Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he does not want WR Randall Cobb playing on special teams next season because he will have a bigger role on offense. "Our special teams in a number of areas was about as good as we've played in our time there in Green Bay, and Randall is a big part of that. I hope he's not playing next year. That's really the responsibility of the rest of the skill players in the locker room," McCarthy said.
Huddle Up: If your league awards points for return yardage, Cobb's fantasy value just took a minor hit. However, if not playing special teams frees him up for more work from scrimmage, that hit should be negated by larger receiving (and possibly rushing) numbers.

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (illness) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 10.
Huddle Up: Cobb, who had only 1 catch for 7 yards in the wild-card win over the Vikings, has been battling an ankle issue, but his latest limitations reportedly have been due to a bout with the flu. He should be good to go, though, Saturday night against the Niners.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb said there is no chance he will miss the team's Wild Card playoff game. "100 percent," Cobb said of his chances to play.
Huddle Up: Cobb has battled ankle and knee injuries and missed last week's loss to the Vikings, but he is one of several injured Packers expected to be ready for the rematch this week.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (ankle, knee) is expected to play in the team's Wild Card game Saturday, Jan. 5. Head coach Mike McCarthy, however, said he plans to work both Cobb and WR Jeremy Ross in the return game during practice this week, and he will not make a final determination until game time.
Huddle Up: Although Aaron Rodgers (365 yards, 4 TDs) and the Packers' offense did just fine without Cobb in the regular-season finale, the emerging wideout, who led the team in receiving with 80 catches, 954 yards and 8 TDs, gives the Pack that added play-making dimension.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (ankle, knee) is not active for Week 17.
Huddle Up: The Pack, trying to hold on to the NFC"s No. 2 seed, will have to go without their leading receiver, who will miss his first game of the season.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (ankle, knee) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and is questionable for Week 17.
Huddle Up: Check in on Sunday to see whether Cobb plays or not. With Jordy Nelson returning, the Packers might opt to rest Cobb for the playoffs.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (ankle, knee) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 27.
Huddle Up: Cobb was held out for the second straight day, and the reports are that the Packers' leading receiver will test his ankle and knee Friday to see if he can practice. If not, his fantasy owners need to start making other arrangements.

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (ankle, knee) was limited Wednesday in practice and will be limited again in practice Thursday before he is re-evaluated Friday, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. The team will see how Cobb feels Saturday before deciding on his status for Week 17.
Huddle Up: Cobb came out in the third quarter of the Packers' Week 16 romp and finished with 3 catches, 62 yards and a TD. Cobb has been Aaron Rodgers' top target over the second half of the season, but his fantasy owners are going to have keep abreast of practice reports Friday and Saturday.
Posted: 12/23/2012 4:19pm et
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 16 game and didn't return.
Huddle Up: The game turned into a complete laugher, so who knows if Cobb would've been able to return if really needed. Cobb had 3 catches for 62 yards and a TD before leaving.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 21, and is probable for Week 16.
Huddle Up: Cobb hasn't scored since Week 11, but any pass catcher who's Aaron Rodgers' top target (99, resulting in 77 catches) is a must-start in any league.
Posted: 12/4/2012 10:43pm et
The Green Bay Packers may decide to let WR Jeremy Ross be the alternative kick returner in order to let WR Randall Cobb focus more on his offensive duties. Special teams coach Shawn Slocum said Ross is 'a natural catcher of the ball' and has 'excellent speed and good vision.' 'Let's don't put the cart before the horse,' Slocum said. 'Let the week's progression take its natural course. We'll make those decisions. Randall's our returner and at this point I don't anticipate changing a whole lot.'
Huddle Up: Expect Cobb to handle most of kick returns for now, but his emergence as receiver -- he leads the team in receptions (64) and receiving yards (675) -- has made that priority No. 1 and he figures to play a key role in a number of postseason fantasy runs this month.
Posted: 11/5/2012 7:15pm et
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb has 1,363 all-purpose yards in nine games, including 96 rushing, 500 receiving, 211 on punt returns and 556 on kickoff returns. The club record of 2,250 yards was set in 2003. Cobb is averaging 151.4 per game. At that pace, he would finish with 2,423. New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles owns the NFL record with 2,696 all-purpose yards.
Huddle Up: With Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson in and out of the lineup, Cobb and fellow WR James Jones have emerged as big-time fantasy WR options. The return yardage aside -- which doesn't count in most leagues -- Cobb leads the Pack with 45 receptions and ranks second with 59 targets. He also ranks second with 6 TD receptions, with 5 of them coming over the past 3 weeks.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (hamstring) is inactive for his team's Week 8 contest versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Huddle Up: Cobb looks like a nice play with Nelson out.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb has quieted any doubts about what he can do as a wide receiver over the last few weeks. With WR Greg Jennings (groin) out of the lineup, Cobb's playing time has gone up in recent weeks. He has played in 58 percent of the team's offensive snaps during the past three games. Cobb recorded the first 100-yard receiving game of his young career last week against the Houston Texans and has caught 18 passes for 250 yards in the past three games. QB Aaron Rodgers said Cobb will probably go down as one of the best draft picks by Packers general manager Ted Thompson. Rodgers went on to say that Cobb is 'a personnel and a coach's dream' because he understands the game, knows how to find the soft spots in a defense, is very detailed in his route running, is very intelligent and deliberate about his preparation each week. It isn't clear how the playing time will be distributed amongst the wide receivers upon Jennings' return, but Cobb has shown he's more than capable of being a productive receiver and returner.
Huddle Up: This is great, but Greg Jennings is going to come back eventually. Does that mean Cobb will eat into James Jones' snaps? It would be interesting to see how they utilize Cobb at that point. Cobb stands to have a big game this weekend if Jennings is held out one more week; the Rams figure to put Cortland Finnegan on Jordy Nelson and Janoris Jenkins on james Jones.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) fully participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 22, and is listed as probable for Week 3.
Huddle Up: Good news for Cobb and Aaron Rodgers' fantasy owners. Cobb's production could be limited, though, if fellow WR Greg Jennings (groin) is able to return.
Posted: 9/20/2012 11:37pm et
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 20.
Huddle Up: With fellow wideout Greg Jennings (groin) missing practice Thursday, Aaron Rodgers' receiving corps isn't exactly a picture of health heading into a tough Monday night matchup against the Seahawks. Monitor the situation through the weekend to see if anything improves.
Posted: 9/11/2012 11:38pm et
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy indicated Tuesday, Sept. 11, that WR Randall Cobb might get a chance to run the ball out of the backfield going forward. 'Randall was very productive with his opportunity, exciting player with the ball in his hands, and that's the theory on getting him in the backfield,' McCarthy said.
Huddle Up: The Packers and fantasy owners can certainly find a use for the play-making skills of Cobb, who is one of the most highly sought-after free agents this week after his 9-catch, 77-yard performance in Week 1 that also included a 75-yard punt return for a score.
Posted: 7/9/2012 11:44am et
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb will remain the team's kick returner in 2012, even if he has an increased role on offense.
Huddle Up: Good news for those of you who include return yardage and touchdowns in your fantasy scoring. Cobb is currently battling for the third receiver role in the potent Green Bay offense, and his youth and return game contributions give him a leg up in the competition with Donald Driver and James Jones.
