Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 29-of-51 passes for 334 yards, a TD and an interception Sunday, Jan. 5 in a 27-10 wild-card playoff loss to the San Diego Chargers. Dalton also had 5 carries for 26 yards and a lost a fumble.

Huddle Up: His 334 passing yards were more than double the total (128) posted by winning QB Philip Rivers (128), but the up-and-down Dalton ended the season on a downer for the third straight season and is now 0-3 in the playoffs with 1 TD pass and 7 turnovers (6 picks & a fumble). Dalton is heading into his fourth season and is up for a contract extension, but his bad moments have outnumbered his good, especially when it comes to the games that have mattered most.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is confident in the midst of a rough three-game stretch. 'I'm confident as ever,' Dalton said. 'You have to have confidence. For us, as a team, we feel like we're in control of everything and that's where we want to be at this point.' He had three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns in Week 11 but compiled only 93 yards passing for a 48.1 percent completion rating, a 62.7 passer rating and a career-low 3.7 QBR.

Huddle Up: Despite the 3-TD outing Sunday, Dalton has an ugly 5-8 TD/interception ratio over the past 3 games and is averaging 235 passing yards per outing over that span. Cincy finally gets its bye this week, but Dalton has some favorable fantasy matchups upcoming, including games against the Chargers and Vikings.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 32-of-53 passes for 338 yards, 0 TDs and 3 interceptions Thursday, Oct. 31 in a 22-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Dalton also lost a fumble.

Huddle Up: Dalton, the October AFC Player of the Month, entered the game having thrown for 11 TDs and only 2 picks over his previous 3 games, but it was an unwelcome reversal of fortune Thursday night as he failed to toss a TD pass and turned the ball over 4 times, including a pick-six in the third quarter that gave the Dolphins a 17-3 lead. They'll be be better days ahead for Dalton, but this was a not-so-subtle reminder that he doesn't rank among the elite fantasy QBs just yet.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton was given the day off by head coach Marvin Lewis Monday, Aug. 19.

Huddle Up: Sounds like a well-deserved break for the QB, who went 9-of-14 for 115 yards and a TD this past weekend in the Bengals' 27-19 exhibition win over the Titans.

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green praised QB Andy Dalton, and said that 2013 is not a make-or-break year for him. 'I don't feel like it's a make-or-break year for him,' Green said. 'He's still the quarterback of the future because he has every intangible to be a great one. He works hard, he has great leadership. I think he'll be fine.' 'You look at Tom Brady and all the best quarterbacks in the league, it takes four or five years for them to really get in a groove,' Green said. 'Aaron Rodgers sat behind (Brett) Favre for years. (The criticism) comes with the territory.'

Huddle Up: While Dalton isn't the flashiest of QBs or fantasy players, he is 19-13 in his 2 years as a starter, leading the Bengals to the postseason both seasons. In 2012, he made improvements in almost every one of his key stats, aside from interceptions (an increase from 13 to 16). If he's able to make similar gains again in 2013, he'll be a 4,000-yard, 35-TD passer. Not bad in fantasy -- or reality.
