Huddle Up: Despite the issue, Kaepernick finished with the fourth-most rushing yards (524) among all QBs last season and he figures to be right up there again this fall -- a key component of his QB1 rank in almost all leagues.

Huddle Up: Nice money for Kaepernick, as the 49ers lock him in for the next half-dozen years. Makes it easier for the Niners to plan out their offense going forward.

Huddle Up: Kaepernick ranked as a borderline (12th ranked) starting fantasy QB last season, thanks largely to his rushing numbers (524 yards, 4 TDs). It's his passing stats (3,197 yards, 21 TDs) which will definitely need a boost if he's to follow through on Harbaugh's hopes.

Huddle Up: The Niners put the brakes on extension talks when Kaepernick was linked to an off-the-field incident, but nothing much has come of the incident so look for the team to return to the bargaining table with their franchise quarterback.

Huddle Up: The Niners are having a busy offseason, and not in a good way. All indications are that Kaepernick's name will be cleared regarding the Miami incident, but the 49ers front office will let the situation run its course before committing a bunch of money to their quarterback of the future.

Huddle Up: This isn't the way Kaepernick wants to be in the news, especially with the 49ers looking to sign him to a contract extension. The league will let the legal system run its course before getting involved with any discipline, so for now at least there's no imminent danger of Kaepernick missing time.

Huddle Up: It's a rather curious but obviously potentially serious incident and with the investigation only in the beginning stages, it's way too early on speculate on things.

Huddle Up: Those aren't bad comparisons for Kaepernick's agent to make. We'll find out soon if the 49ers agree.

Huddle Up: Never too early to lock up your franchise quarterback... unless, of course, the plan is to package Kaepernick with Jim Harbaugh in a deal with Cleveland.

Huddle Up: Kaepernick is heading into the final season of a 4-year, $5.1 million rookie deal so look for something to get done sooner rather than later.

Huddle Up: Hey, Super Sherman has bragging rights, and Kaepernick and Co. are going to have to wait until next season to get another crack at the CB. In short, the matchups between the two NFC West rivals will be 2 of the most anticipated contests on the 2014 schedule, and if the the Seahawks win on Sunday, the Hawks-Niners Seattle matchup would be a prime candidate to open the season on Thursday night.

Huddle Up: The differing styles in the AFC and NFC title games makes for a fascinating Championship Sunday, and it'll be even more intriguing to see which wins out in the Super Bowl.

Huddle Up: Shockingly, only 6 QBs overall since 1960 -- Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Roger Staubach, Delhomme, Mark Sanchez and Len Dawson -- have more road postseason wins than Kaepernick, but it's going to be tough for the QB to add to his total Sunday in Seattle, where he's 0-2 as a starter and his team has been outscored, 71-16 in the two games.
Posted: 1/12/2014 10:49pm ET
Huddle Up: In only 2 seasons, Kaepernick is 4-1 in the playoffs with three of the wins coming on the road. He's tossed 6 TD passes and only 2 interceptions in the 5 games and has 4 rushing TDs and averaged 75.4 rushing yards per outing.

Huddle Up: The Packers have simply been at a loss defending Kaepernick, who rushed for a career-high 181 yards in a playoff win a year ago and threw for a career-high 412 yards in a Week 1 win to open this season. On Sunday, it was a little of both as the Niners beat the Pack for the 4th straight time and advanced to the divisional round.

Huddle Up: Kaepernick topped 200 passing yards for the first time in 5 games and he had his best fantasy passing game since his 412-yard, 3-TD Week 1 outing. Maybe all it took was matchup against the leaky Skins defense, and hopefully most of his fantasy owners were able to take advantage.
Posted: 10/22/2013 8:11pm ET
Huddle Up: Kaepernick's 68 rushing yards were his second-highest total of the season and his rushing TD was his first of year. That alone will increase Kaepernick's fantasy production, and it should also open more passing lanes for the QB, who has only eclipsed the 200- passing-yard mark once since his 412-yard season opener.

Huddle Up: Yeah, we know these numbers aren't why you reached in drafts to select the much-hyped Niners QB but they're sure a lot prettier than 277 yards, 0 TDs and 4 interceptions -- Kaepernick's totals from the previous 2 weeks. Take it as a sign that the young QB is coming back around.

Huddle Up: It was ugly. Kaepernick probably missed Vernon Davis, and the 49ers did him no favors by abandoning the run after initial success. We thought he would bounce back in a big way against the Colts, who don't have a great defense. He is a good buy-low candidate right now.
Posted: 9/19/2013 1:02pm ET
Huddle Up: Kaepernick no doubt also has some injured pride after a woeful fantasy showing on the road last week against the Seattle D, but look for him to bounce back strong against the visiting Colts this Sunday.
Posted: 9/16/2013 2:32pm ET
Huddle Up: The Colts will be some sugar this week after the medicine Seattle gave Kaepernick last night. Buy low if you can.
Posted: 9/15/2013 5:27pm ET
Huddle Up: All the better for the 49ers, who dodged a bullet there. The Eagles are doing alright with Michael Vick, for now.
Posted: 9/5/2013 2:54pm ET
Huddle Up: Kaepernick has been the seventh QB selected in drafts on average this summer and as long as he keeps producing on the ground, they won't mind his completion percentage doesn't improve from his 62-percent clip of 2012.
