New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (groin) appears to have a good chance to play in the Divisional Round playoff game.

Huddle Up: Definitely expect to see Vereen, who's been a limited participant in practice all week.

Posted: 12/28/2013 12:58pm et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (groin) could be inactive for the team's Week 17 game so he can get an extra week of rest for his injured groin.

Huddle Up: Vereen will likely be held for the playoffs, which means Stevan Ridley and LeGarrette Blount will split carries against Buffalo's porous rush defense. Both make for solid flex plays this week, as each player could find the end zone.

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 27, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Vereen has been limited the past 2 days in practice and appears headed for a game-time decision. Check the Huddle's Game-Day Inactives. Injury and Weather report Sunday for the final green or red light.

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (groin) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.

Huddle Up: Vereen's Week 17 status remains very much up in the air, so see what the RB can do Friday and brace for a game-time decision Sunday.

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (groin) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Huddle Up: Vereen is likely headed for a game-time decision. He's killed fantasy owners the last two weeks and now Vereen is highly questionable. Leave him on your bench regardless if he plays or not.

Posted: 12/24/2013 5:57pm et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (groin) participated in the team's walkthrough Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Huddle Up: Vereen had to exit in 2nd quarter of the Pats' Week 16 win and would seem iffy for Week 17, but see what develops later this week in practice.

Posted: 12/9/2013 1:35am et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen carried three times for nine yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, and he added 12 receptions for a career-high 153 yards.

Huddle Up: He should mitigate the loss of Rob Gronkowski. Vereen is PPR gold.

Posted: 11/19/2013 12:38am et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen rushed only 1 time for 7 yards but caught a game-high 8 passes for 65 yards on Monday, Nov. 18 in a 24-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: So much for the reports that Vereen would be "eased" back into action in his return from a broken wrist as he was targeted a game-high 11 times as the focal point of the Pats' passing game. He now has 15 receptions in 2 games this season and is a must-start in PPR leagues.

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (wrist), who will be activated from the short-term Injured Reserve in time for the team's Week 11 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, will be eased back into the game plan, according to a source. Vereen rushed for a career-high 101 yards in Week 1.

Huddle Up: In case you were waiting to see if he was starting, go ahead and insert him into your lineups. We have no idea what "eased" means, though, so start him at your own risk.

Posted: 11/14/2013 4:48pm et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (wrist) was on the practice field Thursday, Nov. 14, and is gradually increasing his workload in practice. "It's good to have him back on the field," coach Bill Belichick said Thursday before practice. "This will really be an opportunity for us to evaluate this week kind of where he is, give him some harder assignments and see how he's doing. He's been able to be active and participate but I'd say it will be a higher level competition for him this week on the practice field. As it should be, gradually escalate the intensity of it and see how it goes."

Huddle Up: Vereen remains a question mark for Week 11, and Steven Ridley's fantasy owners in particular are bracing for more N.E. backfield chaos. Vereen, though, will have the most impact as a pass-catcher, giving Tom Brady's fantasy stock a nudge.

Posted: 11/11/2013 10:24pm et

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said RB Shane Vereen (wrist) will have a role when he is activated from the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list but is not sure when Vereen will be able to return. 'As soon as he is ready and able to help us and we are able to play him, certainly he will have a role in the game. He definitely did make a big impact in game one. I don't know if we can expect him to do that right off the bat in his first game back, whenever that is. We'll look forward to having him back.'

Huddle Up: Vereen hasn't played since the opening week of the season, and while his return will give Tom Brady a valuable pass-catching target, it will also further cloud the Pats' already crowded backfield of Stevan Ridley, Brandon Bolden and LeGarrette Blount.

Posted: 10/17/2013 2:03pm et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (hand) is not wearing a brace or cast on his hand Thursday, Oct. 17.

Huddle Up: Another sign that Vereen is making good progress but he won't muddle the Pats' backfield until at least Week 11 as he's eligible to come off the IR/DTR list Week 9 and the Pats are on bye Week 10.

Posted: 9/10/2013 6:50pm et

The New England Patriots placed RB Shane Vereen (wrist) on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Huddle Up: That means the Pats' leading Week 1 rusher won't be eligible to return until after the Pats' bye in Week 10 -- a tough blow to fantasy GMs who were hoping to have him back in October.

Posted: 9/9/2013 2:11pm et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (wrist) will miss a few weeks after suffering a broken bone in his wrist in Week 1. He will undergo surgery Monday, Sept. 9.

Huddle Up: Just as things were looking up for Vereen, this news hits. Stevan Ridley gets a reprieve from the doghouse as the Patriots have no better options. Of course, Bill Belichick could just troll fantasy owners and give LeGarrette Blount 25 carries this week, but that seems especially cruel.

Posted: 8/3/2013 2:26pm et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen (undisclosed) was in uniform for the team's scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 3, but did not participate in the scrimmage after suffering an undisclosed injury Friday, Aug. 2.

Huddle Up: The Patriots don't say much about injuries but considering Vereen dressed for the scrimmage suggests it's nothing serious. Even with Stevan Ridley handling early down duties, Vereen offers some high upside in PPR formats as the pass catching back in New England's offense.

Posted: 7/6/2013 11:08am et

New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen lined up at wide receiver at times during offseason workouts. The team is looking to isolate Vereen in space against a linebacker.

Huddle Up: Vereen is in line to replace Danny Woodhead as the Patriots' third-down back. Moreover, with the mass departures amongst Tom Brady's receiving corps Bill Belichick is looking to maximize the talent he has on hand; keeping Vereen on the field and finding ways to get the ball in his hands in space would certainly accomplish that mission.
