve in every phase, specifically his deep accuracy and touch. 'He's got a long way to go,' Gruden said. 'He's done some great things for a second-year quarterback, won a lot of games and thrown some good touchdown passes, but we feel like he has not come close to his potential. That's our job to get it out of him.'

Huddle Up: Dalton was a borderline starter in 10- and 12-team leagues last season, finishing 12th among fantasy QBs (Huddle Performance scoring). Dalton did tie for 7th with 27 TD passes and could see his fantasy stock rise if the Bengals complement WR A.J. Green and TE Jermaine Gresham by adding another weapon to the QB's arsenal this offseason.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is just 3-7 against the AFC North division, with all three of his victories coming against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: It's a fantasy concern as well as Dalton faces the Steelers and Ravens over the season's final 2 weeks. In the first 2 meetings with those clubs, Dalton twas limited to a combined 326 passing yards, TD and 2 interceptions.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton said he feels no extra pressure to become more of a vocal leader. Head coach Marvin Lewis said he wanted Dalton and LB Rey Maualuga to become more fiery. 'I don't feel any pressure,' Dalton said. 'What it comes down to is me being me, and hopefully doing enough that it's gonna satisfy him ... (Lewis) believes in us. Nothing that he's doubting us or anything like that. It's a challenge. We're where we are. Nothing we can do about it right now. We'll just improve and get better.'

Huddle Up: Dalton and A.J. Green have again shown a special chemistry this season, but the Cincy QB has thrown an interception in every game this season, including 6 in his past 3, and has been held under 250 yards in 3 of his past 4 outings. Those aren't the kind of trends you want to see at this stage of the season from your fantasy QB.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (arm) suffered a bruised arm in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 30, and will not return.

Huddle Up: Sounds like nothing to worry about, but it definitely threw a scare into the Bengals and their fans, and it no doubt hastened Dalton's departure from the game. Dalton, entering his second season, is a borderline fantasy starter in 12-team leagues.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton and the starting offense struggled in a preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers Thursday, Aug. 23. Dalton and the team's starters played into the third quarter but couldn't get into the end zone. He finished 5 of 17 for 40 yards and was sacked twice. Dalton led the team in rushing, scrambling three times for 36 yards.

Huddle Up: You would have hoped to see more from Dalton, given it's the third preseason game. The Bengals may ask their starters to play a series or two in the final exhibition tilt just to get back on track, but there's no need to hit the panic button; Dalton still has A.J. Green to throw to, and he remains a quality fantasy backup with fantasy starter upside.
