Huddle Up: Ridley has to be about done in New England. He simply can't hang onto the football, despite getting many chances to redeem himself. James White has received plenty of camp buzz but has looked pedestrian in two preseason games. Shane Vereen will lead the New England backfield in touches this season if he can stay healthy.

Huddle Up: Ridley needs to hold on to the football to hold on to the lead role in New England's backfield, and Shane Vereen will most certainly take a chunk of the touches as the team's pass-catching back. That said, the Patriots' backfield traditionally produces enough fantasy points to feed multiple backs so a fumble-free Ridley could be a fantasy factor.

Huddle Up: It's not just that Ridley has fumbled 9 times in his 3 NFL seasons; it's which coach he's playing for while fumbling 9 times. With LeGarrette Blount no longer in the mix, Ridley does have the chance to be the lead dog in N.E. -- provided, of course, he can get a grip on things.

Huddle Up: This is brutal timing for owners who have ridden Ridley to a playoff berth. The Patriots backfield is not trustworthy outside Shane vereen.

Huddle Up: Ridley has lost 4 fumbles this season -- 1 in each of the last 2 games. The latest one, a first-quarter turnover in Week 12, was returned for a TD by the Broncos and resulted in the RB's benching for the rest of the night. He remains New England's top back from a pure pure running standpoint, but opponents are going to test his ball security whenever they get the chance. Bottom line: Ridley is going to be awfully hard to trust as a fantasy starter as he's always a bobble away from heading to the bench.

Huddle Up: After losing his NFL-leading third fumble, the rest of Ridley's night seemed to be in doubt, but much to the relief of his fantasy owners, he was allowed back out of the doghouse and delivered a TD -- scoring for the fifth straight game. Ridley's fantasy value has dipped with Shane Vereen's return and LeGarrette Blount's continued presence, but he still appears to be the Pats' preferred starting and goal-line back.

Huddle Up: Good news for Ridley owners as many were certain the fumble would curtail his touches and spoil his recent run of success which includes 340 rushing yards and 6 TDs over the past 4 games.

Huddle Up: So Ridley will return after missing a game, but that only makes the Pats' fantasy RB outlook even more muddled than usual. Go with a safer option if you have one.

Huddle Up: Ridley, who sat out Week 5, has been limited in each of the past 2 days, but then again, so is just about anyone who matters on the squad. See if the outlook changes Friday, but our money is on "limited" again.

Huddle Up: As expected, Ridley won't play after sitting out practice all week. With Brandon Bolden (knee) and Leon Washington (thigh) both listed as questionable after being limited all week in practice, the biggest fantasy beneficiary by process of elimination is LeGarrette Blount, the only truly healthy back the Pats have entering the weekend.

Huddle Up: It doesn't look good for Ridley making it to the field this weekend. With Branden Bolden also nicked up, LeGarrette Blount could be the Patriots' primary ballcarrier in Week 5.

Huddle Up: That's 2 missed workouts in 2 days now for Ridley, so his fantasy owners need to start planning accordingly. Meanwhile, Brandon Bolden and LeGarrette Blount could creep into flex options -- especially in larger leagues -- if Ridley is out.

Huddle Up: We'll have to wait for more news on Ridley's injury later in the week. If he can't go against the Bengals, LeGarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden would see an increase in touches against the Bengals with neither player being an attractive fantasy option.

Huddle Up: This could just be a planned day off, or Ridley could have been excused for personal reasons.
Posted: 9/10/2013 6:50pm ET
Huddle Up: Ridley's fantasy owners got a bit of a reprieve with Vereen's wrist injury, and they can expect to have a more-focused RB available to start this week against the Jets.
Posted: 9/9/2013 6:19pm ET
Huddle Up: With Shane Vereen out at least four weeks, what are the Patriots going to do? Give LeGarrette Blount 25 carries? (Don't answer that, Bill Belichick, just give Ridley his role back.)
Posted: 9/9/2013 10:25am ET
Huddle Up: LeGarrette Blount also received carries following Ridley's second fumble. We'll see how long Ridley remains in Bill Belichick's doghouse, but the presence of Blount and Vereen's strong showing certainly dings Ridley's prospects.
