New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (hamstring), TE Jake Ballard (ankle) and CB Alfonzo Dennard (shoulder) were injured during OTA practice Tuesday, June 4. Ridley pulled up with a right hamstring injury. Ballard hurt his left ankle attempting to make a catch. Both sat out and watched the day's remaining workouts, but a source said both escaped serious injury. Dennard, meanwhile, was carted off after hurting his left shoulder during team drills.
Huddle Up: Minor or major injuries, the offseason ailments continue to add up for the Patriots. The good news is there's still 3 months until the games start counting in the standings, leaving ample time for rest and rehab.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley said he is completely recovered from the concussion he suffered during the playoffs.
Huddle Up: Good news for Ridley, as the league has become cautious with concussions and you never know for certain how long it will be before a player is cleared. Ridley should resume his lead role in the Patriots' RBBC.

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley will not return after leaving the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth quarter due to a head injury.
Huddle Up: Ridley suffered the injury on a violent, helmet-to-helmet collision with Ravens' safety Bernard Pollard and appeared to lose consciousness while also coughing up a crucial fumble. Ridley led the Pats with 70 yards on 18 attempts in the game, but his late-season turnover issues are something he's going to have to get a handle on in a hurry if he's going to continue to start for a Bill Belichick-coached squad.

The New England Patriots coaching staff stayed with RB Stevan Ridley in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite recent fumbling problems. Ridley played the most snaps (35) against the Jaguars, and he finished with 84 yards on 18 carries, and no fumbles.
Huddle Up: This definitely bodes well for Ridley's fantasy value going forward, as previous gaffes had landed him in Bill Belichick's doghouse. He's the workhorse back for the Patriots, the heir to a lucrative fantasy gig once held by BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley has fumbled the football three times the past two games, officially losing two of those fumbles. It is not believed, however, the team has lost confidence in Ridley.
Huddle Up: Ridley has landed in Bill Belichick's doghouse before due to ball security issues, though he did salvage some snaps last week even after putting the ball on the ground. He's already giving up some work to Danny Woodhead and Shane Vereen; now his fantasy owners can add a short leash to their concerns.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley has fumbled in back-to-back games and four times in his past 118 touches going back to last season, covering seven games. 'It's the highest priority with everybody,' head coach Bill Belichick said. 'There's nothing more important than possession of the ball. We can't afford to lose it; it's just as simple as that.' Ridley didn't see another carry after fumbling late in the team's Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos.
Huddle Up: What opposing defenses haven't been able to do -- namely slow Ridley down -- the RB is doing to himself with his fumbles. It also could add up to tough luck to Ridley's fantasy owners, with the back currently ranked fourth among all fantasy RBs with 490 yards and four TDs. Rookie Brandon Bolden, Danny Woodhead and even Shane Vereen also have all had their moments of late so don't be surprised to see the carries spread out even more going forward in New England.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley looks like the favorite to start at running back for the team in Week 1. Ridley rushed for 87 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 24, while RB Shane Vereen (undisclosed) exited with an injury.
Huddle Up: Ridley has racked up 152 yards on 34 carries (4.47 YPC) this preseason, while Vereen has a less impressive 23-81 stat line. With Vereen's injury last night the Boston Globe believes the backfield competition is "over." Ridley will surely get the starting nod week 1, but this is the Patriots and could still prove to be a frustrating situation for fantasy owners this season.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley may be considered the most likely candidate to receive between-the-tackles carries this season, reports the Boston Herald.
Huddle Up: Between-the-tackles carries are a big chunk of the Patriots' running game so this is a positive sign that Ridley has an inside track. These carries used to comprise BenJarvus Green-Ellis' workload. They don't run a lot of stretch plays or toss-sweeps because Brady can just pitch it for a first down without tiring out the offensive linemen too quickly.
