Huddle Up: Williams is battling Joseph Randle for a roster spot. Despite the fact that Randle was underwhelming when given an opportunity last season, he appears to have the edge over Williams. The former Virgina Tech star could be nearing the end of an injury-riddled career if he gets cut by the Cowboys.

Huddle Up: In other words, we're talking nothing to lose for the 'Boys and incentives to the max for the 2011 2nd-round pick, who simply has been unable to gain any kind of health traction, missing all but 5 games in his first 3 pro seasons.

Huddle Up: Things obviously didn't work out for Williams in the desert with only 5 games played and 164 rushing yards in 3 seasons, but there's little risk for the Cowboys in kicking the tires of the former second-round pick.

Huddle Up: The often-injured 2011 2nd-round pick's' 3-year run in the desert netted 3 starts and 58 carries for 164 yards.

Huddle Up: Williams' injury history suggests that even if he does get a shot he can't be banked on. The Cardinals found other backfield options last season in Andre Ellington and Stepfan Taylor, so Williams will be competing for a backup gig at best.

Huddle Up: The star-crossed career for the 2011 2nd-round pick continues as Williams has only played in 5 games in 3 seasons. Barring a drastic reversal of fortune over the final 12 weeks, a change of scenery looks to be Williams' only chance of making something out of his NFL tenure.

Huddle Up: The star-crossed career of the Cards' 2011 2nd-round pick continues as he's now played in only 5 out of a possible 33 games in his career.

Huddle Up: Williams has had trouble staying on the field throughout his NFL career, including this preseason. When healthy he'll battle Rashard Mendenhall for carries; the trick for him is that there hasn't been a whole lot of "when healthy" time.

Huddle Up: Williams hasn't been able to stay healthy long enough to make an impression in Arizona. Meanwhile, Rashard Mendenhall is the Cardinals' starter, with Stepfan Taylor making a push for playing time as well.

Huddle Up: Don't tell Williams the preseason doesn't mean anything as the oft-injured 3rd-year back is fighting for his place on the revamped Arizona RB depth chart. He needs to not only get on the field Saturday, but he needs to show the new coaching staff something when he does.

Huddle Up: The gauntlet has been laid down by the Cards' coach, who must be noted, wasn't around when the team spent a 2nd-round pick on the oft-injured Williams in 2011. And with the team drafting Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington in April, there's a lot less wiggle room now for Williams, who has yet to play this preseason.

Huddle Up: The star-crossed Williams has played in 5 games in 2 seasons, and that's a big reason why the Cards signed free-agent Rashard Mendenhall and drafted Stepfan Taylor (5th round) and Andre Ellington (6th). Mendenhall is projected to start, and if Williams continues to have trouble staying on the practice field, look for Taylor and/or Ellington to bypass him on the depth chart.
