San Francisco 49ers WR A.J. Jenkins is expected to join QB Colin Kaepernick for offseason workouts as he looks to improve his overall game. "Obviously, I want to contribute a lot more than I have been," Jenkins said. "So I'm going to make that happen and come back bigger, faster, stronger." Jenkins only was active for three games in the regular season. He was in uniform during the playoffs but had no passes thrown his way, and he played three snaps in Super Bowl XLVII.

Huddle Up: It was essentially a lost season for the 49ers' first-round pick, but with Randy Moss on the downslope of his career and Mario Manningham coming off a serious knee injury more will be expected of Jenkins in 2013. Working with the starting QB is a step in the right direction, though it's far too early to throw a "fantasy sleeper" tag on the third passing-game option of a run-first team.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was 16-of-28 for 302 yards, a TD and an interception to go along with 62 rushing yards and a TD on 7 carries in the team's 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Huddle Up: Much like his preceeding 2 postseason games, Kaepernick started slow, throwing a costly second-quarter interception, but the second-year QB bounced back strong and nearly rallied his team from a 22-point deficit. Kaepernick definitely did nothing but validate Jim Harbaugh's controversial in-season QB switch and his fantasy future is glowing with his potent combo of passing/rushing skills.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has thrown for 230-plus yards in each of his last four games, the longest streak by a 49ers quarterback since 2004.

Huddle Up: Take note, Ravens as well as all of those who tend to focus only on the QB's rushing stats.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has applied to trademark 'Kaepernicking,' the quarterback's touchdown celebration in which he kisses his bicep.

Huddle Up: If Kaepernick keeps up the pace, and the Niners keep winning games, Kaepernicking even has the possibility of leaving Tebowing in the dust.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick dominated against the Green Bay Packers in the team's NFC divisional win Saturday, Jan. 12. He ran for 181 yards, which is an NFL quarterback record, and had two rushing touchdowns. He also threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns with an interception that was returned for a touchdown. On the evening, the 49ers piled on 579 yards of offense, with 323 yards coming from the running game. He rushed for 107 yards on 11 carries during the first half alone. Kaepernick said the team's offensive line did an amazing job during the game.

Huddle Up: Everyone wanted to see what Kaepernick would bring to the table in his first playoff start, and he delivered a buffet in scorching the Packers, a trendy upset pick. Even should the QB and the Niners fail to reach the Super Bowl, Kaepernick will be among the hottest fantasy QB draft prospects next summer.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh made it seem as those the team will stick with QB Colin Kaepernick heading into Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. 'I will let you know if there's a change,' Harbaugh said. 'But right now, I feel as if (the starter vs. Miami) it would be the same this week. And I'm proud of Kap - proud of the way he played. He did some things, some really good things, under a lot of heat and duress and handled himself well, gave our team a chance to win.'

Huddle Up: Keapernick lost his luster when he faced the Rams for the second time in three weeks. The Dolphins won't be quite as prepared as the Rams were the second time around however. so a bounceback might be in the cards.

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh on Wednesday announced that Colin Kaepernick will be the team's starting QB in Week 13 at St. Louis.

Huddle Up: Barring injury, it appears Kaepernick will be the team's starter for the remainder of the season, and if for some reason you haven't already, fantasy GMs need to get on board. In the past two and half games since Alex Smith suffered a concussion, Kaepernick has thrown for 591 yards and three TDs while rushing for 103 yards and 2 more scores.

There are conflicting reports whether San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick will start the team's Week 12 game; however, according to a league source, Kaepernick has only been told that he'll get first-team reps in practice. It is still possible QB Alex Smith has been told by head coach Jim Harbaugh that Kaepernick will start; however, Kaepernick has yet to receive that specific piece of news.

Huddle Up: Most signs point toward Kaepernick starting, and a lot of the other stuff reeks of a smokescreen to keep the opposing Saints guessing this week.

Posted: 11/19/2012 11:57pm et

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed 16-of-23 passes for 243 yards and a pair of TDs and added 12 rushing yards on 4 carries Monday night in the Niners' 32-7 Week 11 rout of the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Kaepernick got the official starting nod earlier Monday when it was announced that starter Alex Smith wasn't cleared to return after suffering a Week 10 concussion, and the second-year QB exceeded all expectations against a formidable Bears defense. He was on-target from the start and wound up connecting with TE Vernon Davis and WR Michael Crabtree on his two TD tosses. He did not turn the ball over and definitely outplayed -- and received much better protection -- than veteran countetpart Jason Campbell, who started for the Bears in place of the recovering Jay Cutler (concussion).

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has won the backup job behind starting QB Alex Smith, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Huddle Up: No surprise here, as many were figuring Kaepernick had a shot to win the starting job as a second-round pick last year. Kaepernick beat out free-agent pickup Josh Josh Johnson this preason and will be at the ready should starter Alex Smith go down.

Posted: 8/6/2012 11:17pm et

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said QB Colin Kaepernick will be the second quarterback to enter the game in their first preseason game Friday, Aug. 10.

Huddle Up: Kaepernick simply is looking to show what he can do after seeing only 7 plays of regular-season action a year ago. The 2011 early second-round pick out of Nevada completed 3-of-5 passes for 35 yards in a Week 4 game against Tampa Bay and took snaps in two other contests. Alex Smith enters the season entrenched as the starter, while Kaepernick is battling to hold off free-agent acquisition Josh Johnson for the backup slot.
